Title: Super Mario Advance 4?
Post by: Silver Metaknight on October 21, 2008, 03:36:21 PM
Is it possible to play all the e-reader levels through action replay or any other cheat devices?

I've been woundering this too since Nintendo cheated us and not caring about it.
There are two methods, one is illegal and am not posting the link while the on the one is perfectly fine. Try requesting the codes at *MOD EDIT*.

Edit by Luigison:  Do not mention ROM sites on this forum.

Or you could make an exhaustive search for a Japanese E-reader, game, and card sets. (not recommended!)

I've always wondered what those extra levels were like... not anything to stand up and shout about, I'd guess.

It wasn't a rom site. They hack roms. Is that not allowed?

I didn't research their entire site, but even if they do not host any ROM directly they sure link to a lot of sites that do host ROMs.  Besides, you can't get the SMA4 levels from codes like with an Action Replay.  The codes are on the cards.  So you'd have to hack the ROM to add the levels from the cards.  That would mean that anyone without said cards would be pirating the card codes.

I am still very upset about Nintendo canceling series 3 and 4 e-reader cards.  I'm hoping that with the DSi they will add a GBA download channel and have the e-reader levels on it.

That's an excellent idea. Maybe you should give Nintendo the idea.

We're sorry, but there are currently no plans for the exact game you are describing. You can always check on future releases on our official site at www.nintendo.com, and look for similar games.

I've never asked Nintendo directly, but with similiar questions Bird is right.  I did submit it as an IGN Nintendo Minute question though.

That's pretty much the exact response I got about eight years ago when I suggested they port Mario RPG to the Game Boy Color.

How in God's name would that even work? Porting DKC was enough of a stretch... (made ten times lamer by a re-remake on the GBA)

Sound would be another problem if they were porting Mario RPG to the GBC... Unless they ran all of the soundtrack through the 32bit programmable wave channel but that would make the game costly and sound like an underwater orchestra. DKC used most of DK Land's soundtrack so that was Nintendo's lazy workaround for that game.

That's never happened to me. The responce I got was..

"You are a kid that seems to have an idea and a direction. Follow your dreams." - This was in responce to an idea I sent them for Super Mario Kart 2 (before I knew there was going to be an N64 game. I am sure they used my map for Dk's Jungle Parkway.. I've never been able to find my Special Cup maps since they returned my letter..)

"Baby DK is an interesting idea. Maybe we'll make a game one day that shows what he was doing around the time Mario was a baby." - This was in responce to a question I had about what DK was doing around the time Yoshi's Island takes place.

I know I am not the only one with ideas, but it seems that I've given Nintendo at least two. Where's my compensation?!

Why does everyone think they gave NCL ideas when they sent stuff to NOA?
Title: Re: Super Mario Advance 4?

Most of the time, NOA ignores all ideas for gameplay. The letters I've sent to NOA have been responsed as (for instance, my Super Mario Galaxy idea) "We think we'd like to let you know that we recieve thousands of letters everyday with ideas about games. So, we can not use all the ideas mentioned. However..." And then they tell me about the college DigiPen.

I think all you need to do is look at the Wii shelf in game store to know that.

I wounder what would happen if they got a single letter one day.

Sometimes I want to just copy/paste a whole page of GoNintedo comments on an e-mail and send it to Nintendo every day.

I often get the urge to put together an entire book of Sean Malstrom's articles and mail it to blog commenters.

It could have been an unused idea. I doubt they went out of their way to lie to their fans. I doubt any company would do that.

I'm very interested in Mario Golf 64 on VC, but there is currently no way to unlock 4 of the characters since there is no way to connect a GBA to the Wii. Does Nintendo have any plans to release a patch for the game or a method to use retro peripherals with the Wii?

Hello,

While we would like to assist you, the Nintendo 64 accessories are not compatible with the Wii, so you will not be able to unlock the 4 characters you need the Game Boy Advance to get.  So if you do get this game on your Wii, those characters won't be available as there are no plans at this time to make the Nintendo 64 or Game Boy Advance compatible with the Wii.  I hope this is helpful.

Sincerely,

Be sure NOT to check out the Power Line. They haven't updated that thing since E3 2006, and if you live outside of Washington, its a waste of long-distance charges. As for the email, that about as helpful as asking a rock for advice.

Nintendo is good with customer service, though, if only when replacing game stuff.

This was like 3 weeks before the release. I doubt they took it out that fast.

You could go and try to find the Jap cards.

Why do I get the feeling there's probably a better adjective than that...

While I don't think I'd pay a whole lot of money for them, I'd be curious to get ahold of a few of those cards (E-Readers weren't that lame).

Significant bump, but behold, a Neogaf tribute containing the maps of those levels! I couldn't really find this elsewhere on the site but I apologize if it is, indeed, elsewhere.

http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/GBA/index.htm#SuperMarioAdvance4SuperMarioBros3 - Ripped by Peardian, a.k.a. Peardian the awesome. I've known about those maps for some time now.

Also, if someone wants sprites of the SMA4 enemies (including e-World and unused), http://www.spriters-resource.com/gameboy_advance/sma4/sheet/22919.  Yes, I ripped them.

Three things more of worthy of the bump.
1. You can hear the music from all the e-levels with the GSF set.
2. Don't bother buying the Japanese cards because the e-reader has regional lockout. I know it's stupid.
3. You can get a savestae to play the levels but you'll need an emulator like vba.

I have found a solution.

1.Download this .sav file
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=962

2.Rename the (US) .sav to the exact name of your rom and put .sav in the directory as your rom file
3 play in an emulator or do as I did and put it on your GBA and play the levels.

NOTE: 121/140 of all levels are present in the .sav files.
