Mario Chat / Re: Mario game guides: Deals or no deals?

Well, the folks at Nintendo Power can't edit to save their lives, so no surprises there... what was the item, anyway?

The orange paint can you see at Tom Nook's store. You can't actually GET IT, but there's some picture in the guide which shows it on the ground a room in a house. They also hinted at a non-existent picture for Sable and/or Able.

Apparently some guy lured me into his car, then tortured and murdered me. :/

When I first read the title, I thought this thread was about someone re-creating the play in that SMW world cartoon episode when Mario plays football with Yoshi. But don't ask me, I don't even watch/play football.

I remember some of my Mario game guides...

I got the MK:DD prima game guide...wow, so many mistakes it's not even funny. Prima used to be notoursly bad at making guides, but they've gotten better. Though not a Mario guide, everyone knows the famous Official NOA AC:WW guide. Over like, 70 mistakes or something that Nintendo made, including a picture that includes an item you'd normally need AR to get.

Wow, I actually didn't expect them to stick with that idea. I really don't understand why they don't want Yoshi to swim in Super Mario Galaxy 2. I mean, Yoshi swims in every Mario Party. In Super Mario Sunshine, it stated that Delfino Yoshis were afraid of the water, so that's an explanation to why you can't go into the water with them. Why can't he swim in Super Mario Galaxy 2? That only limits the puzzles and challenges that can be put in the game. Let's just hope that you can do the same Yoshi tricks that you can do in Sunshine.

To make it even more mysterious, for those who don't know, the sprite data for the never used Yoshi feature in SM64, was found in Wet-Dry Land.

I'm 90% that some, if not all of the character models in MKW (excluding obvious new characters) are from MK:DD. It's kind of dissapointing.

Also, I think all they did was add a few more polygons to characters to smooth them out from where they'd typically be viewed, then turned down the saturation some (MK:DD is 50 times as brightly colored as MKWii), then added a Mario Galaxy-esque glow to everyone to show light reflecting off them.

Mario Kart could've looked similar to Brawl or Galaxy if they wanted to put more effort into it. Yeah, I know there's time constraints, it's hard to redo everything to suit the Wii, etc., but still, they could've put some more time into it. Mario Kart's always shown a Nintendo system at its near best. MKWii looks too similar to Double Dash, [darn] near. That's like if Double Dash looked similar to MK64, or if MK64 looked like SMK.

I agree. I give the devolopers of MK:DD props for making new models (I think) for that game. I know it's a pain in @$$ to make new models, but jeez at least update the textures or add a few polygons where needed.

Uh, yes, they do use the same model in various GCN games. It's called saving time and money not trying to replicate the same thing 15 times.

Sorry but I forgot to mention that they still use OLD GCN-era models for Wii spin-offs.

that video is at once horribly frightening and unbearably funny.

Agreed.

I think his SMG model is him at his best. I hate to say this, but to me it seems like spin-off Mario games uses a recycled Mario from the GCN era. Seriously, I haven't noticed a difference since even Mario Party 4. He looks the same the entire time. SMG kills that and introduces Mario as he REALLY is. The only thing that slightly bothers me is the voice, but...I got used to it.

SM64 is the second best. It's kind of hard not to laugh at the blocky, yet (for that time) innovative 3D Mario's fluid (IMO) movements and laughably low-polly peace sign.

I had someone I found on t3h internet to do the dirty work for me and get Darkrai, Arceus and Shaymin before Darkrai was released. -shot-. Well, I'm starting to lose interest in the game slightly, considering I already completed my Pokedex (as in, see AND catch all 493, without the magical AR) and I'm getting somewhat close on Platinum. Though I will get HG/SS, I dunno if I really want to complete the pokedex again.

Change what they will, keep what they will... all I ask is that there be a different number of stars than 120! How the heck did that become the magic number, anyway?

Gee when are Goombas the basic Mario enemy.

Man, popsicle, mexico, off I go, what are you people hearing hahaha.

I figure some people are gonna start saying they have trouble understanding Mario in MK64 menus in a few posts or so.

"Welcome to Mario Kart" is gonna become, "Hell com, to Maddio Cot."
"Select a level!" is gonna become "Select a hell pool."
"Okay?" is gonna turn into "Oh, gay?" or to further the more "Mexican" aspect of Mario, it'll be "Oh, que?"
"Mario Grand Prix" is gonna turn into "Maddio Grandma Pee."

I know those don't sound all that great, but Jesus, from what you guys have said you've been hearing, what I said above wouldn't surprise me anymore.

Actual ROFL moment. THANK YU

Anyway, this is based on my memory, but I believe when Toad gets hit in MK:SC it sounds like he's saying "Meatloaf!". No, I'm not even trying to make a joke...

...Isn't this coming from the same guy who hatched a shiny Larvitar, and an Adamant-natured one at that? Discounting that mandatory Red Gyarydos, I haven't seen, let alone caught, a shiny Pokemon since one Goldeen in Crystal... but now is not the time for angst.

Oh yeah? Aside from Gyrados, I've never seen any in the wild. I own every single main game, and caught all 493 in in Pearl. >_>

Aside from that, one of my friends came back from Israel. ^_^
