Title: WTMK request thread - Nov. 04
Post by: Deezer on November 06, 2004, 11:42:38 AM
Ok, it's about that time for another WTMK playlist... especially since David finally got his HD up and running smoothly.

So post what you want (or don't want) to hear; the next playlist will go up in a week or two. I think we have pretty much everything except for PM:TTYD stuff.

PM:TTYD stuff!  Particularly the SMB remix versions.

PM has SMB remixes?  Man, I've got to play that soon!  If you don't have any of the following, Deezer, I sure would like to hear them!

* MK:DD- Waluigi Stadium and Luigi Circuit
* Super Mario Sunsine- Sticky Situations (battle with muddy piranha plant)
* Mario Party 2- Keepin' on the Path (Shock, Drop, or Roll) and This Way That (Fillet Relay)
* Mario Party 3- Panic! (Tick Tock Hop), Got It? (Curtain Call), and What to Do!?!? (All Fired Up)
* Mario Party 4- music in Dungeon Duos and Order Up!
* Mario Party 5- music in Later Skater! and Blown Away
* Dr. Mario- fever and chill

I don't have the right equipment to listen to WTMK on my computer right now (*cries*) but I can listen to it at my grandma's house whenever I get a chance.  Besides these are pretty good and I think most everyone will like them (if they aren't on the list).

On November 21st, Nintendo will unleash the greatest handheld system on America that this world has ever seen.  Two screens, two extra buttons, one touch-sensitive screen, wireless multiplayer, voice recognition, and more.  Prepare to severely wet yourself.

Doh, that topic should be "Nov '04" as in the year, not the day. >_<

As for PM:TTYD music, if I find some, it'll be on the playlist for sure.

Ha ha, the perfect and "never-erring" Deezer finally made a mistake!  Everybody point and laugh at him now in an immature way! *points and laughs at Deezer in an immature way all by himself... and then gets beat up by everyone including Mario*

Yay! This is exactly what I wanted! I don't know about songs in particular, but I was hoping for more music from games like, SMW, SMW2, SMRPG, SM64 and all the Mario Partys. Stuff like that. That would make me so happy! ^_^

By the way, eventually we'll have a separate, higher-quality stream. With the way they have it set up, the songs will have to be re-encoded with mp3PRO. I've been told an mp3PRO audio stream at 32kbps is comparable to FM radio. Even if you don't want to install it or get the Winamp plugin it should still sound better than the normal stream (16kbps).

So maybe I'll try to get all the requests on the higher-quality stream.

well, as for the music i'd like to hear -

- Super Mario Land 2
- Super Mario Sunshine
- Dr. Mario (SNES)
- Yoshi's Island (SNES)
- Super Mario World (SNES)
- Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
- Mario Kart: Double Dash !!
- Mario Paint
- Super Mario USA (NES)
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Mario RPG
- Super Mario 64 (SLIDE THEME, RAWR!!)

Also, please reduce the amount of wario played to a minimum, in my opinion it really doesnt count as mario anyways, and several songs from the newer wario games are just poorly redone songs from other mario games.  Also, most of the GSM songs or whatever, where songs are made from the sounds of games, are really very annoying, except the Tetris Type A or B (cant remember which) sounds really cool.  Thanks Deez.

Hey, while we're on the topic of music, has anyone seen this yet? (it might be old news)
There's going to be a VG music concert that tours around the world!  Be sure to vote for lots of Mario music!

When Trainman said sweetness x 10 1-ups I quickly made a WAV file of the 1-up sound going off 10 times but then I didn't know how to make a link to it here so now I'm stuck.  But who cares really?

Does WTMK have SSBM mario music?  And how about those official artist-made songs (whatever you call em)?.  My favorite song that I can remember (when I could go to my grandma's house and listen to them) was the one that went like "and I will get those (mario SFX) for what they done!"  The sound affects made it hilarious.

Now that I really think about it, there should be less original Game Boy music... Despite being Mario music, and sometimes having fairly catchy tunes, the sound of it irritates me. So, yeah, GameCube music, not so much GameBoy music.

EDIT: Unless, of course, it's really good GameBoy music.

You should keep that one Game Boy song... um.... "Game Boy <something> - Select File" it was called and it had some really awesome steel drum melodies! Forgot the name of it, though...

I have to disagree with Deezer suggestion to use the Kazaa Lite Virus Download Engine.  I realize that Deezer is perfect, but I am not.  Therefor, I got several viruses the first and only time I used Kazaa.  Good luck recovering your hard drive.

It is the Game Boy Gallery Music - Select song I like. The opening is cool too! Keep it!

WTMK Update

I'm busy reencoding piles of stuff right now... and I hate to admit it, but this MP3pro thing -does- seem to sound better at lower bitrates.

Anyway, the entire WTMK Library is being converted to the new, higher quality format.  I'll try to have at least a token playlist up by next week.

Highlights include:

* Mario Power Tennis
* Some obscure Japanese Super Mario Bros. albums
* Dr. Mario 64

There will be more, of course... I'll try to use your suggestions once I get more of the library converted.

I do. Wario is part of the Mario universe therefore his songs should be on WTMK. Just at a minimum. And now for more requests:

Music from Tetris Attack
Yoshi's Story OST
Music from Donkey Kong
Music from Wrecking Crew
(Probably a long shot but) Music from Duck Hunt since SMB and DH were both packaged together on the same cart at some point
Music from Mike Tyson's Punch Out since Mario is the referee
Music from Warios Woods
Music from SMUSA
Maybe some Christmas tracks for the Holiday Season (such as audio from christmas episodes of the Mario cartoon shows)

-Mario Kart: Double-Dash!!
-Super Mario RPG
-Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
-Super Mario 64
-Super Smash Bros. Melee
-Super Mario Bros. 3
-Dr. Mario

-Mario Kart 64

When I think of more, I'll be sure to add them.

So again, I'm good for music also if you need it, but I happen to be listening to WTMK right now, and I just heard a Wario World song play.  I've been looking for wario world music online for such an incredibly long time...if you can't for one reason or another tell me where you got it, could you at least give me a hint in the right direction?  It would be MUCH appreciated, as that is one of the better game soundtracks I've heard in quite a while.

I'd love to hear some old 8-bit and 16-bit classics:

SMB
SMB2
SMB3
SMW
Yoshi's Island

Plus some more Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door would be great!

Seems like most of the channel right now is either Wario Ware, Wario Land 's, or Big Band stuff...  which I all enjoy!  But it could use some added variety mixed in with what's there.
