Title: Winter 2005 ADVANCED POSTER Awards

Now, I will probably be hated for doing this.... But I have some very strange feeling that Meowrik isn't going to be back. So I've decided that I should take over this. As many of you know, I hate making topics, because I am terrible at making them. I am going to wait until Friday evening to post the categories, this will give me some time to make them and whatnot. Also, this may give a little more time, if perhaps Meowrik is still lingering around, and he would like to take over. If not, I think I am going to take charge.

For those of you who don't know, the Poster awards were started a long time ago. Meowrik eventually took them over, and made them the highlight of the winter (and summer) for many of us.

So between today and tomorrow, I would like to have some suggestions for categories.

The Rules will be posted along with the categories tomorrow evening. Voting Begins as soon as the categories are posted.  Voting closes Janurary 10th, 2006.

I've missed out on this every year so this time I'll try to be a part of it.  Sounds like fun!

Category ideas, ey?  I doubt few of my thoughts will be good but I'll give it a shot.
Most knowledgable poster award.  Best/worst speller award.  Most considerate/inconsiderate person (maybe I shouldn't suggest negative things but just in case that's allowed, I will).  Funniest/most annoying poster.  Favorite story-teller poster.  Best/worst topic making poster.  Most html/BBcode user poster.  Most knowledgeable about Mario/TMK/whatever poster.  Fastest/slowest poster.  Most handsome/beautiful poster (again, I have a bad feeling about this one).  Most nostalgic poster (joke XD).  Poster that said WTD the most amount of times.  Favorite signature poster.  Favorite profile picture poster.  Most obsessed with whatever poster.  Longest/shortest typing poster.  Most random poster.  Most dedicated to whatever poster.  Most emailed/personal messaged poster or poster who gives the most emails/PMs.  I am all out of ideas poster.

Well, here it is, the Poster Awards, 2005. You may notice that some of the categories are re-cycled, some are new, and some are just terrible. It was intended to be so. I have included some questions you can ask yourself along the way to pick the best choice. Follow the rules, don’t turn this into a flame, and rock on.

Categories

Poster of the Year- Who is the person that best exemplifies TMK?  Who has done extraordinary things to make the forums a great place? Who pops in your mind first when you think of the forums? This year, who would you conceder the “best poster”?

Topic of the Year- Sure, this one may get a little heat from all of you. Which topic have you gotten the most out of from posting in? Which topic did you enjoy talking in the most? Was it a funny topic? Was it serious? For your vote to count, you must link directly to the topic. You also must provide the topic starter’s name next to the link. The topic must have been posted in in the year 2005.

Post of the Year- Which response to a thread did you get the most joy out of reading? Which post was the most helpful to you? Was it a very funny post?  For your vote to count, you must link directly to the topic. You also must provide the poster’s name next to the link. The post must have been made in the year 2005.

Most Productive Poster- This is NOT the person whom you think posts the most. In fact, this award is far from that. This award goes to the person whom you feel makes the most of his or her time here. Perhaps the poster made 2 posts in the last month? Is this person annoying? (That answer to that one should be “no.”).

Smartest Poster- Which person here has demonstrated the most knowledge? This not only pertains to the Mario world, but to the real world as well. Who here has demonstrated his or her scholarship and alacrity through his or her posts?

Most Amiable Poster- Who here makes you feel the most comfortable? Is this person always kind to everyone? Which person here is able to brighten your day with his or her personality?

Best Signature- We’re going to try something new for this one. This one is simple. Which signature do you think rocks? For your vote to count, you must include the poster, and his or her signature that you vote for. For example; my chemistry signature is a completely separate vote from my Button signature.

Funniest Poster- Who makes you laugh the most? This one isn’t even worth an explanation, it’s self explanatory.

Most Creative Poster- Who is the most unique with his or her posts, ideas, or views?

 With the advent of the Private Message function, I'd imagine that's probably a good way to vote. What with being confidential and all. It's not a big deal or anything, but I'm just throwing it out there.

My first inclination was not to vote because of the difficulty of deciding whom or what to choose for each category. As I read through the categories and rules, though, I began to come up with some ideas. A little later, after some searching, every category was filled. There were still some tough cases, however, so I decided to include runners-up for the close calls and for what or whom I consider to be worth honorable mention.


Poster of the Year
» Watoad's Vote:  Sapphira
One of the forums' greatest posters of all time, she all but disappeared earlier this year. With the board upgrade, however, she made a triumphant return, and she's still posting strong.
» Runner-up:  Lizard Dude
Cool topics, great jokes, and loads of fun posts. A great example to not only to newbies, but to us all!

I meant that we don't consider them n00bs, just newbs. They ARE two different things, right?
It would show that we consider the new people, and respect the older members.
It would be a good award, as it makes new people post less, and let's them know that, someone out there cares for the little guys and gals.

Poster of the Year: Watoad
{Always nice to everyone and genuinely cares, I think it's safe to say that no one here doesn't like this guy. His posts are always witty, clever, funny, and/or insightful; he ALWAYS has something meaningful to say, and his topics are always awesome; you can tell he always puts a lot of time and thought into his posts.  Considered for Most Productive Poster, Most Amiable Poster, creator of Topic of the Year, having the Best Sig, and actually voted for having the Post of the Year, it's obvious why he'd be Poster of the Year.}

Yay! I'm on here! Those "dud" topics are "duds" because I didn't know what to do or say. I just felt like I had to say something. That's newbie for you I guess... ;)

I have to say, I really like it here. It seems like I have been on the Fungi Forums forever! I have alot of memories. Good ones, too. I made alot of new friends, and people that actually have the same likes as me. Deezer, unlike most forum admins, is very nice! He answers my PMs and helps me alot. It's surprising really. At gamefaqs, the forum admins were all so bossy and mean, for lack of a better word. I don't have a large vocabulary.

Anyways, I love this place, and I will never want to leave!

Well, we're not a big snotty corporation forum like them.  Not that I've ever been there, but you gave me a pretty good idea from that last post...

I've never really had that much success with topics on here either.  My most successful topic was about 600 posts long.  That seems like a lot, but I know it can't stand against Mario Bar or the Mario Word Association.  All I'm saying, is it doesn't matter how many replies you get in a topic.  Just have fun here.  And about being bossy and mean, you should be glad that you were never here when marioguy was.

I’m going to vote now, but not for every category.  I wanted to do that, but I don’t think I will because I feel like there are people out there that deserve the right votes and I haven’t exactly paid good attention to these things during the year so I couldn’t give them what they deserve.  People who are more popular or have capitalized names are the first that come to my mind, so that should help you see why I am a bad voter.  This is my first time to do this so next year (this year) I will try to pay better attention to these things and make the right decisions.  Thanks to the people who voted for me!

Poster of the Year- Watoad! 
I think Sapphira is absolutely right.  Never before have I met such a smart, kind, and funny person. (And he’s an evil version of Toad for goodness sake!)  He takes time to answer all of your questions and comments to him, sees things from other points of views, knows where to find good information, almost never gets angry, and tells hilarious jokes but usually keeps them clean too.  I want to be more like this person when I say things here.  But just in my own way you know.

Topic of the Year- GiftedGirl’s  The Pointless Topic! (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=6575.0)
My first thought was Sapphira’s Ultimate Birthday Compilation because that was a fun idea I had too and wanted to happen so we could know about each other’s birthdays.  But “Pointless” has really allowed me to flex my creativity and come up with these crazy new ideas.  Sometimes I feel like GiftedGirl and I have a few of the same bizarre thoughts and opinions about things floating in our heads even though I might hate to admit it (hope I didn’t freak you out here, GG).  The preview for Revenge of the Dukar could be the most hilarious or extremely weird thing that I ever made and loved dreaming up.  However, that’s not the main reason.  It’s at this topic that I got my idea for the Mario characters in my signature and will probably love and keep forever.  And sometimes I laugh at the other strange things people say.
Third runner-up: (insert adjective here) story.  Lots of good, funny history in there.  I wish it would come back again but I might just bore it back down to the grave.

Even today I am so shocked and amazed at what he said in this topic.  Without sounding nervous or afraid of how people will accept his story, he talks about a very very personal and emotional experience in his life where he sees an incredible vision through another friend’s help.  If you can read the whole thing without feeling something deep in yourself then I have to wonder if you are really human or just not alive.  Although I have wondered at times if this was real or not, I also remember that it wouldn’t make sense to lie about something that could make you look like a fool.

I believe she’s just as nice as Watoad is.  Her personality reminds me of a wonderful girl/friend from my old school who treats everyone like a friend.  And how can you not smile with all of the quirky emoticons she uses? XD

Once again Sapphira has helped me change my mind.  Lizard Dude’s “I’m a stupid fatty…” was my first vote because when I first came here that was one of the first sigs I remember reading and it gave me a good laugh.  But when I first saw the sig Watoad made I immediately liked it a lot.  I heard the quote from a book and forgot all about it until he said it again.  For me it reminds me that life is only temporary and should never be wasted.  I can’t believe I voted for Watoad three times!  But I guess I can in a way. 

Funniest Poster- I would have to say Lizard Dude with all his funny pictures, funny songs like Deezer the Snowman, stupid fatty signature, and parody threads like “The Mushroom Teleporter”.  And also… he made the kids cry when they thought he died. Who knows what’s going to happen next April? (Lizard Dude really does die and no one believes it)

Favorite story teller: The Blue Toad.  He wrote a story called "The Mushroom Kingdom's Annual Ball" or something like that, and the entire story made me laugh forever.  Good work!  Right now I'm reading PaperLuigi's "When Yoshis dream..." and like that too.  Sapphira, I love your Prophecy story like crazy, but I feel like I can't give you my vote until you write the rest.  Sorry.

And there you have it. *pulls the lever and walks away* Hey, Koopaslaya, what will the awards look like?  Are they just words that say “Winner of the such-and-such award is so-and-so!” or do we get a picture of a trophy with our names on them?  Like a Mario Kart trophy picture edited with words over it.

All the main votes have been tallied and all winners have been decided, all except for those in the tie-breaker round. After the tie-breakers, those winners will be added to the other already-decided winners. Tie-breaker winners will be decided Tuesday morning (or Monday night, depending on your time zone), and then the awards ceremony will be presented shortly thereafter.

And we really need more tie-breaker votes. :/

He noticed the picture on it, which showed the button being pressed and then wavy red lines coming from the vent as a result. As another tribute to the winners of the Poster Awards, if you won anything--1st place, runner-up, or honorable mention--you may have your very own Custom Title (of your choice, as long as it's approved of) if you like. I know most of the people who won awards are mods or admins, so this CT thing applies to "regular" members Bird Person, Hirocon, Black Mage, Markio, Koopaslaya, and Yoshisaurus Rex.

If you're one of those people, just PM me (here or in the chatroom) if you'd like one, and to what you'd like it to be. If you're content without one (or with your current one, if it applies to you), that's fine, too. You'll still be entitled if you ever change your mind. ;)

Wow, that was great!  Excellent job, Koopaslaya and Sapphira with the award making and hosting!  And hats off to the voters as well.  Thanks for the people who voted for me too, that was a nice surprise that I didn't really deserve imo.  This year I aim to win something though so watch out!  "I'll get you Eh Steve!  If it's the last thing I--" *gets blow'd up*  But I think that I may never be able to think of any sig that could beat the Bacon sig.  "We can't beat ze Bacon, zir!  Eez too powerful for uz all!"

Hey, wasn't there something about a 2005 memories recap?  Not that I'm worried about people seeing my stuff but I want to see what other people had to say.
