Title: Marvel vs Capcom 3
Post by: Mr. Wiggles on April 20, 2010, 01:00:58 AM
AKA memes ahoy and more dream roster fantasies.

Link to non-youtube trailer that'll hopefully not be taken down by tomorrow (http://www.games.net/video/bts/140683/marvel-vs-capcom-3-announcement-trailer). Also:

About time Mr. Redfield makes his debut. He makes his first appearance in style. Hopefully, Wesker isn't too far behind.

Cool, a new game for Wiggles to call people cheap at.

Deadpool probability is 100%. He has like five series right now.

Yeah, including his series with like a million of himself from other universes in it. I want to see Headpool as one of his projectiles.

Cool, a new game for Wiggles to call people cheap at.

The rumor from last week was that Storm and Magneto made the cut from MvC2. Nothing's confirmed that yet though. But the fact that the roster is approximately 30 characters gives me hope.

Oh, and since these games are notorious for giving obscure Capcom characters new life, I demand the return of Vanessa Schneider and Kyosuke Kagami.

I don't know who the crap any of these people are.
Shiba was also in Cannon Spike (a cool Commando-as-made-by-Psikyo Dreamcast shmup featuring a bunch of Capcom characters, and a game I would probably recommend to people if it hit XBLA, especially if it featured online co-op), if that helps. I don't know if the dude from Forgotten Worlds even has a name.

And no, Toad, that's the Forgotten Realms, where a lot of Dungeons & Dragons stuff takes place.

To keep people up to date, recently revealed characters are

Capcom: Chun-Li, Trish (from DMC), Amaterasu (From Okami)

Marvel: Dr. Doom, Super Skrull, Thor

Due to my love of Vikings, lightning, and mystical hammers, I am quite excited for the arrival of THE SON OF ODIN

Also I saw the silhouette of Viewtiful Joe in one of the newer trailers.

New Trailer (http://www.capcom-unity.com/snow_infernus/blog/2010/09/09/new_marvel_vs_capcom_3_trailer_on_gamespot?pg=1).

It reveals that Tron Bonne of the Mega Man Legends series will indeed be returning.

I think the best part of this trailer was Captain America deflecting a helicopter. However, Joe riding Amaterasu and Trish breakdancing on a skidding bike were pretty cool too.

The part in the trailer with Viewtiful Joe riding Amaterasu just made me feel a twinge of sadness remembering what happened with Clover.

I love how this thread is 90% blacked out due to discussing trailers while over in the Pokémon thread they're busily examining screens of literally EVERY Pokémon before anyone has even touched the game.

That's because Pokémon titles have no trailers.  They have weird Japanese shows that leak footage and show off the new aesthetic style of the interfaces, but no trailers.

Pheonix would be a bad choice anyway. Shed would be, in order, boring -> boring with "mysterious" abilities -> super overpowered -> dead. For a fighting game, ending up dead seems counterintuitive.

Hsien-ko and Sentinel have their trailers and gameplay up. Really happy with Hsien-ko. She's my favorite Darkstalkers character, and they seem to have brought back most of my favorite tools of hers. They also made Reflect Gong have a projectile, so I can screw fireball users even harder! My first team is totally MODOK/Captain America/Hsien-ko.

Niitsuma said something about "speed of light" netcode in an interview a couple of weeks ago, but no one will know for sure until next week.

On that note, I think it's brilliantly mad that there's going to be an option in training mode for lag simulation.

Lovin' this game so hard. My team hops around a bit but MODOK and Captain America are mainstays.

I also played 10 games with LD today, won 7 of them. I didn't have my headset so I couldn't hear what he was sayin', though. But I'm sure it was good.

Title: Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
Post by: BP on February 20, 2011, 04:26:54 AM
Favorite two are Arthur and Viewtiful Joe, each of whom I use about twice as much as anyone else. Don't have a definite third but after Capcom demands fat stacks of cash for content that could've easily been on the disc offers Frank as DLC I will.

Not that I'll use them 100% of the time. Just, they'll be my first picks of the day and will each be used about one and a half times as much as Spider-Man, Deadpool, Thor, Tron Bonne, Akuma, bluh, muhm, bluh... You know how I got a mob of liked characters in Brawl? same basic thing here.

(I'm kinda surprised that Chuck can reportedly "spank" LD. Not to put down either of you, I'm just curious now--I only have a year of fighting experience that basically started with Tatsunoko, I can beat the Captain about half the time, the Captain can lay a beatdown on LD who presumably has way more experience?

I'll have to fight you a few times next time I go to Jim's place, Lizard.)

DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME!

-------------------------

bobman has the extent of it. All my dudes kept getting killed by a mental organism designed only for killing. I need to look into what MODOK's moves are actually doing.

Though that applies to most characters; in our later matches, that was the first time I'd ever used most of those guys.

Besides my inexperience, Jim was doing some good stuff too. Good timing of hypers.

(Then there was the time I had a bunch of healthy dudes against his one Pheonix, until I killed it and it unleashed an unholy beatdown on everything, obliterating me in 1.7 seconds.)
Title: Re: Marvel vs Capcom 3
Post by: WarpRattler on February 20, 2011, 02:21:49 PM
My only experience with MvC3 so far is a bit of single-player, but it seems pretty great. My observations from maybe twenty minutes of play:
-Morrigan is an automatic main (as she has been in DarkStalkers, Night Warriors, Vampire Savior, Marvel vs. Capcom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Super Gem Fighter: Mini Mix, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Capcom vs. SNK 2, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom), but the new aerial-forward and ground-to-air Soul Fists make her even better. I didn't get a chance to use Astral Vision, but I hear it's insanely good as well.
-My dad was laughing his head off at Deadpool. "BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG!"
-I didn't have enough time to see how retardedly good M.O.D.O.K. is myself, but he still seemed like he'd be fun.
-Hsien-Ko's way fun; as Jim said before, they kept pretty much her entire moveset, so she was easy to pick up and play. Guillotine Swing <3
-I didn't get to try Arthur, but if he's as much of a Touhou (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNh02oaEYvk) character as he's been made out to be, he'd probably be a perma-main as well.
-Surprisingly, I didn't have any problems with inputs on the Xbox 360 D-pad. Maybe it's because I've been using the Dreamcast D-pad (which, and you guys aren't going to believe this, makes even the 360 D-pad look good) and the GameCube D-pad (which is in no way suitable for fighting games) lately.

ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVVT8XadsHk)

With balance tweaks, new stages, new moves, and 12 new characters (all of which are known, but only 4 are supposed to be), UMvC3 looks like it's taking things to the next level.

New Characters Thus Far:

Capcom: Strider Hiryu (Strider), Firebrand (GnG, Gargoyle's Quest, Demon's Crest)

Marvel: Ghost Rider, Hawkeye.

They're doing that thing where you get different costumes based on where you preorder (http://www.marvelvscapcom3.com/us/order).

Ahaha but seriously folks, Doctor Strange and Frank West and Phoenix Wright. Welcome additions. Here's hoping that Kattelox Island With Snow isn't the only "new stage." Maybe Galactus will actually attempt to squash us like the bugs that we are, or something.

Hopefully they notice that the Viewtiful one has two special intro lines assigned to half the roster and will give him more varying dialogues?

I preordered this, by the way, since I have good Internet and all now.

This is the WarpRattler for the new decade. Get ready to battle.

2011 is the year we make contact.

Welcome to the revolution.

I love some of the characters that have made it onto the Capcom side (Arthur, Viewtiful Joe, Phoenix Wright, etc.) but why do they STILL refuse to include Mega Man?  So weird.  It'd be like if the next Smash Bros. launched without Mario.

EDIT: Did they not include Spider-Man on the Marvel side?  What the ****?  That's like not having Batman and Superman in a Justice League game.  Though the inclusion of Rocket Raccoon, MODOK and Dr. Strange definitely helps...

Uhhh...? Spider-Man is definitely playable. And don't be talkin' bad 'bout MODOK and Rocky, man!

Nick looks awesome. Can't wait to use him.

His is the only trailer I've watched so far because I don't want to GET HYPE too much and have the wait become unbearable.

[darnit], Jim, it's still six days until release. Don't post things like that until after I have my copy.

With Skyrim, SM3DL, Revelations, Skyward Sword, and Saints Row The Third all hitting in the same week-span, I find my urge to play UMvC3 minimal.

I'm not really concerned about anything else coming out around that time causing me to lose interest in UMvC3, but I'm definitely concerned about UMvC3 causing me to lose interest in The King of Fighters XIII, which comes out a week later.

The Nemesis DLC costume has tentacles hanging from his back that twitch when he stands still and flap around when he dashes or jumps.
