Title: Important New Rules
Post by: Sapphira on April 04, 2004, 03:09:48 PM
(Posted - 18 March 2004 9:10 PST)
Beginning as of now is the "Strike System."

~If you break one of the rules, you get one warning first, then three "strikes"--or chances to get away with breaking the rules--without 'punishment'
~If broken three times, you are at the mercy of the admins' discretion, meaning you are subject to being banned.
~However, if you EDIT your OWN remarks after realizing you could get a "strike" for it, and it's BEFORE a mod/admin has to edit it, you'll be fine.
In other words, if a post has to be edited for lack of following a rule, STRIKE. Don't get caught. >:P

Every time a person's post is edited, I will discretely put at the bottom "Warning," "Strike 1," etc.

~ALSO!! Depending on the severity of the "crime" depends on how many strikes you get.
~The common ones, like swearing and spamming = 1, but something like posting porn, etc, is an automatic ban. (But you all knew that)

I apologize for having to be so strict; I really don't WANT to have to do this, but these boards have gotten out of hand. Don't trifle with me on this one.

---This is the OFFICIAL start now, as in the staff/mods will back me up now.  All warnings/strikes I've already given still count. I'll post the statistics here to keep track (for the mods/admins and myself, mostly.) Now that this is in its own thread, there's no "excuse" for "misbehavior."

Please, any mods/admins report "misbehavior" here, so I can keep track of everything.---

~NOTE: Editing your post AFTER a mod/admin has edited it (to cover the edit up) is an automatic strike, too.

Uh, Sapph, are you planning to post who has strikes and warnings?  If you are, it would probably be better to only post for people who want to know if they have a strike or warning and straight out ask, because the fact that someone has a strike might be held against that person.  Just a suggestion, ignore it if it's the stupidest thing you've ever heard.

THESE ARE CRAZY RULES. These forums used to be cool without all of these new silly "strike systems" or bickering popping up everywhere. All this is is a flame war with gas poured on the fuse; actually, not just this thread, but for the whole dang site. People can *SIMPLY* get another username and come right back in the door. I don't think you can ban IPs, because everybody with that certain IP wouldn't be able to come to this forum. An innocent person wanting to join probably couldn't because of these dumb "rules."

"~If broken three times, you are at the mercy of the admins' discretion, meaning you are subject to being banned."

Pff, what would Deezer or MB do? They probably don't give a hoot about this.

"~However, if you EDIT your OWN remarks after realizing you could get a "strike" for it, and it's BEFORE a mod/admin has to edit it, you'll be fine."

Who in the right mind would waste their time coming back to edit a post because they are scared of "the strike." How would they know what was right or wrong?

"In other words, if a post has to be edited for lack of following a rule, STRIKE."

How stupid is this? jon, I am really beginning to believe you when you say that certain people are acting as if they own the place. Talk about power-hungry; HA, and everyone said Meowrik and I were power hungry when I kicked two people and Meowrik kicked three at the chatroom (over the whole time of being mods). It's just that nobody gives one crap because Sapphira/etc. are mods/admins and favorites among some members here.

"Every time a person's post is edited, I will discretely put at the bottom 'Warning,' 'Strike 1,' etc."

But what if you edit it to fix a link or something, huh?

"...but something like posting porn, etc, is an automatic ban. (But you all knew that)"

So, uh, why'd you say it?

"I apologize for having to be so strict; I really don't WANT to have to do this..."

You better apoligize... then don't do it if you don't. I really don't think it's neccesary.

"...but these boards have gotten out of hand."

NAH...

"Don't trifle with me on this one."

I'm not gonna trifle; I'm gonna rifle myself in the head because of the level of foolishness here...

"---This is the OFFICIAL start now, as in the staff/mods will back me up now."

Because you are the only female?

"I'll post the statistics here to keep track (for the mods/admins and myself, mostly.)"

Oh, great...

"...there's no 'excuse' for 'misbehavior.'"

Sure there can be.

"Please, any mods/admins report "misbehavior" here, so I can keep track of everything.---"

Oh, how formal.

"~NOTE: Editing your post AFTER a mod/admin has edited it (to cover the edit up) is an automatic strike, too."

Rubbish. I don't think anyone in the world would care on bit.

"Todd Begin: 0
Childofthepotatoe: 0"

Did they ask? Why did you randomly put their "strike levels" there.

HA, OF COURSE I will get a strike for speaking my mind. It'll probably be and automatic ban because I am stating my opinions against Sapphira's which she'll get fired up about because she is right and we're all wrong. Nobody else in the world is right; all of these new mods are right. Bow down to them...

"Don't get caught. >:P"

I won't be caught because I'm leaving these idiotic forums.

It's nice that you presented your opinion, Trainman. However, the manner in which you've done so will not help your case.

If you really wish for your thoughts and suggestions to be considered, you must lose your tone.

That's not to say I disagree with you, nor that I agree with you, however, after reading your post, I don't believe you'll get anywhere. Leaving these 'idiotic' forums really won't give anyone a reason to warrant your opinion any respect, either.

What you should do is, instead of simply bashing this new system, come up with a different solution, or if things are alright the way they are now, then reasons why this system ought not be implemented.

Strictly complaining and taking personal shots at others isn't a good place to start.

Trainman, your post made me laugh, even though your reasons were a bit hugh-jiminy.  I also agree with Black Mage.

The only things I disagree with that Sapphira said were the posting the strikes for everyone to see, which I guess is sort of necessary, and the "no excuse" thing.  Of course there are excuses!  They're just bad excuses.

Meowrik, go watch something else.  Like a wall.

I just made up the phrase "hugh-jiminy" right now.

Obviously they aren't. Thank goodness someone actually found out a way to keep marioguy out for good (he told me).

I told marioguy to just make another email address, but he's too lazy. If he doesn't want to come back, that's his problem.

And I think this strike system is stupid. It's not going to help anything. The forum is already messed up as it is. You need the man, Deezer, to start doing something in these forums more to get everyone back into shape.

*takes popcorn back and gets up*

At the risk of probably offending someone I'm gonna get up and say something. I've been to these forums for a slightly long time, not as long as many people, but long enough to see the forums have taken a drastic turn for the worse. It's largely everyone's fault.

It started with the flamers and spammers. They're the main culprits, and there's nothing you can do to prevent them.

Mods tried to contain them but the sheer audacity of the spammers/flamers was too much and so the mods got lazy. Now lazy/inactive mods is a problem.

Regular members like myself who fuel arguments whether it be by accident or not are also to blame. We're not directly causing trouble but merely adding wood to the fire.

Lately, a power-driven Sapphira is also to blame. Although her containment procedures seem to work to an extent, in the long run, it just causes a bit of a ruckus sometimes.

Unless we can all calm down, the future of the Fungi Forums looks gloomy...

*returns to sitting down with popcorn*

I'm not a lazy mod. I run through all the threads three or four times a day and do everything that is needed. I singlehandedly deleted about twenty-five marioguy threads and fifty marioguy posts one day last week before anyone even noticed. Maybe I just do it all before the other mods can.

~That is the most immature statement I have ever heard from you, TM. I'm NOT power hungry--I just am intoleant of rule-breaking. You may be tactless and downright rude, (and you DID offend me, BTW) but you didn't break any rules. Unlike what most of you seem to believe, I'm not evil.

"I told marioguy to just make another email address, but he's too lazy"
~Jon, you are a sad, sick little man. I openly despise every word and action you ever do because you are selfish, rude, and are trying to bring down the forums as a whole. Nice job.

"You need the man, Deezer, to start doing something in these forums more to get everyone back into shape."
~I asked him what he thought about this Strike System--as well as what all the other admin-staff members--and they all thought it was a good idea. Deezer's approval was the most influential reason WHY I posted this thread. I'll post quotes later, if it's necessary. MB wanted to DELETE the FF altogether.

"Now lazy/inactive mods is a problem....Lately, a power-driven Sapphira is also to blame."
~I beg your pardon, Meowrik? I--nor especially CW, LD or MB--are neither lazy nor inactive. (LD's above post alone states that--and I do the same thing)
Just because I simply don't post as much CERTAINLY doesn't mean I'm not here, reading everything you guys say--including all of everyone's insults. AND FOR THE LAST TIME, I'M NOT POWER-DRIVEN! See my explaination in "Hold Up!"

Hmm...what I find interesting is that the only ones who utterly oppose this idea altogether are the ones who break the rules...

He's right, this forum is coming to a point to where we have to obey the mods and admins sooner or later. I mean, we can't even give out our opinions about crap without you guys editing it and then supporting each other. That statement Trainman said is becoming quite true.

Why does Deezer's "vote" matter? He's barely even here to know what's going on. This Strike System is not going to help anything. I don't know why you even came up with it. Nice to see the rules are finally being laid out, per se.

As for moderating, I've read A LOT of hateful comments about me closing threads instead of deleting them. Listen, I'm an admin on a 10,000+ member forum! There's a good reason I was initally chosen as a mod here. That is, the staff here trust my opinions. I close threads instead of deleting them because I want the admins here to SEE what is going on!

*sigh* -- don't mind me, I'm in my "blow up at everything" mood today.

Should I report strikes and things here? Or come up with, as I said before, my own crazy idea?

Yeah, I was too when I posted my post. Sorry, Sapph, but some things I said are true or mostly true in the mods/admins' eyes.

Ok, lemme get to it. WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS.... that this strike system is not giving a fair chance to everyone who comes here except for the people who act "perfect" and never do anything wrong.

One warning and three chances beyond that seems pretty lenient to me...

Also, what are you talking about, the mods/admins viewing it differently? The only reason I "officially" start this was because they all thought it was a good idea--on their own accord.

Deezer said Uh?  I'm satisfied.

I am going to say the only things that truly make me feel uncomfortable around the forum:

1. The posting strikes in public.  Of course, Sapphira is considering how to handle this, and if she really wants to post them for all to see, I'll respect her decision, which ever because even if people condescend others and/or make fun of them for being striked, then they have  to consider their personal moral code, fast.

2.  The little things that mods write when they edit other people's posts.  I mean, when the postor said something mildly bad, but bad enough to be edited, the response that the editor gives let's others that read it assume that it was something a whole lot worse.  Of course, this is MY problem, it really isn't relevant.  I don't even know why I posted it.

That's all that actually bothers me when I'm on the boards.  Of course, it isn't the mods that necessarily are to blame.  It's a two-way street.  Most of us (whoever) are making this strike system into a bigger deal than it really is.  Or maybe I'm the only one doing that.  All that should happen is that the average postors accept the strike system, and the moderators and administrators are strict to a fair extent.  I mean, they lay down the law and don't overdo it. "Strict" might be too strong a word.  That's all.

My question: When was this "officially" discussed among ALL the mods? I never heard about it.

And if the answer is the chat, I have this feeling I'm missing out on A LOT of opportunities because I have had bad experiences with the chat and won't go there anymore... (And the Java doesn't work anymore).

I.S.: True, it WAS discussed among all the mods/admins while in the chatroom, but if I recall correctly, both of us discussed the strike system before any of them did--in "what in the name of Mario....?"

You seemed--at least IMO--to think this was a good idea. I elaborated, but you never responded.

All of "Mario Word Association" would be lost if we started from scratch.

I'm all for this strike system. Nobody should care about punishment of rule breakers if they plan to not break rules themselves. I'd prefer IP banning after first offences (if IP means that it prevents them from ever joining here again with the same internet account, but I don't know)It's not like you can accidently let something slip like in casual conversation. Everyone here is typing whatever they post, and, so far, every keyboard I've seen has had a backspace button, so common cence says that if a person takes the time to fill out their username and password, type something here,  and click reply, they meant to break whatever rule they happen to break and deserve to be banned. Nobody is crazy enough to type and post a rule breaking item out of impulse and not catch themselves before clicking respond. See there, I typed every swear word I know, but nobody can see it or tell there was anyhing there. I say thumbs up to strike system.
I suppose I'll discuss some of the more serious issues.

"All of "Mario Word Association" would be lost if we started from scratch."

I mean't everyone's arguing and hatrid.

"I'm all for this strike system. Nobody should care about punishment of rule breakers if they plan to not break rules themselves."

There's always a time in your life when you have to break the rules to get a point out.

"I'd prefer IP banning after first offences (if IP means that it prevents them from ever joining here again with the same internet account, but I don't know)"

It doesn't even work.

"Everyone here is typing whatever they post, and, so far, every keyboard I've seen has had a backspace button, so common cence says that if a person takes the time to fill out their username and password, type something here, and click reply, they meant to break whatever rule they happen to break and deserve to be banned."

I was about to be banned for stating my opinion. Why would I backspace an opinion?

"See there, I typed every swear word I know, but nobody can see it or tell there was anyhing there."

They would only care if it was shown anyway. You could probably make love to yourself and no one would know.

"I say thumbs up to strike system."

Heck no.

"I suppose I'll discuss some of the more serious issues."

I think we all know what they are.

"Brother who commonly posts here: agrees with me in slight, thinks Trainman has some good points."

"I was about to be banned for stating my opinion. Why would I backspace an opinion?"

~No, you were about ready to be banned for THESE reasons:

"1. No swearing.

- I dont swear. The closest I get is heck, crap, or the basic words that aren't censored."

~That's still swearing, which is breaking the rules, no?

"2. No flame wars.

- Yeah, obviously I do this, but if you to blame me for this, you should also blame Meowrik and Sapphira because they get in the flame war, so don't blame it all on me. I can't get banned for this if a member and an admin is doing it as well."

~Arguments are different than flame wars. Flame wars are blatant insults, slander and bashing. To my awareness, I have never done this. I DEFEND what I state--and with truth and logic.

4. No advertising web sites, unless you are including it as your source of information.

- I had done this in General Chat (topic got deleted after I put some HTML in the topic title to make the topic noticible), but there were a few other members posting their sites in General Chat, so I did it too. No one seemed to care.

~Constantly referencing it to other people--beyond the thread to "recruit" members (and discussing it with those members), which I don't think is seen as "advertising"--IS breaking the rule, like "go check out my site! [link]!" You've done that MANY times.

On top of that, you've spammed the forums, another rule, and taught the "secret" to a banned person, whom you've also encouraged to destroy the forums.

That's 4 RULES you've REPEATEDLY broken, not to mention several other bannable offenses. Merely stating your opinion is not what's going against you. It's the other 6 continuous rule breaking that IS.

Though I shouldn't have to tell you this, quoting the statement to which you're directly referring to eliminates confusion.

Granted it can look a little messy, sometimes, but when used, it can be quite effective in expressing your views precisely.

Yes, you didn't have to tell me that, I already knew that.  I always ask rhetorical questions, it's a problem I have.  My point was that there are a lot of quotes, not that it isn't necessary, although it's only necessary to some extent.  Like, quoting from a post right above one's own post, unless it's a long post.

"On top of that, you've spammed the forums, another rule, and taught the "secret" to a banned person, whom you've also encouraged to destroy the forums."

Those two offenses are not one of the 4 rules:

1.No swearing

2.No flame wars

3.NO TALKING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS(shouting)

4.No advertising websites, unless you're including it as your source of information

That proves that jon only broke 2 rules.

Whoa, Sapphira, calm down. I am all for your new foot-down harsh rules. I'm an ally to the Mods and Administrators. Go yell at someone who is against it.

I do not start flame wars. If I defend myself in one that is not flaming. If my statements against other people make sense and are backed up by evidence, it's not flaming either.

Those are only the four main rules, other unmentioned offences are still possible. For example: I remember a sign at a park that had some rules, No dogs, Park closed after 8:00 pm etc. but on the sign I saw no rule against unlicensed medical treatment, or assault, yet if I had done either in that park, there would have been punishment-type happenings goin' down. It doesn't need to be on the rules list to be against the rules.

"No Spamming" is a rule in the chatroom, and mods/admins CONSTANTLY have to take care of the spamming that goes on in here, so I'd say it's safe to say that "No Spamming" IS a rule in here, even though it's not actually listed.

Meowrik: What are you talking about? I was merely QUOTING jon, and, as you can see, was defending AGAINST it. I didn't say anything about you either way, and I DEFINITELY was not "yelling" at you. :(

Popple: Good analogy. Thanks. ;)

Oh yes, more info going against you, jon:

1) If banned, you've indignantly stated that you'll be coming back. Coming back after being banned seems like an EXTRA good reason to KEEP you banned.

2) You've repeatedly threatened to destroy the forums.

3) You seems to be friends with Teen Titan Raven and marioguy -- TWO people who've had to be REPEATEDLY banned. That seems pretty conspicuous to me.
How do I know this? Well, considering the THREE of them began terrorizing me over IM--and all of them in the SAME "ROOM" TOGETHER...

4) Either you and/or your "cronies" made a slanderous and middle-school-style insult topic about me yesterday, which was immeidately deleted. MB tells me something to the effect of that topic kept being recreated, and he kept having to intervene.
That ALONE is a good enough reason to be banned.

5) Not just the uncensored profanity, huh, jon? That's why you began to call me the "B" word, but cut yourself off, huh? Maybe you didn't completely go out and say it, but the point of it was still there. It's bad enough to swear, but to verbally ATTACK someone with it (flaming!)--ESPECIALLY to an admin/mod...that ups the ante, and you're treading on dangerous ground.

6) Once again, let's not forget all those other rules you broke--and openly admit to, even while trying to DEFEND yourself--on the aforementioned page.

Everyone already made their point, "Jon is bad", whatever!  You don't have to add more things against Jon.  You don't need to kick a corpse when it's already dead.  And Jon, we know you disagree with them, so you don't have to prove it.  There, now can everyone stop posting in relationship to only one other poster?  It's getting boring, and pointless.  No wonder MegaByte wanted to delete this whole forum.  Maybe if we stop trying to fix it up, it would stay less complicated and full of junk.  And when junk pops up, Mods should delete it, and that's that.

On top of that, everyone is arguing in here! Now, I know most of you don't see eye to eye on a lot of things. But arguing and double-quoting certainly isn't going to help solve your problems.

In my opinion, these forums were a lot better when people weren't trying to make it better and stuff.

Not really; I like to ride my bike and do tricks so it has to be, "I am a dead guy riding and tricking."

Does THAT answer some questions about Deezer being "lazy?" He has a life to attend to as I've said before.

jon, I hate to tell you this, but verbally abusing an op is an offense on IRC and not just on TMK. For some reason, nothing happens. Oh well...

Well, I think jon is cool and everyone should leave him alone. I bet he's palying around with some things he saying, but some of you are taking this WAY, WAY too seriously. I bet he has better things to do. There have been some good points, but I'm not gonna triple-quote and copy/pasted 6 pages of good points, so I will levae it like this.

LET'S ALL BE FRIENDS, AND STOP ARGUING. Let's let the Strike System do its thing and if someone has a dispute about it, ASK A MOD/OP INSTEAD OF YELLING AND COMPLAINING AND WE'LL GET IT FIXED. Decipher everything between the mod/op(s) like civil people and not flame back and forth. (I'm starting to not like the word "flame." It sounds plain childish. It sounds like some knocking something over and being accused of "blasting" something [a true story pertaining to me I'll talk about that later if you want]. I'll just say "argue" or something similar.)

"I would like to see Trainman's aforementioned story."

Ok. Well, I was at the lake one day with my cousin (right down the road), and we found the neighborhood idiot's stupid "camp fireplace" that he used for making senseless fires with. They were just coming back from the lake and were about halfway up the road to their house when we both came by (neighbor's dad, sisters, etc.). My cousin and I threw around some of the surrounding rocks, rearranged them,  and broke some bottles there. 3-4 weeks later (just a week ago by now) he comes up to my house where he shouldn't have been and accuses me of this crap of "blasting" his fireplace to a cinder. He said that his dad was watching us do this. But wait, how did he see us if they were already at their house when we passed them? Does his dad have the ability to teleport? I don't think so. So this "My dad saw you crap" IS crap. I replied that I took some of the rocks from it to smash the bottles and then he said not to "blast" it again. He is a dumb 7th grader, and my dad comes to the door and asks, "What's the deal?" Brandon (Idiot) keeps saying "blasted my fireplace" all the time and my dad asks what "blast" means. That idiot Brando acts like it's a word that just "everyone should know by now." He can't even explain it correctly. When my dad asked, he replied with, "You know, blasting the fireplace." My dad wasn't amused and just said that he shouldn't worry about little things like that.

Well, Powers and I go back down to the lake trying to get Brandon's attention to fake him out about "blasting" the camp fireplace again. We go down there and Powers throws a bottle of that powdered pickle tasting stuff, 'Lucas.' [sic] He also dumps a bunch of pecans everywhere Brandon had in a pie pan. He comes down there and starts accusing me of crap again although it was Powers doing it. I didn't want to start any crap with Brandon just because we both could kick his butt because Brandon doesn'r realize what he's up against. He told us to leave and said that he knew the guy who owned the land and would get us in trouble. I then proceeded to say that it didn't matter if you know the guy who owns the land; it doesn't make it *your land.* And as far as I'm concerned, I don't know the person who owns this and I don't even know if Brandon was telling the truth, so I shall consider it goverment/city property until I know otherwise.

Then we left. No 7th grader who doesn't know what he's up against rule my life or my friends'.

Meowrik, we now know who's the real fool here. I was not BAND from this board (but I was pretty close). I left because I hated the stupid rules. And I still do. But most of all, I hated Sapphira, and once again, I still do. Heck, even Trainman hates her. He admitted it in my Anti-tmk story over at the Yoshi Forums.

And Trainman, I'm not sure if you got my apologie and forgiveness, but I forgive you, and once again, sorry for being a [jerk]. Your not such a (you know what) after all.

Oh, and if your wondering why I was so mad is because Sapph busted me for cursing, but did she bust people who swear more than I do (*cough*Mr.Wiggles*cough*)? No, she didn't. Basically, I got steamed because she was not treating me fairly.

While very different than how Alucard used it, your stupid strike system is classless. Your standards of morality are anything but balanced, and becuase this flawed strike system is run by you, you will bust people unfairly. Words C, H, and A are not censored, yet you freak out if anyone used them as if someone used the F word. The forums are failing, and your strike system is not helping. If anything, it's making the forums worse.

EDIT: I'm talking to YOU, [Sapphira].

The apocalypse of these forums is upon us... it won't be long until they're just a rarely-inhabited spamming grounds. Sadly, the Fungi Forums are not what they used to be. The only thing I see worse about the forums in this era as compared to other eras is that people suddenly started complaining about the forum. Everything else is the same.

Conclusion: The downfall of the forum is people complaining about the downfall of the forum.

Ah, for Christ's sake. Tman, why don't you leave these idiots and come back to TYFN. You, my friend, are welcome there any time. BTW, I'm not sure if you read my post, but here it is:

QUOTE (Tman @ Apr 28 2004, 02:32 AM, TYFN)
-----------------------------------
[Read all of it; nothing is mean]

1.Actually... Alucard, I accepted your apology and wanted to apoligize back to you cuz I was a little mean, but you sort of left.  I don't care what anybody does there now. I just go there to check some things just as jon does.

2.(Lonic, what do you mean "Batman & Robin?")

3.I just got p***** a little at you when you kept giving me crap about being a mod.
I wasn't trying to p*** you off; I was telling you what everyone else's opinions.
I'm sorry if they weren't what you expected or wanted, but hey, I didn't tell them to do that.

4.Look, all of y'all act like me and Meowrik are a 'team.' Well, we're not; we just are friends who think the same, often...

5.Let him post whatever the heck he wants and talk to him, not me. Don't include me as a cause of his bad posts or opinions toward you or others. I didn't provike him or tell him.

6.Aye, Mguy, nice to see you. Haven't in a while. You gotta give me a little credit cuz I saved your  when you were on your vacation to (where was it again)? People were giving you some real BS and I defended you. I told them to stick up there  a few times.

7.Aye Alucard, tell me again why you hate me? Whatever it is, I'll fix it so you won't.

8.I saw a quote that I was mean to newbies;  no. That's Meowrik's f****** deal. I don't boss anybody around; I get ****ed off at retarded people. Also, I'm not a d*** Nintendo 'geek.' I decided to go to the forums just to say, "Hi, how ya doin," then post, and go. I don't sit there arguing over other systems and decipher every dumb, little detail. I might argue a price, but not a system. I've played PS2 a lot of times, so don't worry.

9.So as a last word, can we end this and f****** get along? I don't want to be considered a TMK worshipper, cuz I'm not. Oh, and I'm not obsesses with trains, dude. It's just my name.
------------------------------------

Quote (Lonic the Elfinhog @ May 5 2004, 3:18 PM, TYFM)
-----------------------------------
1. That you did.

2.I only said that because I thought you wanted to get jon banned, like Meowrik.

3.That is true, you did p*** off Trainman, Alucard. I don't think Tman wanted to be a mod in the first place, anyway.

4.Well since you put it that way...

5.Who are you talking about, Alucard or I?

6.Thats true.

7.He said he hated you because he thought you boss people around because you make very, very long posts.

8.I know you don't flame n00bs, but I do. It's fun, actually. Also, what about the time when Alucard was using my username and made that "Microsoft friends with Nintendo" thread, and you said something like "Sony wanted to be a moron and betray poor Nintendo", or something like that? Sounds Nintendo Fanboyish to me. You also said that it had "crappy games", and flamed Boshido Blade (which DID not suck. That game inspired the whole Soul Blade/Calibur series). Have an explenation for that?

9.However, I do apologise to you for that "Anti-Story" I made.
--------------------------------

As you can see, you are welcome over at TYFN. I hope you come back some day, and leave these fools.

WLM: Strikes and such are kept track of in the second post of this topic. Don't think you've "gotten away" with breaking the rules. >:P  I don't make a new post for every offense; there's really no point to, since it's just a list for me (and other mods/admins *COUGH*should*COUGH*) to keep track of, and not something to "announce" really to everyone else. If they want to see it, they can; I'm not hiding it or anything, but still, I don't think it's something worthy of "announcing" with a new post (besides, it would be harder to keep track of).

Now, if you don't mind, guys, I would appreciate if you wouldn't clutter this serious topic with useless garbage like "getting popcorn" and junk. Thanks.

Well, this thread has digressed to the point of no return. May as well digress with you all.

As for my $.02... White Castle should NEVER have changed their chicken sandwiches. EVER.

I like their Cheese Burgers!

We should start a new topic for all of these posts: "The Food Channel:Cooking with Mario!"

What in the Wario is going on here?

Ugh, Macaroni and Cheese, DISGUSTING.....

Plus, I hate lots of Italian foods (Pasta, meatballs, etc.)

I'm not gonna call Pizza Italian because whenever I do, people say it's American, and whenever I say it's American, people say it's Italian....

Seeing as my mother can't cook for the life of her (neither can anyone else in the family), I prefer fast food over anything made in the house....

I like Arby's alright. I was merely quoting the Simpsons.

I never had a Big Montana. I wanted to try one so I asked my mom to get me one. She thought that was just the name of the large size sandwich and got me that instead. I didn't know at first, so I thought they weren't that special.

Oh, and if your wondering why I was so mad is because Sapph busted me for cursing, but did she bust people who swear more than I do (*cough*Mr.Wiggles*cough*)? No, she didn't. Basically, I got steamed because she was not treating me fairly.

This post made me laugh. As does this.

What's an IP ban?

It means that you're the dead meat now, dog.

(It bans you from your profile and creating new ones. Case closed.)

Sure, IP banning would be a great idea, but it isn't very helpful in most cases.
Many trolls that get banned could be using dynamic IP addresses. Plus, there is the possiblilty that once the troll's IP address is released, a legitimate user could claim it and get barred from accessing or making posts-even though he did nothing wrong.

Example-A user named Troll1 is using a dynamic IP address (Troll1 also goes under names such as 'nutcase' 'listenbuddy' 'trollmaster', etc). That troll then gets banned based upon IP address.
Troll1's IP address then gets released.  Then, another user (example "Goodboy2") gets that IP address. "Goodboy2" tries to access this site. He gets a message saying that he's barred, even though he did nothing wrong.

There you have it folks.

I fail to see how "Goodboy2" gained somebody else's IP address-- and how likely this situation is.

No Suffix, ottermi619 knows what he is talking about.  However, that scenario isn't terribly likely given our current number of users.  In addition, what ottermi619 speaks of was more prevalent before broadband connections.  Now, computers tend to receive longer-lasting, or permanent IP addresses.

permanent IP addresses.
Those would be referred to as "static" IP addresses.

It's happened to me once, on some other forum. The actual site closed down, so I was forced to visit the forum, and it said I was banned for being 'blueeyes'.

It's happend to at least two that I know of that post onto a broadcasting site I also post to regularly, the Michigan Radio and TV Buzzboard, one including listenbuddy, the other is someone named "Keith"

-ottermi619-
After "Keith" (Butkovich) was banned for the first time (which was under his real name), he then registered at least 2 other names, both banned also
