GI: What is the little door on the front of the unit?

Fils-Aime: That is where an SD card goes. That’s storable media. And on
top, are the attachments for the GameCube controllers.

GI: So will SD cards be the primary storage medium?

Fils-Aime: It will be one of the memory mediums, and it’s the only one
that we’ve announced.

Heh.  They're putting the disc in upside down.  I wonder what the SYNC button actually syncs.  Could be the controllers or SD memory?  Where does the DVD dongle go?

Inside the stand:  http://pix.nofrag.com/c6/56/68284b0c00ab73476d4cdd0c11f6.jpg

I wonder what the hole in the base is for.  Is it for the air intake with the back of the Wii being the exhaust?  Or more likely are the lines of holes in the bottom front of the Wii itself the only intake?  Has anyone seen a picture of the vertical-bottom/right-side of the Wii itself?

Gap at front of base:  http://img323.imageshack.us/img323/7717/p101031927rx.jpg

The gap is possibly for air intake through the base.  Also notice "Nintendo" instead of "Wii".  I wish the new "Wii" image showed the gap or where it was.  Anyone else have pictures of the new "Wii"?

EDIT:  Should my two recent posts here have gone in a different thread?

EDIT 2:

I think it was annouced that the Wii will use SD memory cards, but unless this is an optical illusion it looks like that slot is the size of a DS card which is larger than an SD card.  Hmmm.

DS, SD, and CD size comparison:  http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y258/paulk501/comparision.jpg

EDIT 3:  After chatting with a staffer about the sizes I think that a DS card would not fit in the slot.  The comparison images are not very good to draw conculsions.  Still, it looks slightly too big for SD to me, but that may be an optical illusion or the slot may be slightly oversized in this demo system that possilby doesn't actual hardware for the slot anyway.

<sarcasm>  It's obvious that the SYNC button is for the Nintendo ON Z800 3D VR visor.  </sarcasm>

EDIT 4:  What is this?  http://kontek.net/Luigison/flaps.PNG  Is it where the DVD dongle goes?

Heh.  This post is turning into a blog.

This sentence is here for those who still automatically skip the last line of a post.

I'm 99% sure you mean Game Cube Memory Cards.

The picture fooled me. I actually did think the slot was for Gamecube games. When comparing a CD/DVD to a GC disc, the size of the hole is too small for the GC disc. My mistake.

I think GCN disks will go into the same slot as Wii disks.

I voted for better than average. Sure it may not have Rare anymore, but it has many third-parties interested in the system.

The problem I have is that there are a few Rare games for the N64 that I wanna try, but from what I've heard, there won't be any non-DK games made by Rare available for download.

Looks like I could spend at least $354.62 and up to $568.35 or so at the Wii launch.  Anyone want to buy a slightly used kidney?

Here's what I want from the webpage:
State Sales Tax (7.25%)
1 Wii Remote ($39.99 each)
1 Retro Controller ($19.99 each)
Elebits - ($49.99)
Rayman Raving Rabbids - ($49.99)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - ($49.99)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion - ($49.99)
2000 Virtual Console Points ($0.01 per point)
Total:  $568.35

I probably won't get all those games at launch, but will definetly get Wario Ware which isn't listed.

Here's what I will definetly get:
State Sales Tax (7.25%)
1 Wii Remote ($39.99 each)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - ($49.99)
WarioWare - ($39.99?) - Assuming it's at launch
Total:  $354.62

Calculate how much you could spend:  http://www.n-sider.com/newsview.php?type=story&storyid=2440
