Apparently August 9th, 2003. That was during a dark time in my life when I was a total dweeb. Then I stopped coming since I stopped being a dweeb. Then I started coming again since I missed it. Then I stopped. Then I started again. Then I stopped again. Now I just sorta come back whenever I feel like I'm in too good of a mood and want to be berated by people on a Super Mario Bros. message board.

Your DSi has one dead pixel and you want to use that as an excuse to get a new system.

My old DS Lite had at least a dozen dead pixels and a broken hinge, and I didn't replace it until I botched a repair job and it actually stopped being usable as anything but a paperweight.

See, exactly. This is the exact reason Nintendo can get away with being inferior to its competitors. Because people like you look past its problems, simply because it's Nintendo, passing it off as "oh its not a big deal, stop complaining". Well it is a big deal. When I shell out over $150 for a friggin system, I expect it to come without flaws. Just  Whether I have a DSi with one dead pixel or a hundred of them doesn't matter. When you're selling something, the product should typically, you know, work.

So your DSi was a piece of [dukar] and you were too poor/lazy to get a new one. You want a medal for it? Your DS had many problems and you were content playing a broken system, and you're going to use that as an excuse for Nintendo to make inferior products?

Think about what you're saying.
'Your DSi which you paid money for has a flaw, and you are bothered that it will cost money to have repaired, and are using that as an excuse  use your own money to simply buy a new one which would be more convenient than having it repaired?'

Face it. Your argument is essentially "Nintendo has many problems, but we shouldn't speak up about it, and try to ignore them as best as we can."

Well, yes, drinking insane amounts is uber dangerous, but both alcohol and weed in small concentrations isn't going to hurt you at all. What I was getting at was that if you're already a responsible person, you're not going to have a problem in the first place.

Not at the Dinner Table / Re: Racism as comedy
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:41:51 PM »
Racist humor is always funny, no matter what. Building on that, offensive humor is always funny. I believe no one should be off limits. Blacks, whites, gays, asians, poor people, babies, etc...
Singling out a certain group and saying NO IT'S NOT OKAY is just stupid and doesn't accomplish anything. Censorship just sweeps dust under the rug, rather than confronting it. I'm not defending racism, however, I also think it's stupid to attack someone for being racist.
Like for example, I have no problem walking in with a slice of watermelon and breaking out into Blackface-speech yelling OH LAWDY LAWDY SHO IS DA GOODEST MELLON I EVAH SAW because I know that's not how I truly feel about Black people. Hell, I go to college where white students are the minority, and it doesn't bother me. I just appreciate humor in all its forms.

I think a good summation of my stance would be the classic line of "I'm not racist, I hate everybody." Just because I believe every group of people has some stereotype or traits that can be made fun of.

You sir ought to be a comedian. I laughed my ass off.

Pretty sure he got that from Conan O'Brian or something. I forget who, but I heard it on tv somewhere.

So wait, you freely admit to being irresponsible and not taking care of stuff?

No, I actually want a new DSi since mine randomly had a broken pixel pop up months after getting it at launch. Neither Gamestop nor Nintendo would cover it since it's so far after the fact. Nintendo said they'd take it in for repair, but that would cost almost as much money as a new one, and it'd be out for like three weeks.

Let's just leave it at this...

Metroid Prime / Citizen Kane comparison is stupid.

Citizen Kane is a great movie.

Metroid Prime is a great trilogy that you should play if you haven't yet.

Lord of the Rings is an awesome trilogy that you should see if you haven't yet.

Spoiler parades aren't cool.

Indeed, it just made the whole game feel like... instead of exploration and fun, it felt more like a point and click adventure in which you happen to control the character.

Incidentally I had a similar thing happen to me as well. Random $20 charge to Skype appeared on my bank statement few months ago, and I was sitting there going "Seriously?"

Because you're a responsible 20-something who takes care of their games.

And MrWiggles, I'm admitting that I don't know anything about the inner workings of the DSi firmware, not that Nintendo doesn't make stupid decisions.

Because President Obama is the first person in history to dream of a nuclear-weapon-free world.

I like Forrest Guy's last pic.  There are several good juxtapositions in it:  The Japanese Mario cards on top of the Xbox 360, the gold N64 controller on the Atari, and most of all the half-dead plant hanging down toward the Dreamcast.  Also, is that a broken Fender in the closet?

To build on this, I'd like to note I place my Master Chief action figure next to my ROB. And yeah, Trainman hit the nail on the head.
