I honestly can't tell what it has to do with the story, either. Is it the author talking or some other guy? I mean, he finds the letter, so I'm guessing it's one of those Citizen Kane-esque backwards stories, but... I don't know; no more than I know who the guy's talking about! It sounds like he's obsessed with some old sailor dude, but I figure this is just one of those books where you miss one sentence and the following twenty pages make no sense. I think the reason it's difficult to read is because there's not a whole lot of nouns (Once again, in The Custom House, at least. I read the first, short, chapter, and it was a bit better).

On a separate note:

If you can afford a Blu-Ray player, you probably have a fireplace. Nevermind the fact that replacing the basis of human civilization with a cold, technological facsimile is topped only by Sexy Jesus and The Jungle Book 2 on the Blasphemy Scale.

We didn't have to read Scarlet Letter when I was in high school, but we had to watch a crap film adaptation of it.  Most of us still didn't understand it.

I now know who the stupidest person I've ever seen is.

Also, this screengrab, the offending typo underlined for clarity:

That kid in the video reminds me of the kind of videos I made when I was 6.
That was a joke.

This is a new post, unrelated to my last.
I'm afraid that NOA and Reggie are killing the chance for awesome games to come out in America. Or maybe they just hate Monolith Soft. Case in point, Soma Bringer is by all accounts an amazing game for DS, and it had a huge release in Japan last February. I fear that the wave of money from casual gamers is somehow making them feel like they don't need to release good games here. Monolith Soft even went second party to Nintendo, and they don't even get games released in the USA now. I really wish they would have localized Soma Bringer, because this means I'll have to just get the translation patch, but they sure as heck better let Fragile get released here or I'll have to go up to Washington and knock some heads together. Although, maybe since Fragile isn't by Monolith Soft and would be released by Namco, I don't have to worry?

I was psyched about Fragile until I realized it was an RPG. Nothing against RPGs, but I don't think that type of game would fit well into that type of play style. Might still check it out, though.

Oh. But I was still expecting a sort of adventure/horror-y type deal, like third-person Myst or something.

My "girlfriend" broke up with me. She wasn't really my girlfriend, but it's still too bad. I don't even understand why it happenned.
