They look like bad Captain Falcon cosplayers.

Edit: Forgot the little glowy "S4m" at the bottom there.

Fan Creations / Walls (Two)
« on: May 06, 2008, 12:11:16 AM »
I didn't notice until halfway through the second one here, but both of these do involve walls. Therefore, I'll kill two stones with one bird and post them in the same thread.

If characters are literally unlocked, sealed inside a steel room or box until the requirements are met... then this illustrates how things must be going on in my Mario Kart Wii save data: Only Mii in Mario/Peach clothing and Baby Daisy remain, and they'll remain for a long, long time.

This takes a bit more explaining. There's this "dojo" in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2. The highest level I can access is the Ghost Dungeon, which I found inhabited by Misdreavus and nothing else. I must have never encountered a ghost type in either the first or second game until then, because they really surprised me when they passed through walls. When they're inside walls, they can't be attacked by ordinary moves. Long hallways are a nightmare. Despite the negativity this image puts forward, it's actually a great place for level grinding. On the fourth floor the Misdreavus gave out 390 experience points to everyone each time...

Yeah, yeah, you know who these guys are*. This was done entirely in GIMP with the tablet. Filters used pretty much only include artistic > cartoon and alpha to logo > neon (I looooove using that one).

It's messy. I forgot to erase that gnat hovering around near Ness's head. But, I'm warming up to drawing on the screen through a big silver rectangle I'm not looking at.

*Favorite Brawl characters, if you didn't.

Forum Games / Things you should never say to a Pokémon.

I keep reading the other thread's title this way, probably because "Policeman" is written as a proper noun. So here's a sweet little parody thread. Enjoy!

"Well since you can never win any fights, I can't afford to feed you anymore..."

"I bet the family and friends I took you from would be so proud of you right now!"

I think of a scenario like this every time he does that victory pose.

This won't make perfect sense if you haven't played EarthBound, so I'll ruin it. There's an item called Dragonite (the game predates Pokémon, mind) that, when sprinkled over a character's head, reportedly transforms them into a huge fire-breathing dragon for one turn to deal damage. By the same reasoning, Super Dragonite would...

And that big towering brick man is the Guardian General, a boss in the pyramid of Scaraba. He gives me trouble.

Full size (it's only 253 kb, though 2109x624)

Fan Creations / Tanoombas!
« on: January 18, 2008, 09:43:28 PM »

Sketch

Combine the powers of the Tanooki with the sly cunning of the Goomba. The result is an awesomely creative shape-shifting enemy only found in the two Mario & Luigi games. Be careful next time you come upon a seemingly innocent cup of tea...

I admit, the Tanoombas' transformations in Partners in Time actually tricked me three times on the overworld the first time I reached Thwomp Volcano. "What kind of coin is this!? Oh, awesome, it's a Tanoomba!" "Toad? What? Ohhhh... Ah. Tanoomba." "Another ? Block. No. Another Tanoomba."

The Great Fairy said you could shoot bubbles with B, right? Yes, that's what she said...

Sketch

Colored entirely in GIMP. I never was able to get Photoshop onto my laptop so I had to settle for GIMP... and it's not so bad. This was good practice. The sketch is pretty old, actually--November fourth, it was.

For those completely in the dark: In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, the Skull Kid steals the Ocarina of Time and Epona. When Link catches up to him he uses the evil power of Majora's Mask to curse Link, turning him into a Deku Scrub. The first thing you do in Clock Town is go to the Great Fairy for help, and when you return the one stray fairy in town to the fountain, she gives you magic power. Link shoots bubbles from his mouth this way. But that's not very exciting.

Video Game Chat / Favorite Zelda Dungeon
« on: January 03, 2008, 04:23:07 AM »
If you like any Zelda game, there has to be a dungeon you like most. It goes without saying that you will probably state which one and describe why if you decide to post in this topic.

I love everything about The Well of Three Features in Ocarina of Time. It's one of the first dungeons to which you see the entrance, but you never expect it to be a dungeon. It just seems like something there for comic relief: Dark! Narrow! Scary! The Well of Three Features. But when the time to enter it finally comes, you find that it is a pretty creepy place with undead creatures and things. Things you shouldn't miss if paying a visit include opening coffins to see the surprises inside, playing a song to the evil-looking source of the water, standing on skeletal hands (disappointing they weren't enemies waiting to pull Link into the dangerous water), falling through illusion floors, and befriending a long-necked legless zombie to borrow its monocle.

It's also only loosely bound to anything in-game, so you can think about its origins and purpose all you want; all you know about the well is that once a guy's house stood where it is, and he had an eye that could see the truth (obviously, the Lens of Truth) and that at some point an evil end boss was sealed there. So did the man know he had a dungeon under his house? Did he build it himself? How was he connected to the Shadow Temple? ...Why was it so important that no one found the Lens of Truth? So no one knew how he cheated his way to a legend, or for protection...?

"Assorted" best describes these. They were all done on the same paper if you couldn't tell what the things you can see poking in from the sides were.

Yeah, so... pick a side, suck or swashbuckle?

Fan Creations / Starman Jr. Drew Near!

Oh my.

Sketch.

The first "Boss Battle" in EarthBound, in which Starman Junior can't even hurt you thanks to Buzz Buzz's PSI Shield Σ. Ness wields his Cracked Bat, Pokey does nothing useful, and Picky at least tries to help. Two other games make cameos here, one rather obvious and the other a bit harder to see.

Sorry for not resizing it in this post. It looks so much smaller on my laptop's screen... Hooray for high-resolution screens!

Oh my GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

You shouldn't have turned it off.

Been working on this for a few days, or a couple of weeks... I'm not very speedy with audio.
