I liked this topic better back when it was called B-Day. Those were the good old days.

That one were Mario and his green brother jump on stuff.  /s

Seriously I've never been able to narrow it down to a single game.  SMB was my first, but SMB3 is my fav NES game.  I also very much like SMW.  SM64 changed my view on what a video game could be.  SMRPG was good, but 1000 years door really impressed me for some reason.  Sunshine was the reason I bought a GCN and probably the game I posted about the most.  Of course Galaxy is awesome.  In the handheld environment I think SMB deluxe is the best version of the game and SMA4:SMB3's eReader levels were an awesome addition.  M&L:SS is on of my all time favorites.  So, inclusion, I can't decide.

Favorite Mario game starring Mario would be Super Mario RPG because it introduced me to the world of RPGs and just plain rocked.

Favorite Mario game of all (not starring Mario) would be SMW2: Yoshi's Island.

I don't think Wario games after Wario Land 1 count as "Mario" games, but I liked Wario Land 2 more than Yoshi's Island due to its tight design (clever layout, can't break it no matter how hard you try) and puzzles, tighter design than Yoshi's Island.
You didn't say wot wot.

i think nintendo is a pretty cool guy. eh stomps goombas and doesn't afraid of anything

But seriously, my faves are:
[Insert prefix] Super Mario [Insert Bros/World/Land] [Insert number and/or suffix]
Also, SM64, SMAS, and Paper Mario.

[Lame visual pun]

Anyway, SMW is a likely candidate for being my all-time favourite game. Trailing close behind are PM:TTYD,  SMRPG and SM64.

My all-time favorite has to be SMRPG, it put Mario with a role-playing style that I love.

Second would be PM:TTYD and third is SMB3.

Super Mario Land 2 for me. I remember the days when the Game Boy owned everything else.
