Well that's not anything suprising, I mean, if we all had the dough, wouldn't we all want to buy Nintendo?

They tried to buy Nintendo before the launch of the XBox... it didn't happen so Microsoft proceeded to plan B.  This is what Microsoft always does: buy the technology; if the company is unwilling, they copy it and try to run the other out of business.  Gates told AOL before starting MSN that he could buy part of them, buy all of them, or run them into the ground.  That didn't exactly happen, but the same is occuring here.
