I saw someone mention that they went to MFGG and so I checked out the forums there and what should I discover but someone named Techokami had imported the Il Piantissimo model and removed the mask and there is actually a face under there. Prepare yourself.

It's the running man from Ocarina of Time! It all makes sense now...
-
Whoa, I need to check that place out more often, Techokami really is genius!
-
I don't own Ocarina of Time, so is his voice the same in OoT as it is in SMS?
-
OMG! Sweet! Aren't cameos great?
-
Wow! Never saw that one coming. How brilliant, though.
-
When I was a young child, I always despised that man.
-
Oh, hey! It IS the running man from OoT!! No, Aarom, he has no voice in OoT. Sneaky Nintendo... XP
-
Whoa, what a find! Not at all like I'd expect him to look like.
-
Oh, wow, how about that? Heh.
-
...and so ends the "Luigi is Il Piantissimo" theories.
-
Who theorized that? I thought Il Piantissimo was shorter than Mario!!
-
Yoawsah!! It can't be true!! That's so freakin' unexpected, and so darn wicked!!
Must... boast... about it... elsewhere!!
-

I've seen a bunch of people all over the net who were convinced Luigi was Il Piantissimo. Though it seems kinda ridiculous for Luigi to get a tan and don a mask just to outrun Mario.
-
II Piantissimo needs to die! Along with every other Pianta. Why would anyone want to be a pianta? That guy has problems.
-
EXCEPT Don Pianta and the other piantas in PMTTYD. They were totally cool by me.
-
That's such a cartoony look.
-
No way, Piantas are the men. Especially the chucksters! "I'm a chuckster!"
-
One time on the game, I got real close to II Piantissimo and looked directly upward or something, and I could see his face, but I couldn't recognize it.
Still Cool though!

Dude, Il. Captial I, lowercase L. IL. Il. Not two.
-
Has Nintendo confirmed this yet?
-
I doubt anyone besides the design team knows about it.
-
What does Il mean, anyway?
-
"The" in Italian. Similar to "El" in Spanish.
-
And "Le" in French. (Pronounced "luh", not "lay". The "lay" pronunciation is used for "les".)
-
Is Piantissimo a regular name or does it mean something?
-
The closest thing to "Piantissimo" is "Pianissimo," which makes no sense. It means "in a soft or quiet tone."
-
Pianta means "plant" and -issimo means something like "very" or "more" or "super," I think. I'm not sure, though. "The Super Pianta" would make sense.
-
More of a Mariology obsrvartion, but if Isle Delfino actually existed, it'd probably be located near Italy.
-
The think the world might have noticed it though.
-
As a musician, I should've noticed the 'issimo' thing! *slaps forehead*
So what about Nokis. Does Noki mean shell or something like that?
As far as I know,
Pianta=Plant
Delfino=Dolphin

Interesting translations (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=4182.msg306353#msg306353)
-
Corona is actually an english term, too. I can't remember exactly what it means, though. Something like 'red circle'.
-
I believe Nokis are another variation of "Noko noko", shelled characters. Koopas.
-
Also, notice the archetecture in Dolphino Square. The buildings, colors, and shapes really seem like italy, and with the canal in the middle close to noki Bay's starting point, Venice.

Has anybody been to the Portofino Bay hotel? It looks like just Delfino Plaza in Super Mario Sunshine. Note that in SMS, the music in the Plaza is kind of Italian. Also, isn't bianco an ingrediant for making certian foods?
-
The boats look Italien but the music is more french.
-
I cannot believe you guys. I'm sorry, this is just amazing.
"bianco" means "white"
"corona" in Corona Mountain probably means that it's the highest point on the island, because the word "corona" is where we get our word "crown"
As for Il Piantissimo, Sapph is at least in the ballpark. It's something probably like "the real Pianta-ish guy" because -issimo is simply an intensifier of what would logically be "pianto," but isn't.
Also, Vid is right about Nokis.
Isle Delfino is based on Italy, and that should be obvious if not from anything but the insane amount of Italian words everywhere.
-
Well, nobody will know until they have full proof of what these words actually mean. And there are a lot of different meanings for some of the words, so you don't have to argue with a %100 believed opinion when you don't have evidence or support of any kind. In a way you're doing what Yoshi55 did-- 'Forcing your opinions without any backup references'.
If I sounded insulting, I apologize. I just don't like it when people state an opinion with an unneeded remark. It just makes everybody else feel stupid.
-
Empirical evidence is not an opinion.
-
I know of a fair few video games that are based on real places in the world. Pokemon XD is set in an Arizona clone, for example.
-
What a great cameo! :)
- Fuzmeister
-
i'd know that face anywhere but he's much shorter in sms werid

Way, to revive a topic that was last posted in a month ago, Mr. Mad.
-
It's okay, it's okay. What's a month, anyway?
-
*insert witty reply to LD's post here*
Anyway, Mr.Mad does have a point. The height difference is quite strange.
-
Way, to revive a topic that was last posted in a month ago, Mr. Mad.
way to be a jerk kojinka
-
You should thank her.
Now I know why they called you Mr. Mad
-
My goodness PaperLuigi and Bird Man! You should be ashamed! It is not okay to be racist, even if you are talking about fictional characters!
-
Racist against triangle-shaped, mulit-colored people with trees on their heads?
-
Oh, and 'Bird Man' made me lol.
-
lol. I didn't even catch that.
-
Muhahaha. Maybe I'm not that big a fan of SMS, is all. The Piantas were fine by me in PMTTYD but in SMS they were just stupid. Come on, isn't it a little strange that Mario defaced the island before he got there with his eyes aglow and his body color... aswirl? A little strange? They're much better off as town-controlling gangstas.
-
Now the Blue Toad is also hating the Piantas by making fun of their appearance. And by the way I don't think any of the Piantas saw Shadow Mario up close, just his silouette, or shadow, hence the name.
-
Yeah, but they saw a BLACK blob, not a RED and BLUE blob. The Piantas in SMS had to be either colorblind or idiots to not know the difference between Mario and Shadow Mario.
-
Now the Blue Toad is also hating the Piantas by making fun of his appearance.
No I'm not. Triangles are awesome! XD
-
The Piantas must have thought that Mario was wearing a disguise with him being all swirlly and weird-just like robbers wear disguises so nobody will know who they really are.
-
You mean you didnt know
-
Pointless.
-
You bumped this thread just to say that, megamush?
-
Obviously. Did he not notice the "do not post in this thread, it's 120+ days old?"
-
And as if he knew without being told. Hah. I may need a stretcher here, I think I'll die laughing.
-
As if the warning weren't enough, it helps that fuzzy is banned. He can't even read this.
-
That last sentence is incorrect.
-
He might be banned, but he can still read these.
-
I'm sure he checks every day for responses to his posts.
-
He could be lurking nearby.........spooky!
-
That last sentence is incorrect.
I thought his IP address was banned. I guess it isn't.
-
Banning IPs has nothing to do with banning how much of the board you can see.
-
Can't say I've played OoT (or any other Zelda except for a little bit of LttP), but that's a neat find.

So, Marios faster than Link? It is impossible to beat the running man in OOT. Yet in this game you can beat him with Mario. Hmmm...
-
The Marathon Man ate too much Isle Delfino seafood before the races. :D
-
Of course Mario's faster than Link; you try running with a big heavy shield, a big sword crafted by a giant Goron, a legendary sword, some 50 bombs, a quiver packed with arrows, a bow to go with it, a Hookshot, a pair of Iron Boots somewhere in your inventory, a pair of magical hovering boots somewhere as well, a few bottles, maybe some bombs that move on their own...
While Mario's got the clothes on his back and the water machine on his back. Which can help him move faster.
-
Mario has been proven faster than Link in Smash Bros.
-
Equip the Turbo nozzle in one of the races, and Mario will beat Il Piantissimo so badly that it's not even fair!
-
There's also a glitch that involves diving and flipping up on a sloped surface that enables Mario to run super-fast...
-
Yeah, that works extremely well in Pianta Village.
-
I love this kind of cameos. I wish that Piantissimo appeared in Galaxy and that he used the Magic Brush to do stuff. Besides, I used to think that the Il actually meant "the second", I failed to realize it was a capital i until now.
-
This thread is hilarious.
