Kind of a cool-looking indie book.

General Chat / Disney Bought Marvel

...Now what? First of all, probably this. Secondly... well, what do you think this will affect down the line? This is in General Chat because it's not inherently videogame-related, though it's to be expected that discussion will probably end up focusing on that.

Game Help / Some Number On the SMG File Select
« on: August 31, 2009, 06:41:04 PM »
My brother was replaying some SMG levels today and, after going back to the file select screen, we noticed that, when you choose a file (but before starting the game), there is some number under the total play time on that bar above your icon's head. I think it was 200-something on mine and 500-something on my brother's. Just out of curiousity, what does it mean?

Video Game Chat / The PS3 Might be Getting Emotional

Link (Or here)

Yeah, it's just a patent, with the usual creepy people and bizarre diagrams, but what do you think? Disturbing or potentially awesome?

Game Help / Urgent PS3 Issues
« on: August 15, 2009, 07:18:07 PM »
As I aired grievances about a while back on the Angst Thread, my PS3 experienced a bizarre, unprovoked meltdown about a month ago that necessitated a complete system restore. To my relief, all save data was intact on the main hard drive (and swiftly backed up, with the exception of the mysteriously uncopyable Loco Roco Cocoreccho) but profiles, internet accounts, system settings, etc. were totally gone. As such, my LittleBigPlanet data fell into a sort of limbo--it was unscathed, but my DLC was locked and I was warned that Trophies would no longer be valid unless I erased my save data, apparently because, since there was no longer any profile data, it figured I was trying to steal someone else's game progress or something. Anyway, per advice collectively gathered online from others who had had this problem (specifically, as a result of some glitch or "feature" that no one will fix, trophy data being invalidated by a deleted PSN account, though not necessarily through a system restore), I backed up the save data and erased the game data, to try using the save data again at a later date. Thoroughly ****ed-off, I delayed this for some time.

So, today, with time on my hands, I decided to man up and futz around with what I could in hopes of getting things working again. In goes the disc, game data is reinstalled... and lo and behold, my previously working save data is allegedly corrupted, with the only recourse being a futile "retry" or a complete erasure of the data. Apparently, either DLC + save data - game data = DOES NOT COMPUTE, or even more invisible bullcrap went down inside my Sony George Foreman between July and sixty minutes ago. The point is, I've got about half a year's worth of gameplay, half the game's Trophies, a handful of custom levels, and $10+ worth of DLC on the line and I'm in no mood to ring up tech support to gab with an Indian and/or robot. Help and I will be eternally in your debt.

Video Game Chat / GH, RB, etc: Band Makers or Breakers?
« on: July 28, 2009, 11:15:00 PM »
Maybe it's a little late to ask the question, but what do you think? Personally, I believe GH, RB, and the like are a great way for anyone (but primarily kids) to segue into playing an actual instrument and maybe strike up their own band. That's probably not always the case, but not to such a degree that I'd go with the second option.

Not a family tree, per se, but a graphic structured akin to one that details, well, just about every Mario game, ever.

Video Game Chat / New Zelda for Wii
« on: June 06, 2009, 07:55:40 AM »
As you may have heard, a new Legend of Zelda game for the Wii was confirmed during some sort of conference with Miyamoto around E3. All that was confirmably stated was that he hoped to unveil it next year, in addition to the following piece of concept art, which was briefly kept private but has now been intentionally released to the public:

The number one thing everybody's noticing is, of course, that not only is Link right-handed (few surprises there), but he has no sword (and possibly a rounder shield, but I can't see how that matters). Also, the Wind Waker Fairy Queen-esque being behind him has been compared to the missing weapon in question...

Mario Chat / Super Mario 64: The Missing Stars
« on: May 19, 2009, 07:13:21 PM »

A playable Luigi, ten new levels, 38 new stars, new music, and more are in this Mario 64 mod (no, it's not SM64DS). Now, I'm not promoting ROMs here or suggesting you download this, or whatever, but I've been sitting on the link for a while and thought it was kind of cool. There are screenshots.

Mario Chat / Which Mario is Best?
« on: May 16, 2009, 12:24:47 PM »
There's probably already a thread like this somewhere but I've been holding onto this/these link/pics for a long time and, hey, it's Mario-related.

So... which one's best? Or at least, talk about them, or something.

Video Game Chat / Proposed Bill: Videogame Warning Labels

Yes, this is somewhat old news--and yes, the link I came across that references it is a bit of a joke--but it's a debate to keep an eye on. "T" or "M" games with drug-esque warning labels? No!

It's just a bit belated, but it's the twentieth anniversary of when Nintendo's revolutionary portable hit stores! Discuss, or whatever.
