Hmmm....

Mostly, I enjoy Platformers. I like Adventure games, Action games....Strategy games such as Pikmin and The Sims are good...I like Puzzle games, like Tetris Attack and Puyo Pop (The version I played was Kirby's Avalanche).

I don't like RPGs. Racing games are neutral, if it's something Like Mario Kart, it's good. If it's like Gran Turismo, I won't like it. I don't like many Sports games. FPSs are neutral as well, I only like a few, such as Goldeneye.

My post is a mess.....

Adventure with a good story to it.  The only RPGs that I like are Mario RPGs.  But I really like a good story behind the game not just kill him, and blow up that.
Maybe there is more to me than there is to me...

Isn't Adventure where they don't have levels but instead you travel around differnt places?  Like an RPG without leveling up?

And what's Platform?  All I know is that I like games like Super Mario 64, where there's levels and all that stuff.

I better cut you off here, taking an overdose of Markio can be dangerous.

For me, RPGs, by far. I can't stop playing Final Fantasy on my GBA. I also found a REAL way to get Mew in Pokemon Blue, tested and proven. Perhaps I'll put it in a topic, if asked to.

Adventure games are where you go around and solve puzzles and talk to people. There is usually not combat, especially reflex-oriented combat. Adventure games are hardly ever made these days.

Examples: The Secret of Monkey Island, Syberia, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey, Myst, Still Life

Platform games are where you control something that can usually jump high and jump around on platforms to accomplish some goal.

Examples: Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Sunshine, Yo! Noid, Ristar, Jak & Daxter

How did I know I'd be the first person to answer FPS's as my favorite genre?

After shooters, there a tie between puzzle/action, then probably platformers.

I like platform games like the earlier Super Mario Bros games and Sonic the Hedgehog.

I also like action/puzzle like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, and... you know, I just realized that I have like no games for my Gamecube.  Just SMS, MK:DD, MG:TT, and SSBM.  I should get StarFox Assault or something...

I learned how to get Mew too(not Mewtwo) in Blue.  You can also get it in Red, but either way I started a new game over my Mew file because it wasn't as fun with a really powerful non-existant pokemon.  That's why I don't like to keep traded pokemon, they level up too fast and loaf around.

I'm gonna post my fav games and then figure out what genre appears the most.

GameCube Title:                             Genre (IGN):
Alien Hominid                              Third-Person Shooter
Animal Crossing                             Simulation
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures         Action Adventure
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour               Sports Action
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door            RPG
Resident Evil 4                     Third-Person Action Adventure
The Simpsons: Hit & Run                  Third-Person Action Adventure
The Sims Bustin' Out                  Simulation
Super Mario Sunshine                  Platformer
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger                  Platformer
Wario Ware Inc. Mega Party Game$            Party

So far I can't decide so I'll add more games/systems later.  I also disagree with some of IGN's classifications.

Personally, my favorite is Platformer. Nothing beats a good ol' Mario-style platform-hopping adventure. And yes, I know there are other genres, but my browser doesn't support the ability to add extra options.

Ehh... Sapph will merge them if need be.
Actually, I never really have a favorite. It depends on what I'm into at the moment--Right now, I don't know. I just finished M&L:PiT. That was an RPG, so last week I'd've said RPG. Before that I was playing Kirby Canvas Curse & MKDS a lot, so I'd've said Racing or Platformer a couple of weeks ago. Before that, SSBM--fighting. I really really want to play PMTTYD right now, so I'd probably say RPG. But when I neglect other games and decide to put an RPG down and play, let's say SMA4, it becomes platformer. I'm sure a lot of people are like that. Not hard to love a lot of different genres when you're a Mario fan! ^_^

I consider myself to be a game connoisseur, in that I play many different genres.  However, by sheer number of games currently owned, my favorite genre appears to be strategy/simulation: I own Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne, Rome: Total War, Civilization IV, The Sims 2, SimCity 4, and Advance Wars 2, to name a few.

However, my favorite GAMES of all time are mostly platforms/rpgs... Metroid Prime, Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Mario Brothers 3, etc.

Myst and Zork aren't Action/Adventure, they're Adventure. Action/Adventure is what platformers used to be called and I guess what stuff like Zelda is still kind of called.

Strategy and Simulation shouldn't be grouped together, either, technically.
