No, never mind - anyway, on the GBA English Super Mario Advance 4, the Princess's letter after World 3 reads as follows:

Greetings,

You can stomp on your enemies using Goomba's shoe.

I have enclosed a jewel that helps protect you.

Princess Toadstool

Yeah, I always thought it was called Kuribo's Shoe, but obviously not.

Cheers,

Matt

It is Kuribo's Shoe. "Kuribo" is Japanese for "Goomba." They didn't catch it when they were translating the game's languages from Japanese to English.

What I don't understand is why Kuribo's shoe is GREEN when the World 4 Giant Goomba's shoe is RED and the small, regular Goombas have NO shoes. Can someone explain that for me, please?

Stupid inventions- Ejector seat for helicopters.
Formerly quite reasonable.

avengah, go look here.

...Weird... are they using the 2nd version of SMB3, when they used the 1st version in SMAS?

Trainman: Correction: Kuribo's Shoes are shoes Goombas ride around in. Also, if I am seeing correctly, Goombas wear little brown loafers, like Yoshi and Mario.

That was a joke.

Interesting...the NES version said "Goomba's shoe," but the Super Mario All-Stars version said "Kuribo's Shoe."  Wonder why they changed it back?

Ahem: They used the first USA version of SMB3 in SMAS, as I just stated.
That was a joke.

Actually I think the change may have been deliberate.  Several other text changes have been made in SMA4...at the end of the level, instead of "Course Clear, You Got A Card," it says "Level Cleared, You Got A Panel," and the kings now say "Splendid, splendid" instead of "Oh thank heavens."  Also, Jugem's Cloud is referred to as Lakitu's Cloud on the SMA4 website.
