Title: The Mario Writer's Block
Post by: jon on June 05, 2003, 10:47:02 PM
I think I have an idea. Everyone who likes to write in the Storyboards should write in here to talk to each other. I started something like this and two people(Sapphira and Luigison) went to. They are in this new club. If you wrote a story or something in the Storyboards then come here and talk about your writing styles. In the next post, I'll show you what I mean.

My name is Jonathan Frase and I am currently working on The Mario Story. I am a 14-year-old boy who hates to write and loves to draw and create homemade Mario movies on my PC. I like to reply to the newest topics on the storyboards and I always go on the side of Mario or Luigi. Anyone in this club who gets teased or something like that when they reply to you(people in this club write something-you hate it-you write something mean back to them)I'll get you back. Well, start introducing yourselves!

Jon, my user name is a typo.  I didn't mean it to be Luigi's son, but you are welcome to use it anyway in your story if you want.

MARIO TEACHES TYPING
Edition 1
--------------------------------------------
Hello, everyone, this is jon speaking. As leader of this club, I will start writing "newspaper" articles about what's going on in the Storyboards and other Mario stuff. If you are part of my club then there will be articles about you if you want.
Basically, in every newsletter I write(cleverly called MARIO TEACHES TYPING), I will talk about what stories are popular, progress on the huge story projects(like "The Prophecy"), news about Nintendo, polls, and a few other things. It is something that I will research and post down for all you club members.
Also, every week, I will post up in the newsletter the WRITER OF THE WEEK. I will choose(or you could vote) to say who the WRITER OF THE WEEK is. Don't worry, I will not choose myself. Basically, what the WRITER OF THE WEEK gets is: an essay about the person's writing(good stuff), the newsletter dedicated to them, a list of their topics for you to visit, I will go into other message board sections and say something like "If you want great topics for Mario, come to the Storyboard section and meet bla bla bla", and some more stuff. It will be pretty neat.

Ok, if you're not a member, but you want to become one(you'll want to), post me a message saying your screen name, a little about yourself, some topics you started, and, if you want, upcoming ideas. Club members that are reading this now, could you please talk a little about yourself? It's good that writers have company when they get Writer's Cramp.^_^
I will not start the WRITER OF THE WEEK yet, but come back here and eventually you'll be here. If you have any questions, please reply. Thanks!
*I forgot something! When you give a description of yourself, tell the days and time you usually come to the Storyboards.
For me, I'm usually up here everyday after 3:00 P.M.(late afternoon). That is on school days. On weekends, I will probably be here from 10:00 to I have no idea. Over Summer Vacation, I'll be here from 10:00 and up. If I'm not here, I'm probably writing The Mario Story or A Mario Interview.

Ok, I'll leave with a poll:

If you play Mario games, then this is for you:
Which of the following games is the hardest?
A. Mario Tennis(N64)
B. Mario Golf (N64)
C. Super Mario 64
D. Super Mario Sunshine
E. Super Mario World
F. Any of the Mario Party's
G. Luigi's Mansion
H. Other(and say what game it is)

I will give your results in the next newsletter. This question is an opinion, just to let you know.

The Mario Parties - Their mostly luck.  I got "board" and never finished.  Mario Party is too much like Payday.  Mostly all you do is roll a die or dice and see what happens.  It's about as much fun as counting coin flips.  I prefer Chess.  I want a real challenge.  Other: The Lost Levels (Super Mario 2 in Japan - That game was really hard all though some time you could luck up on timing a jump right, but it was mostly skill and planning.

Well, Luigison, your name will be on the next newsletter-Mario Party and the Lost Levels.
Do you think that this club thing is a good idea? It's something new that I'm trying out.

Oh yeah, DEFINITELY SMB:LL. Man, that whole game was like YI Extra 5, but harder! I'm just glad I was able to beat it 100% on my SMB Deluxe game!

Could be.  It doesn't have the feel of something that would take off like Mario word association or Mario Bar, but we'll see.  It will be about a month before I can put much time into writing.  I have finals the next few weeks, (by the way if you missed a few thread, i am a high school physics teacher) and my little brother will be coming to visit for a couple of weeks.  Besides, that will give me time to think the story through.

Uh, Sapphira, I don't exactly know what the LL stands for(SMB:LL)(Super Mario Bros.:????). I'm asking this so I can post it on the next newsletter.^_^

Ok, then how about 2 votes for SMB:'Lost Levels' ^_^? Is that right? So it's under 'OTHER'.

Luigison, if you were my teacher, you would be the coolest teacher I've ever had. How did you get Mario and physics combined? That IS COOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!!
Do you keep a Nintendo in your class-like for kids who visit you at lunchtime?
That's so cool!

lol. You'd probably be a cool teacher (I mean if I had YOU as one.) Of course you would. You like Mario games! ^_^

And BTW, jon, he's over twice as old as you. But less than twice as old as me. :)

Hey, Sapphira, Luigison-could you tell me what times you are usually on the Fungi Forums? Is it random, or something? Like whenever you can?

For me, yeah, pretty much. In fact I posted my "Daily Schedule" earlier today in the "Ever wanted to make a Mario game?" thread, I think.

I was just thinking about a new topic idea.
Mario, Peach, Yoshi, other Mario characters go on a vacation to Isle Delfino(Super Mario Sunshine),I start it and it could be like a conversation while they walk through Isle Delfino. I might post that up.

I visit the Fungi Forums almost everyday since I am on the computer normally anyway.  The times are specific although it is usually in the evening.  Either 4:30-5:30pm, or around 10pm Pacific.

I'm surprised that you are able to write in here almost everyday! My teachers are always busy grading tests(I have them almost everyday).

Oh, I don't usually stay up on the computer this late. I'm just lucky it's not a school night.

Post by: Luigison on June 06, 2003, 11:41:34 PM
I actually posted it as Luigison.  I have an 85 minute planning period and a tutorial class on alternating days.  I also have a teahers aide.  There is still a lot of work to do.  I should actually be making out my finals and completing my Technology Portfolio right now.  But, I am sure you don't want to here about all of that.

I try to use a lot of things that my students know about in my lessons and labs.  For example, I show excrepts from movies, books, and video games and show how the science in them is wrong, or sometimes right.  I took my Tristar64 to class once.  It was fun.  I used it and my TV monitor to show the primary light colors, electronic principles, programing, etc.  I sold my T64 though and got an SNES because the T64 wouldn't play the SNES games that use the special graphic chip like SMRPG and SMW2.

You teach them stuff like how things work? That's really cool! Do you know how they make video games or memory chips and such?

MARIO TEACHES TYPING
Edition 2
--------------------------------------------
*Ok, I decided just to put whoever has the biggest topic will be WRITER OF THE WEEK. I'll say in Edition 3.

*Here are the poll winners:Sapphira+Luigison both say Super Mario Bros.:Lost Levels. I don't know how the game is since I've never played it, but they claim it's hard.

*Ok, let me give you a list of all the clubs I know of:
1)Mario Bar
2)Mario Writer's Block
3)'86 Club
4)Mario Stuff Club
5)The Ma-Ma-Mario and Luigi Zone
That's all I know of. I might've left something out, but you know what they are.

*The Mario Interview is going quite well, we got to 100 replies in 2 days-that's good progress.

*If you want to show fan art in the Message Boards, try and put it in the Mario Stuff Section because I'm trying to get fan art.

*Uh, I can't think of anything else going on at this time, so I'll leave with another poll:
What do you think is Bowser's favorite food?
A)Fire Pops-because they're nice+sweet+spicy.
B)Koopa Burgers-because they're made from Koopa meat
C)Lavasicle-Because it's frozen lava
D)Hot Tamales-it's that candy stuff here on Earth.
E)Other

Hmm...I hope it's not B), or else he'd be a cannibal! I'll say a Lavasicle.

Oh, and here are some more Clubs:
Mario Restaurant
Mario Fallout Shelter
The Colourful Mario Club (UK owner)
Crystal Palace

and the Mario Mall, I think...

I didn't see those clubs when I went through the lists. They were at the bottom or something. Thanks for telling me those.
And, yes, it would be true that Bowser is a cannible if he eats Koopa Burgers-maybe he only does it with prisoners. I'll put in your vote.

You should go back and checkout the Mario Fallout Shelter and the Mario Bar at the same time.  Someone set off a Nuke in the Bar so I made the Shelter.  It was kinda funny.

Ahhh...those were the days...  The Mario Bar and Mario Restaurant joining together... Marioguy bringing in...inappropriateness... Mario Master setting off a nuke to get rid of them....  Me running in and rescuing the hopeless people trapped in there with the radiation...  Hot Dr. Pepper... Me revaeling the secret recipe of Able Juice... those were memorable moments... :)

What on Earth are you two talking about?!?
I've only been here for 4 days! I'm a newbie! All I know is that I have no idea what goes on in these bars because I just read the last pages of topics and adds Mario's Backwards Pants! I just really do that! Oh, I'm also doind the Mario Interview. I first thought it was a bad idea, but in 3 days, I already have more then 150 replies! I want to keep this up! It's really interesting! All I need now is some more people to come in so they could play as Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, you know. Then it will be really cool! Trust me, it will! Try and get some people in the interview! Luigison, someone is already Luigi, so if you want to go in, you'll probably have to be someone else. And Sapphira, if you want, you can let Luigison be Mario if you don't want to be 2 people, or you can do whatever-ok?
Title: Re: The Mario Writer's Block
Post by: Sapphira on June 08, 2003, 02:47:06 PM
Naw. I like being two people. :P

To find out what's going on, read page 9 of the Mario *DINER* and Page 99-100 of the Mario Bar. Also, find the Mario Fallout shelter page. (BTW, pg 101 of the Mario Bar is when the Personality topic broke out. I joined here on page 87.) That should clear some confusion. :)

Uh, yeah, it's good that you wrote that, but I don't think I'll actually go check them out-my computer's sort of slow right now and I have to keep watch with my topics like the Mario Interview. Oh, I think Marionut left for 4 hours, so I guess I'll start asking Mario+Peach more questions.

Well, it's been awhile since I've been doing this...it's because I've been orking on my site, Mariotendo.
I just need to find some more people...I hope Lateralus doesn't find this, then I'll call Insane Steve to get rid of his porn URL...that guy makes me sick!
I'll write a newsletter sometime soon, this time about our websites. See ya' later!
