Title: Too much money?
Post by: HolyAarom on July 18, 2005, 05:29:15 AM
When the Revolution comes out, will it be too expensive? Since GCN games were $50, will the next gen games be like $60-$70? Also, why do I hear people not considering getting a Revolution? Is it the price?

Considering the fact that Nintendo openly denied any high-definition graphics better than 480bpi, and that the Revolution will have only Wi-Fi Hotspot access and not broadband, I predict that it will go for the starting price of about $200-$250 and the games for $40-$60.

Well, this is where the signature goes...

The strange thing about video games is that the prices have never really gone up. It flies in the face of basic economics, but the duality of games costing much, much more to make and the amount of people who buy games skyrocketing, the magic price of $50 a game has stayed pretty constant. I remember some $60-$70 N64 games. People today would freak out if a modern generation game cost that.

It can't last forever, though. Who knows, maybe this will be the generation for a lasting price increase?
