Best: Cackletta
Worst: Waaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttt
Oh yes I did.
-
Best:
Bowser Princess Shroob. Yeah. What?
Worst: Wart.
I nominate 2D Game.
-
Best: Bowser
Worst: Too hard to decide.
-
Best: Wart. Who else has yet had the courage to try to take over everyone's dreams? (does Mario Party 5 count in this case?) Honorable mention to the Cackeltta/Fawful combo in Superstar Saga: Cackeltta for a cool plan, Fawful for just being Fawful.
Worst: Petey Pirahna. He is a giant baby that just pukes all over the place and he only got more annoying the more games he was in (though I did like his desgin in Brawl..) Horrible mention to Bowser Jr. When do we get to see the real Koopalings again?
Nominee: 2D game
-
When do we get to see the real Koopalings again?
Whenever you play SMB3, SMW or any other game with them again.
-
Best: Fawful. He's just Fawful. And no, that was not a pun.
Worst: Petey Piranha. Seriously, he was a lame boss in Sunshine, and apparently everyone at Nintendo loved him because he;s been in nearly every game since.
-
Best: Shadow Queen was pretty neat.
Worst: Bowser Jr.'s definitely irritating, but I'd probably have to say Princess Shroob.
-
Best: Count Bleck. The only villain whose motive wasn't lust for power.
Worst: Wart. The least developed (main) villain of any Mario game.
-
Best: Although Bowser is the classic recurring villain in the entire franchise, I have to go with Fawful. He has the most memorable and funny lines.
Worst: I can't decide right at the moment.
-
Way to go, Kojinka! You're on your way to total realization that old and awesome are not the same thing.
-
Best: Bowser because he's hilarious in PM:TTYD
Worst: Petey Piranha, because he's epically lame.
-
Best: Fawful. Badly needs to return in M&L 3.
Worst: Petey Piranha, overused and pointless from the beginning.
-
This one should be obvious from me...BLECK! X3
Best: Count Bleck - A much more interesting and curious villain than many of the other one-shot villains, who's tragic past is his motivation for villainry...and scoring at the same time! :D
Worst: WAAAAART - Seriously, a giant Toad?...>>;;; { I love Mario 2, just so you know. }
-
Those who know me a bit can probably guess my answer beforehand...
Best: Count Bleck. I'll avoid mentioning the secret backstory, for those who haven't beaten Super Paper Mario, but it's the reason he's so unique and awesome as a villain. His mannerisms and personality are great too - "What!? spat Count Bleck in utter disbelief." XD
Worst: I'm tempted to go with Bowser, just because of his extreme overusage, but he's been developed as a character, and sometimes he's good for comic relief or actual awesome villainry. I'd have to go with...Wart. There's nothing that makes him stand out at all. An evil toad who shoots bubbles trying to take over a dream world...yeah, real creative and original. Of course, he was just ported from Doki Doki Panic...
-
Best: X-Naut Army. they are just the ones that I enjoyed more than the others. Honorable mentions are count Bleck and Dimentio.
Worst: Bowser Jr, just very annoying.
I also vote for the Nintendo system one.
-
Way to go, Kojinka! You're on your way to total realization that old and awesome are not the same thing.
You mean I'm not the most awesome person here?
Best: Fawful or Shadow Queen
Worst: Bowser Jr.
-
Best: Bowser. He's both menacing and funny. It's very hard to do a comic relief villain without sacrificing most of the character's gravity. Maybe it's possible with Bowser because he's very heavy. Also, check the username; turtle-like characters FTW.
Worst: Ummm... Petey Piranha, because he disgusts me (Gooper Blooper is a close second-worst).
-
Best: Shadow Queen
Worst: Wart
I vote for best 2-d game.
-
Week 31: Villian(s)
BEST:
Bowser (5)
Fawful (3.50)
Count Bleck (3)
Shadow Queen (2.50)
Cackletta (1)
Princess Shroob (1)
Wart (1)
X-Nauts (1)
WORST:
Petey Pirahna (4)
Wart (4)
Bowser Jr. (1)
Princess Shroob (1)
Tiebreaker needed for Petey Pirahna and Wart.
NOMINATIONS:
Mario Sports game (6)
2D Game (11)
3D Game (1)
Nintendo System {Which system had the best/worst games?} (2)
2D Game Next Week.
-
Petey's worse. Wart needs a comeback!
-
Wart's worse. Being in a few spin-offs shouldn't qualify a villain to be bad. At least Petey had several other traits compared to Wart's one dimensional hate of vegetables.
-
Petey has traits? He's a giant, bipedal Pirahna Plant in a polka-dot bikini bottom. His spinoff status is hardly a problem, really.
-
I vote Wart worse because Petey Piranha at least tries to get you back and shows some character traits, such as stupidity, when he yells very loud at the top of the windmill in Bianco Hills, and he just realizes that his huge body can break the roof of the windmill, even though he has been on it before Mario came. Wart doesn't show any character traits.
-
Ya! Wart has basically no character at all!
-
Every time someone says Wart or Stanley the Bugman need to make a comeback, a baby dies.
Remember, kids. Just because a character is "neglected" and "obscure" doesn't mean it's a good idea for them to come back.
EDIT: Also, remember what happened the last time a character was "resurrected" like that?

Maybe he'd develop some if he was in more then two games.
-
You're all a bunch of frog-haters. >:(
-
No, I'm a "Resurrect a character and doom them to a life of sports, kart, and party games with a two-dimensional personality" hater.
Honestly, I believe what's happening is you're disappointed with the current state of characters, so you look at characters such as Wart, Stanley, the Koopalings, and Geno through rose-tinted glasses, thinking that if they made a come back, all would be well, and Shadow Brian would start liking Nintendo games again.
-
Hey man, Geno actually is cool.

Uh...Captain Syrup came back, and nothing bad really happened? Although, I do agree, they had no soul, they shant come back!
-
Stanley was made to take the bullet instead of Mario if Donkey Kong 3 sucked. And it did, so he took the bullet. We're all thankful he's dead and not Mario.
-
Seeing him in Smash Bros. as an Assist is more likely than anything else these days, though it would be funny to see him make a background cameo in a future Mario game or something.
EDIT: Wait, I thought the reason DK3 tanked was because Mario wasn't in it! What gives?
-
No, DK3 tanked because it sucked. Stanley's sole purpose was to keep Mario from being ruined if the game sucked.
-
Oddly, I don't find DK3 all that bad.
-
Wasn't it a clone of some game?
-
Not that I know of. For the record, I liked it too. Saying the game tanked because you don't like it (this means you, Jim) is ridiculous.
-
Well, it was wildly unsuccessful, in the words of Deezer.
-
And I once heard that one of the reasons for it's failure was because Mario wasn't in it.
-
So what you're saying is, Stanley the Bugman makes games suck.
-
But his trophy is in Melee.
-
Yeah? And? It's not in Brawl, now is it?
-
Wart doesn't have a trophy in either game.
-
A) Melee didn't suck before Brawl was released.
B) It's not Stanley's presence, it's the lack of Mario's presence. This is why people tend to hate on Wario's Woods and Mario is Missing.
-
People hate on Wario's Woods? And are you saying Mario is Missing! is actually any good? I mean, you've gotta be kidding me if you think most people don't like Luigi's Mansion either.
-
The Chef, you're putting WAAAAY too much faith in Mario. It's widely accepted that DK3 tanked because it was bad, not being able to live up to its predecessors. Not because Mario was replaced by Stanley the Bugman, who was made just to save Mario's rep if DK3 tanked. Which it did.
-
Gentlemen, I wasn't being serious with that last one. Gimme a break.
-
So you're saying you fueled our side of the discussion on purpose?
-
Wart doesn't have a trophy in either game.
Wait... I could've sworn there was one in Melee, at least.
Technically, Mario was in Luigi's Mansion...
-
Nope, no Wart Trophy.
I thought DK3 was a fun game, if not, a little perverted...:P
-
Mario was in Mario is Missing, too. Come on.
-
I don't think many people would want to play to the end, though.
-
He's in the intro.
-
Wario's Woods was cool (and Toad's the star). Mario is Missing sucked because it wasn't fun, not because it didn't have Mario (just try saying the game would be enjoyable if you were Mario rescuing Luigi). I thought DKC3 did poorly because Super Mario 64 just came out or was coming out soon, and yeah, that definitely would have distracted from the game. I didn't like DKC3 as much as the previous games, just wasn't as memorable, but I think the game was still good. If nothing else, it still had amazing music. I played through Mario is Missing... it was the first game I ever beat... I know, that's sad.
-
I agree that Wario's Wood rocked and that Mario is Missing sucked, but regardless of how true what you were saying in the rest of your post is (I never really played DKC2 or 3, since I only owned the first), I think you have Donkey Kong Country 3 confused with Donkey Kong 3 (which pretty much did suck).
-
Now, when discussing Wario's Woods, is it assumed one is referring to the SNES or NES version? (one of the rare instances where Nintendo put a game on two different generations of consoles at roughly the same time, if I'm correct. Then there was that Wario Blast game with Bomberman on the GB, but that was something else entirely...) Because I've played only the NES version and... it's pretty fun, I guess. It's been a while though, so I'm not one to judge.
-
Wario's Woods definitely is awesome, but part of me wondered if it went overlooked because there's no sign of Mario in it.
I can't be the only man in the world who doesn't think DK3 sucks entirely, though.
-
Generally, I actually pay more attention to a game if Wario's in it, owing to the usual quirkiness of his games and how few of them there are.
-

Wario's Woods should be remade for the DS, with Wario Ware characters replacing those from Wario's Woods. Also, all remakes should follow the same guidelines as the recent Kirby Superstar Ultra. That was an awesome remake.
DK3.. Are we talking Donkey Kong 3 (with Stanley) or Donkey Kong Country 3 (with.. baby Kong. What's his name)?
-
Kiddy.
-
I've played both versions of Wario's Woods, and both are great, but I do like the SNES version more.
NES has the unique boss fights, but the SNES has the large variety of backgrounds and themes, the VS COM mode (I've beaten both it and its Super Hard mode), and much better music (in terms of the melodies, not quality) and sound.
-
The SNES version also gives the player the ability to lift diamonds and has dedicated kick buttons (though it's understandable that they weren't in the NES version).
-
I've always wondered whatever happened to the Wario's Woods bosses. I once had an idea for another game starring Toad that featured them, and it was an SMB2-esque platformer.
