This is kind of a stupid idea, but have you ever noticed someone that kinda looks like Mario in real life? This is a topic where you compare the physical appearance of a video character to that of a celeb or someone you know. It can be any character, and you can even post pictures if you want.
-
Well, these are the first people that come to mind; I'll post more when I find 'em.
Mario

Luigi (kind of)

Well, we already got Stalin. How long until somebody posts Ron Jeremy?
-
As soon as a clean pic of him in a Mario suit (I'm sure at least one exists) is found...
-
Apparently Mario Segali looks a lot like Mario.
-
You guys can post pics of other game characters too. Mabey this is in the wrong sub-forum.....
-
THERE! Clear photographic proof that Ron Jeremy is....
Wait...did you say a CLEAN pic?

Kirsten Dunst (with blond hair) resembles Peach, in my opinion.
-
I knew I would leave this guy out!
Presenting... Daluigi!

Wow, I happened to see this pic yesterday!
I should make it my sig!

Mario on PSP. Hmmmmmmm, interesting.
-
Actually, my friend downloaded the first Super Mario Bros. on his PSP. Really strange, but cool I guess.
-
My work here is done.

AGH, MOTHERLAND! *ahem* I mean, Mama Mia!
-
YOUR work? That's from Uncyclopedia.
-
Well, this one happens to be home-grown right here in the Fungi Forums:

I believe in recycling, so sorry if you saw it the first time.
-
If you give Luigi a suit and a fedora, he'd look kinda like Scatman John.
-
Who the dukar is Scatman John?
-
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Fthumb%2Fa%2Fa9%2FMedia_55.GIF%2F200px-Media_55.GIF&hash=078edfdcd7206ba90fae1ff86ca9caea)
John Paul Larkin, (March 13, 1942 — December 3, 1999), better known as Scatman John, was a famous stuttering jazz musician who perfected a unique fusion of scat singing and disco, best known for his 1994 hit "Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)".
-
I'm planning on drawing a Scatman Luigi
-

Are you sure that isn't a young Saddam Hussain?
-
Not totally.
-
Oh man! I really like the Scatman's World track! I got an MP3 for it too!
Yeah... I too was gonna mention that Scatman John could've made a good Mario in real life... or Luigi...
I also wonder who would concur to the fact that Hollywood actor Danny DeVito would be it too, if he gets some hair and a big moustache?
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kinoweb.de%2Ffilm99%2FLivingOutLoud%2Fpix%2Fliv3.jpg&hash=1bfafb42f92b11406435727f62a16e81)
-
Bob Hoskins didn't have hair and they thought he looked the part.
-
Danny was considered for the part, although I did get this info from Wikipedia (which is, by no means, a Mario info site.)
-
Anything like that found on Wikipedia should be taken with a pinch of salt.
-
Most Mario information on Wikipedia is wrong. Seriously.
-
I found a Wiki site devoted to the Mario series.
-
It's also pretty wrong.
-
Oh dear! Who on Earth shall we trust for Mario information in this most dire hour?
-
I found a better site (http://themushroomkingdom.net/) devoted to the Mario series.
-
We're SAVED! Hoooo-ray for MaxVance, providing near endless Mario information in our time of need!
-
I found a better site (http://themushroomkingdom.net/) devoted to the Mario series.
Gee, I never would have thought that site would be good for anything.
-
There's a guy who subbed for my P.E. class once, and he had red and blue clothes and a mustache.
People kept singing the Mario theme...
-
Anyone notice that the Shadow Sirens look alot like those 3 witches from Hocus Pocus?
Beldam is that ugly looking leader type.
Marilyn is that stupid fat one.
And Vivian is the kinda' cute but also stupid type. Good find!
-
Now that you mention it...........
I think Waluigi looks like Dick Dastardly, but everyone knows that.
-
If we could stretch out Johnny Depp's chin a little more, he could be the new Waluigi ^_^.
-
Waluigi seems to be the character that can compare with others the most.
-

I've always thought they looked like the Ghostly Trio from Casper.
-
Vivian as Stinky? I dunno about that one.
-
Stinky didn't say much, and neither did Vivian (unless she wanted to get slammed by Beldam). Plus he had that extreme dragon breath, while Vivian had fire powers.
-
Also, those three muses from the Disney movie Hercules...
And I feel like my post was edited... But maybe I'm just paranoid...
-
You mean the fates? I dunno, there don't seem to be that many similarities between them.
-
And I feel like my post was edited... But maybe I'm just paranoid...
If a post of yours was edited, it would say so at the bottom.
-
Or... would it? *doooo dooooooooooo dOoOoOoOoOoOoO*
-
Heh, Johnny Depp as Waluigi...that would totally kill him.
-
Where in Blue Blazes did you come up with that comparison? If it wasn't a comparison, what did that have to do with anything?
-
I've been watching some SMRPG videos, and if you ask me, Peach (Or Toadstool) is alot like a white mage (If none of you noticed)
-
That's the gig female characters were stuck with back then.
-

Dude, read the posts on the last page. Pt_Peach came up with the idea, not Jman.
-
If we could stretch out Johnny Depp's chin a little more, he could be the new Waluigi ^_^.
That started it.
-
Now I wonder why Jman didn't quote Pt's post. Sometimes I forget certain posts exist, you know.
-
It was probably because he didn't expect that the post would start a new page.
-
Actually, I just forgot to press the quote button, if you can believe that.
I used to compare Digimon to Pokemon, but after rewatching it years later, I found Digimon to be a totally different show.
I also compared Coke to Pepsi and Sprite to 7up.
-
You can;t compare DIgimon to Pokemon for the following reasons:
-Digimon came first.
-Digimon started out as a manga.
-Pokemon started out as a video game.
-Pokemon was inspired by it's director's bug-collecting hobby when he was little.
-
Yeah, but...
1. They both end in "mon" (as in, "Hey, mon, what's up?")
2. Both games deal with collecting various annoying creatures
3. They both take place in some sort of alternate universe where said creatures are commonplace
4. The creatures in both games will grow into some bigger, badder form
5. Both series had one or more crappy movies based on it
6. Both Digimon and Pokemon have some sort of "main" creature used in all their marketing (Pokemon - Pikachu, Digimon - That little annoying dinosaur thing)
7. They both have a trading-card game
-
I hate to break it to you, Chef, but you and Glorb both just did compare Digimon to Pokemon.
-
Uh Glorb, the problem with your assessments is that Digimon is not a video game series. So I don't know which "game" you're referring to on that Digimon side of the spectrum.
Oh, and I can't beleive LD actually listened to you on the name change.
-
There are games out based on Digimon, but, they are really bad.
-
That's the main reason why they shouldn't be compared, though. One is a video game series, and the other is an anime/manga series.
-
It shouldn't matter; if I made a video game called "Gordzilla" about a giant lizard named Gordzilla who terrorizes Kyoto and fights Rordan and Kring Gridora, it's still a Godzilla ripoff. Okay, crappy example, but you get the point. On the other hand, I see what you mean; they're two very different mediums, so yeah.
And I just realized; all The Chef and I do now is argue.
-
Arguments, arguments...well I hope that at least these arguments are fruitful for you both.
-

But...they are in no way the same thing. Digimon had a lot more heart to it, and the basic theme that they all have to work together to stand strong and save the world. In Pokemon, the main goal is to be the best Pokemon master ever, on your own. Yeah, you have friends, but you figure they eventually have to have these friends duke it out to see who's the best. Not to mention the sacrifices made by certain characters to save others in Digimon.
-
Er, friendship with your Pokemon is heavily stressed in most Pokemon-related media.
-
I thought we were comparing people with Mario characters.
Only in the first season of the anime was Agumon supposedly a main creature used for marketing, and that was mostly because his human partner, Tai, was basically the leader figure for the Digi-destineds. Second season had Veemon. Trust me, I practically worshiped Digimon back when I was 12.
-
No, in the first post I said it can be any character, not just Mario.
-
You mean not just Mario characters?
-
I guess the only true difference is that the Digimon could actually speak english other than just saying their names. I mean, speaking English in a way humans can understand.
-
You mean not just Mario characters?
Uh-huh. Mario is speaking of characters in general.
-
I guess the only true difference is that the Digimon could actually speak english other than just saying their names. I mean, speaking English in a way humans can understand.
There are more differences, but you have to have been devoted to both franchises in order to find them
-

How can that be the only true difference if we've already covered a whole bunch of differences? Do you contradict yourself often?

I've been meaning to post this, but just never got to it. It's got a bit of variety, and some of them are kinda funny.

Sometimes, yes.

This is for Bird Person.

One thing's for sure, Pokemon had the better game, and Digimon had the better show, plot wise.
-
We HAVE a YA RLY owl lookalike, and we have for the last 9 years.

That might be because Digimon was a show from the get-go, and Pokemon was a game from the get-go. Geez, you don't listen when the rest of us talk type.
-
LISTEN WHEN I
TALK TYPE!! (http://wheresdezzer.googlepages.com/typing.wav)

I set that looping in the background and now it feels like I'm in an office.
-
There's some music in the background. Apparently it's a song off of Weird Al's album Off the Deep End.
