I own it and it's fun, but it freezes up whenever I play it on my laptop (which has integrated graphics).

Actually, this problem alone has inspired me to build my own PC.  I've ordered the parts from NewEgg.com and I can't wait to assemble it.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2x512MB PC3200 CAS2 RAM
256 MB GeForce 6600 video card

If the game doesn't run on the new computer (and the new computer works otherwise), I'll be very mad, since the Sims2 readme specifically says that the games works with GeForce 6600 cards.

I don't own University or Nightlife.

Sims 2 should definitely work on that comp.

Go to this site:
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-sims-2/
Click on the button that says "Can My PC Run This Game?" You need to install a Java plug-in, but it won't fry your computer or anything like that, I've done it, beleive me. Wait for a few seconds, and it'll show ypu. An unchanged Windows XP Home Edition will run this game like a champ. :)

That analyzer said that my laptop will run TS2, but it is wrong.

I've tried a different system analyzer and that was more accurate.  Of seven games I've tried playing on my laptop, only TS2 fails, and the analyzer predicts that only TS2 will fail.

I retract my previous statements.  I just tried my prefered game analyzer again, and it too said that my laptop could run TS2.

???

I've tried everything to get the game to run on my laptop.  I've selected all of the lowest possible settings, I've updated my drivers, I've manually shut down background tasks, and I've even tried elevating my laptop and using an external fan to cool it.  Still the game regularly freezes up.  Maybe I just have a bad copy of TS2?

If it's freezing, that's probably not a graphical problem. It may be conflicting with something else on your laptop. Dunno what, though...

It might not be as fun, but in a few months the console versions will come out.

Naruto, Code:Lyoko, Zatch Bell, Bomberman, and Mario Pwns.

Does it install?  I ask because I had to tell Sapphira how to copy the discs to her laptops hard drive in order for it to run.

Yes, it installs, and I can play it.  I've actually lived with the freezes for a while now and I've played the game quite a bit, which is my basis for my earlier stated opinion that the game is fun.  The freeze-ups occur sporadically, probably once every hour on average.  They are quite annoying, because they are total freezes - I can't push control-alt-delete to end the program.  I have to turn off my computer.

I can't get the special cut-scenes on my laptop, though; I know that for a fact.  So, even if I could get TS2 to work on my laptop, there is still some reason to get a better PC to play it.
