No no no, there's been far greater threads in other boards that we have to live up to. Like the one thread on NeoGAF where people got caught up on a lousy Raving Rabbids commercial and started photoshopping the goth and goof kids in various ways. Or doing the Spongebob Squarepants song with the theme of Richard Nixon.

Or this where someone decided to recite the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody.

But for this forum, I tend to think TOTY candidates include the Pointless Thread, Ouch!, You Laugh You Lose (for creating a bunch of imitators), Why don't any of you people have A Boy and His Blob, that one thread where two new Pokemon were going to be revealed and it was leaked a few days before it was meant to, and... uh, that's all I can think of.

TOTY is limited to a topic created THAT year.

Now that I think about it, maybe there should be a separate category for threads that spawn other parodies/variations, as opposed to just being good threads in and of themselves.
