Hey, when I got the Orange Box, I never even intended to play TF2. Once Portal and the HL2 episodes ran out of fun juice, I decided I might as well try and get TF2 running. By then (during the Sniper Update), I was getting my ass handed to me by HP-draining syringe guns and double-barreled sawed-offs.

So has anyone else unlocked one of these? From what I understand they're totally random and kind of rare.

I really only want Heavy's football helmet and Pyro's beanie.

They're totally random, totally rare, totally useless, and yet still manage to conjure up feelings of bitterness and malice in people who see others unlock them. I've lost count of the times I've heard people complain that they diserved X hat more than X guy, that X guy shouldn't have it since he's not the awesome Team Fortress Gangsta that they are.

I haven't unlocked a single hat yet. But I know people that have all nine. It's ridiculous! I don't want twenty cans of Bonk! I want a Pyro beanie!

I've heard of people getting duplicate items that have "levels" differing from the standard number, although they do not affect the stats of the weapon at all. I have yet to have this happen to me, though.

In related news, I want Valve to implement that trading system now.

I've stopped playing as the pyro...he's too easy to play as. I've switched to playing as the heavy and the engineer.

Oh my god, they've even got a Medic ubering a Heavy.

Of course it's really nothing like TF2. That Sniper is racking up more than a couple kills in a row without me coming up from behind and backburnering her to death.

Glorb, it seems like you've been playing a lot of Dream Fortress 2 lately.

You're right; normally they just leave out of fear once they see I've joined the server.
