Yes I know it's an old game, but I never owned a Cube until recently.

And I know it's in the wrong forum. Sorry about that.

What are your opinions on Metroid Prime?

Metroid Prime is incredible. If you have never played it it is definitely a must-buy for the GameCube. I just bought it a few days ago and I love it. One of the best games i have ever played. The music, graphics, gameplay, controls, everything about Metroid Prime is perfect!

Congrats to Retro Studios for successfully resurrecting the Metroid series in 3D.

Old! This news debuted on IGN! And it's old now!

Also who ever said it was a "dumbed down GameCube"? That would mean that it was actually less functional than the GCN was!

!

Original Xbox? It's not like it had better graphics than the GameCube. Really.

I meant "GameCube1.5". Sorry for not getting my quote correct.

If you look at the Xbox game Chronicles of Riddick, you would know that game could never be done on GameCube.

Mario's always been a player.

Super Mario Land took place after Super Mario Bros., keep in mind. Then he went back to Peach. I personally think she's only with him for the security purposes.

Mario the Bodyguard. lol

Did you go to Nintendojo.com? They have a tech demo of the engine running in real-time on the Wii. It looks fantastic. Better than anything else currently out on the Wii.

I always knew the Wii was somewhere around Xbox 1 in terms of graphics potential. Now developers are finally realizing this!

Nintendojo.com has an article (taken from IGN) about a graphics engine that has been developed exclusively for the Wii.

High Voltage's The Conduit Unveiled for Wii
4/23/2008, 11:48am Eastern Time

Chicagoland-based High Voltage Software is looking to put a charge into gamers with its recently announced The Conduit, an exclusive Nintendo Wii game.

The Conduit will be an FPS title that follows the story of a US Secret Service agent as he struggles to find the reasoning behind an extraterrestrial attack on Washington D.C. Among the features being touted for The Conduit are advanced enemy intelligence that will allow for human-like behavior, as well as an in-game item called the All Seeing Eye, which will open up new action and puzzle solving mechanics. The control scheme will apparently be something akin to that of EA's Medal of Honor: Heroes 2.

Perhaps most importantly, High Voltage will use The Conduit as its flagship title to debut its new Quantum3 graphics engine, engineered from the ground up for Nintendo Wii. Quantum3 was designed in part by High Voltage to show gamers, and developers who acquire a license to utilize the company's technology, that Wii is far more capable visually that given credit for.

"Most of the games on the Wii look like crap. We want to change that, so we've invested heavily in our Wii tech over the past year," said High Voltage's Eric Nofsinger. "We have real-time normal mapping, reflection and refraction, post process full screen effects, real-time shadows, projected lights and textures, specularity and fresnel effects, emissive and iridescent materials, interactive water, morphing, and much more all running with a rock solid frame rate on the Wii. Our goal is to be the most technically innovative Wii developer on the planet."

Currently, The Conduit does not have a release date or a publisher, but High Voltage Software is looking to change both of those situations quickly.

If High Voltage can pull this off, people will no longer look at the Wii as a "dumbed down GameCube". Go to Nintendojo.com for more info.

Mario Chat / Re: Who was worse as Mario?
« on: April 24, 2008, 10:03:47 PM »
I'll actually say Lou Albano. I've never seen the Super Show, but he does do the Do The Mario dance at the end of each show, and how cool is it that a wrestler plays as a game character? Okay, not so cool anymore, but as a kid that would have rocked. If I had any clue who Lou Albano was, that is.

...which means my vote is that I thought Bob Hoskins did worse.

I agree that John Leguizamo was pretty bad as a choice for Luigi. No moustache, didn't sound a thing like Luigi. And Luigi got the girl. For Luigi fanboys, that's a dream come true, but for me who didn't see the appeal of Luigi back then, I was wondering "Hey! Why isn't Mario the winner?"

Amuses me to no end that when Nintendo Power was describing the movie, it admitted to all its fans that the movie would be very different from the games. Goombas are not as we know them, Yoshi's completely different, I think they also mentioned Daisy. I know that had I read that article, I would have immediately lost interest in the movie. Or I would have expected it and thus have gone in with a more proper mindset, having lowered expectations.

Yeah, John Leguizamo as Luigi? Who the F@ck made that choice? He was a punk kid! Why would a punk kid be the role of Luigi?

My guess is the only reason Bob Hoskins was chosen as Mario was because he looks like him.

The main thing I didn't like about the movie was the characters were completely different from the games. And the Mario Bros. didn't even wear their trademark overals. Jumpsuits? No thanks.

Mario Chat / Favorite Yoshi game?
« on: April 24, 2008, 09:59:36 PM »
Personally, I loved Yoshi's Island. The graphics were unlike anything else at that time. The music was sublime. The game got really challenging in later levels. Overall it was a masterpiece.

Yoshi's Story was really fun. It seemed like a sorta-sequel to Yoshi's Island, except the whole melon collecting thing got rather tedious. At least it didn't have that screaming Baby Mario to look after!

I always imagined the moustache would be difficult to do, even though the moustache always looks like Mario's smiling. Bottom pic looks good though.

Ever wondered what Mario might look like without his moustache? Me neither.

My eyeballs just fell out of their sockets.

What I'm wondering is why they didn't add music from Galaxy in Brawl when they added music from Guns of the Patriots (Metal Gear), which hasn't even come out yet.

Funny, a lot of the Metal Gear Solid references were from the PS2 games! I guess Sakurai likes his PS2...

How did he model that game for the DS? Does he own a DS development kit or something?

No, not everyone knows Link. The meatheads I was talking about before think his name is Zelda.

The Pokémon series is undeniably losing popularity... back in the '90s it was a different story, but times change.

Pokemon losing popularity? Say it ain't so! What's replacing it? Halo?

Makes him unpredictable, a plus, doesn't it?Fixed.

Kind of off topic... Do you think the new Sonic Chronicles RPG (DS) is going to be any good? It kind of reminds me of Super Mario RPG with the art style (yay!)
