Mario Chat / Re: Bowser's name mentioned in 1990 in the US on accident

Bowser's name was mentioned several times in the "Super Mario Bros. 3" cartoon.  In the episode "Princess Toadstool for President" Luigi refers to the character as "Bowser Koopa," for example.

I find it hard to believe the use of the name "Bowser" was ever avoided.

"Paper Mario": Finally, a "Mario" game with ninja Koopas!  You remember, they were in the cartoon show in 1990.

I just played Lavalava Island in "Paper Mario" and I see Yoshi has changed for the better.  Now the people at Nintendo seem to have abandoned the "Yoshi's Island/Story" cuteness and made the Yoshis look like they did back in good old "Super Mario World."

The only difference I see in the Yoshis' appearance in "World" and "Paper" is that now they're...paper.  Anyway, there still doesn't seem to be "the" Yoshi, and you can't ride any of them or use them to your advantage, but it's a start back on the right track.

Vwee-voo! Forget "Yoshiyoshi!" "Vwee-voo!" is better!

Now, I've heard a few people refer to the object in "Super Mario Bros." as an axe, but it looks to me just like the support peg holding that half of the bridge to the stone.  I think it makes a lot more sense for Mario to collapse the bridge by removing a component than to chop the bridge up with an axe.

No, Bowser isn't acting too bright in "Super Mario Bros. 3."  He had captured 7 kingdoms in Mushroom World, and he and his children had set up traps to deter Mario (or any other would-be hero) every step of the way.  But Mario managed to get past every one of him and had tracked the Koopa King to his home in Dark Land.  Bowser is a lizard at the end of his rope.  He's watched his perfect plans crumble to dust and all his loyal minions fail him.  He wasn't thinking straight.  Trying to crush Mario was a crude act of despiration, and it did him in.

The Mechakoopas were supposed to KILL Mario, not aid him.  Bowser didn't think they'd be used against him.  He always underestimates his opponent.

The enemies have to make poor decisions for Mario to beat them.  Some of these are blatant plot oversites, others can be explained and are consistent with the enemies' characters.

"El Chupacabra" is how it's spelled in my "X-Files" book.  "Sanctus Yago" is Old Italian for "Saint Jacob."

Sub-Con and Sub-Space may be two more dimensions.  And the Koopas may come from another.  So that would mean there are five-plus parallel universes.  This is starting to sound like "Sliders!"

I came here three years ago looking for a source of Koopa information to make my Koopa list as complete as possible.

My first post on this forum is like June of 1999.  At first I was Mega 3.

Mushroom World is the term I use on my site, so I'll defend that as the actual name of the planet. : )

I interpret the "Super Mario Bros. 3" manual as saying the Mushroom Kingdom, Giant Land, Dark Land, etc. (and by extension Sarasaland, Dinosaur Land, and all those others) are regions on Mushroom World.

As I see it, Mushroom World is the equivalent of Earth in a parallel universe.  Like Xanth, or Tlön.  Every point on Earth has a corresponding point in Mushroom World.  Some of those points are actually connected by warp pipes.  The Mushroom Kingdom corresponds with Brooklyn.
