Mario Chat / How do you pronounce Mario?

Do you use the short A as in "cat", or do you use the "ar" sound as in "father"? Or other?

I say Mario using the "cat" vowel, it's quicker and it's the way everyone else I remember from school pronounces it. The cartoons always surprised me with their "father" pronunciation of it.

I'm talking about the normal English release date for Super Mario Sunshine. The 4th of October? That's ridiculous. Why do the Americans get it so long before us? And for the record, the English release date isn't a "foreign" release date.

Can any big companies such as the magazine companies, TMK, Gamespot etc. stick up for us and get games released simultaneously, as they should be?

In the cartoons he always sounded so... indecisive and scared of things. He sounds much more headstrong in SMA2, which is out of character.

I sent them an e-mail asking why they changed the name of the princess, when all the fans on GameFAQs etc. preferred Toadstool, and they said "As far as we know, they are different people, there have been many different damsels in distress in the past" etc. I also asked them why England was always left till last, and they said "Ask your local distributor". Even though I said Nintendo of UK's website was down.

Never mind eh?

I notice that on one of the recent mailbags, there are a couple of screens with the info on a couple of characters in SSB:M. Can someone post either a shot or a transcript of the text for Princess Toadstool please?

(That's *ugh* Peach *ugh* for you newcomers)

I just wanted to check if they remember her surname. I sent an e-mail to Nintendo moaning about the name change, anyway, as most of the old-skoolers HATE the name change, proved on GameFAQs.

Mario Chat / The name of the Princess: Peach or Toadstool

We've been getting into some debates over this, but I'm glad more people agree it should stay as Toadstool. I'm in England and I don't care what they call her in Japan. It doesn't matter to me because they speak a different language.

Mario Chat / More proof that it's Princess Toadstool

I downloaded one of the Mario cartoons the other day, "Princess Toadstool for President". They call her Princess Toadstool all the time in that, so that is her name. Officially. Cos I say so, and cos I don't like this new-fangled Peach and Daisy crap. Also, Luigi says "Bowser Koopa" in that episode too!

Anyone remember the SMB adventure books, where you had to make choices and turn to different pages, which would get you items, and your choices would decide whether you won or not? I think I've still got one somewhere.

How is it possible to chuck out the shell? If you eat a Shell Shocker, you get all abilities, fire, stomp and flying. So it would ALWAYS come out as fire. No?

I'd like to try this but I can't see how it could work.

I don't understand - surely it is commercial suicide, making us wait until March. Fony's horrible Gimpstation 2 will have won, and mopped up all the blood too by this stage.

Anyone know the official line on why we are being made to wait?
