Get Peach, heal when necessary, don't change targets when he uses his mirage attack, and you're fine.

Or you can take the cheater way and get to level 30 BEFORE Yarid. There is a Dry Bones by the shopkeeper in the sunken ship. You get great exp when you win that fight, and once Mallow is high enough leveled, you can wipe out EVERYTHING with 1 Thunderbolt. EASY EXP!

Make sure you use Peach.  Her group hug really comes in handy.  After moves like Water Blast, hug em all.  Put on good weapons and armour as well.

To face Yaridovich you have to have Toadstool learn "Comeback" in order to revive allies, and it only costs 2 FP! Keep in mind that Yarid has 1500 hit points and is WEAK against THUNDER so have Mallow in the battle and make him use "Shocker" as much as possible! If he makes the mirage, us an item/attack that hits all enemies like the Rock Candy, Ice Bombs, Thunderbolt, etc.

Remember: Those of you reading this will take advantage from this too!

OR you could get them all at a decent level and smack Yarid' with physical attacks, healing when necessary. The Frying Pan helps, I think. Anyway, that's the way I always do it.
That was a joke.

When he does the mirage attack the one that you do the most damage to is the real one.

It's easier just not to select the other one, since the cursor stays on the original. That's a lot simpler too.

MarioandLink, you are wrong. The original one is the one with armor. If you do like 3 times more damage than normal, then you're attacking the fake one. Trust me, I once killed him during his Mariage Attack by hitting the one I do less damage to.

MadMario is correct.  The one that receives more damage is the fake one.

However...in my game, when he uses mirage, the one that is NOT selected is the fake.

Your party is at lvls 12-13? That's your problem right there. Usually I'm around lvl 15 when I take on Yarid. Just make sure you have a lot of healing items (more syrups if you have Peach in your party) and the best armor you can get at the time. Yarid can be pretty tough if you're not prepared.

I usually fight him with Mallow and Bowser in my party. It's hard but fun. :)
