General Chat / Plans for Halloween
« on: September 05, 2003, 04:13:10 PM »
Just wondering... Am I the only one here who still goes Trick-or-Treat-ing? Because I'm gonna need ideas for a costume. Preferably one that's easy to make and Video Game themed. And not Mario (I've already been him). Just wondering.

Game Help / I Need Help With the Super Scope!!!
« on: August 17, 2003, 11:41:08 AM »
I would post this in Game Help, but nobody goes there. Anyway, I bought a used Super Scope for $5 at FuncoLand about a month ago. I was going to buy Yoshi's Safari too, but they didn't have it. Then, last night, I bought Yoshi's Safari at Hollywood Video for $5. So, I turned on Yoshi's Safari, put bateries in the Super Scope and... nothing happened. I tried everything- pressing all of the buttons on the Scope, flipping all of the switches, putting batteries in upside-down, and nothing worked. So does anybody know what I could be doing wrong, or is it broken?

Mario Chat / Mario as California Governor?
« on: August 14, 2003, 12:36:07 PM »
Apparently, Nintendo is using this whole California Governor election mess as a way to advertise Mario Party 5. Be sure to read the bolded words. Here it is:

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2003-- Video game pioneer Mario disappointed voters across the state of California today, confirming he will not be a candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial recall election.

Instead, he disclosed plans to focus on furthering the development of the Mario Party, a well-established, alternative grassroots movement for people who want to see real action from their candidates.

"The California recall election is too much of a circus, even for me, and I live in a world filled with Koopa Troopas and man-eating plants. Multi-player is good -- but this election is over the top," says Mario. "I definitely would have been the most animated candidate but, even in times of deep budget deficits, saving princesses has to take priority."

Beginning Nov. 11, Mario will launch the next stage in the evolution of the Mario Party. His first act will be restoring peace to Dream World, just one plank in a long list of guarantees in the Mario Party 5 platform. Running exclusively on the Nintendo GameCube(TM) ticket, Mario and trusted cabinet members Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, Luigi, Toad and others will take his message to the streets, campaigning non-stop across all-new game boards and through more than 60 free new mini-games.

However, Mario remains guarded about rumors of a Presidential bid in 2004.

"I've spent my life collecting coins, leaping over obstacles and fighting bosses, so obviously I have the necessary experience," says Mario. "But as all game players know, everything else must be put on hold until the limitless fun of Mario Party 5 is explored. Once that's done, I will make a decision."

Since breaking onto the scene in the classic 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong®, Mario has successfully jumped between console, arcade and hand-held systems, starring in games that have sold more than 165 million copies.

Like one of the better-known gubernatorial candidates, Mario is also a media celebrity and was born overseas.[The Big Boo's note: Eh! Look at that! Born overseas! This should clear up some of those rumors about Mario being born not overseas!] If he had continued with the race, Mario would have been one of the youngest gubernatorial candidates in California history. Because he dropped out of the election, Mario will not be disclosing his income or financial holdings, revealing only that he has enough money to buy all the Koopa shells he needs. Koopa shell options immediately jumped in after-hours market trading.

Uh... That's it.

General Chat / What's your favorite movie?
« on: July 26, 2003, 04:11:32 PM »
I don't know why I'm posting this. I'm bored, I guess. Anyway, what's YOUR favorite movie? I guess mine would have to be Goldmember, Scary Movie, and UHF.

Video Game Chat / Mario Advance 4, Starfox Adventures 2, and more!
« on: May 13, 2003, 12:27:31 PM »
I just went on Nintendonow.com, and according to some Japanese gaming magazine, Nintendo is making:
- Super Mario Advance 4: SMB3
- Starfox Adventures 2 (not to be confused with Namco's Starfox game)
- Mario and Luigi RPG
- Custom Robo GC
- Mario Party 5
and uh... I think that's it. Anyway, you should check it out, but the screenshots are small. Find out more at E3!

Mario Chat / Wario World (Have a Rotten Day!)
« on: February 14, 2003, 10:09:06 PM »
Did anybody get that Zelda Preorder disc with Ocarina of Time/Master Quest and all those movies on it? I did, and it has a preview of Wario World on it. Gadd, that looks cool! Although, it seems that there's more of an emphasis of throwing bad guys instead of ramming into them, like in previous games. But still, it looks cool. I think I'm glad that they waited until May to release Wario World, because it really looks better than it did before. Also, that "coin inhale" move looks pretty cool.

Mario Chat / Hidden Mansion Europe
« on: January 20, 2003, 04:39:12 PM »
This is for all of you in Europe... In Luigi's Mansion, after you beat the regular mansion, you get the hidden mansion. In the American version, there is nothing special in this mansion, except that the ghosts are a bit harder to catch. But I heard that there was something else in the hidden mansion in the Europe version. What is it?

Just wondering... Has anyone here been Mario for Halloween? Any other Mario character? Any funny or interesting stories about being a Mario character?

Mario Chat / THE SHINES ARE MINE! MWA HA HA HA!
« on: September 13, 2002, 03:48:37 PM »
Now that I have seen the ending, I will provide an account of my tale. I got the last blue coin by spraying the sign in Pianta Village. Then, I headed over to Corona Mountain and fought Bowser. Then there was the ending. It was the same usual ending. "Where are the secrets?" I thought. Then, instead of that picture of II Piantissimo at the end, it showed pictures of everyone standing in the casino of Hotel Delfino. Then... it ended. Nothing else. Everything is exactly the same. No secrets, no extra levels, nothing. I didn't find anything. Boy, this makes me mad!

Mario Chat / Egad! E. Gadd's in Sunshine!
« on: September 04, 2002, 09:29:31 AM »
Okay, I've found professor E. Gadd in Super Mario Sunshine. You know that old guy in Noki Bay? Well, he's Gadd in disguise. Notice how he has the glasses, a hat to cover up his hair, and he seems to know you, even though you've never met him. Although, it seems as though he doesn't want you to know who he is, so he told people not to tell Mario. That's why in Story one in Noki Bay, The Noki up at the top calls him his teacher, then, realizing he made a mistake, calls him Grandpa. One more thing: he is the only Noki (other than the pipe-playing one in Pinna Park) that doesn't curl up into his shell when you spray him.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo Stuff
« on: August 05, 2002, 08:48:15 PM »
Does anybody know where to get Nintendo stuff? I know you can get stuff from Nintendo's Super Power Supplies catalog, and you get some stuff from ordering a subscription to Nintendo Power, but are there any other places to get stuff?
