I just got it 2 days ago. I'm on World 3 and played some World 4 (or 5?) levels cause I got the cannon in World 1. I didn't play it much, but the difficulty is a huge step from the DS version...which is good, cause I love the challenge that I rarely find.

I never owned the original, I guess I'll buy this when I get money. But I'm not in a huge rush cause IMO it's not really that great.

I bought it today and played it for the first time. It controls better then I expected...a lot like MK:SC (which was my first Mario game ever, so I know what I'm saying). The only thing that threw me off is how the drifting is like...inverted from SC or 64...its hard to explain but IMO it makes more sense how it makes cornering easier. Oh and the music is pretty amazing.

I was playing 64 too and I noticed, contrary to what penguinwizard said, I think karts were WAY to slippery. Like a TON of times when I was playing I ended up making a mistake solely because of the bad control...or maybe it was just cause I was using Bowser and then Wario if that has anything to do with it...

Let me see...

Rigged - Maybe it's not an entirely closed gamer term, but I usually use it when a part of the game sets you up for a trap for the game is too hard in a certain part.
We can beat a game, or we can finish it.
My own take on that, is, beat means to just beat the final boss/final whatever, finish means to completely collect everything and beat the game.

NP confirmed this in their latest magazine.  However, none of the Yoshis have any powers in this game (which may be why they dumped the red and blue Yoshis, to avoid confusion.  Personally, I agree that he can be abused, but come on, it's fun as heck to plow through SMW and just break the game, and that certainly didn't impair the game's quality or popularity.  Why can't games today have that kind of face-value difficulty, but hidden break-ability?

Wow that's just stupid. They should at least implant something like the "no Yoshi" sign like they did in the SMW beta.

Eh, I don't necessarily mind the Ice Flower color scheme; however, like I mentioned before, I think a white shirt/hat and icy blue/light blue overalls combo would've worked nicely.

I'm sure they went with the scheme they did because I imagine kids would be like "HURR LOL WITE SHIRT AND HAT 4 FIER AND WITE SHIRT AND HAT 4 TEH ICE! LOL CANT TEL TEH DIFFERNCE!"

Seriously, they should have just took the Ice Mario from SMG and called it a day. Why waste your time for a lesser and lazy looking result.

Did anyone watch the Do the Mario video just to see how to actually do the Mario? I watched it and I still don't know the moves. I understand the "swing your arms from side to side" bit, but not much else.

You forgot to take one step, and then again. (I think)

On topic, I noticed the Red or Blue Yoshis haven't been seen since the box art surfaced.  I wonder if they replaced them with the Pink and Light Blue Yoshis?

That would horribly screw up the sense of the game, but if you think about it, COULD make sense. First of all, Pink and Light Blue (and some more) colored Yoshis were the only ones found on Isle Delfino, which is NOT in the Mushroom Kingdom, however, it can be debated if Dinosaur Island, where Yoshi first debuted (SMW for those who don't know), was really in the Mushroom Kingdom either. If not, then this would make sense...plus, to further confuse us, notice how the only instance of a Yoshi in the Mushroom Kingdom, in SM64 was a single Yoshi. Rather, the Yoshi. Notice how there is supposedly a single Yoshi in SMW too, but Mario sometimes uses his friends. That/those Yoshis have some sense of intelligence and can talk. Same with Yoshi in SM64. However, the Isle Delfino Yoshis are unable to talk, and never do. So basically, it sort of makes sense to use Pink and Light Blue Yoshis, but that'll screw everything up if they have some sort of intelligence.

I think it's neat how the voices in the Super Show were actually quite similar to Martinet's modern-day interpretations of Mario and Luigi's voices. I thought they were great, and in fact would totally not mind if Mario and Luigi magically started having those voices now, for no reason.

QFT.
I was (and still am) a huge fan of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!  Best wishes, Captain Lou and family.  You will always be my favorite Mario voice.

"Mario is dead."  It's strange how those words make me teary-eyed despite how many times I caused it on the TV.

Haha, that made me laugh.

Now I really want to listen to it on Youtube. The "DO THE MARIO!!" dance thing.

I thought Yoshi's Island DS was good, just not very good.  I think some of the reason people say YI DS wasn't good was because YI SNES was so very good, and some people may also be prejudiced based on who made the game.

I agree, but in all honesty, Yoshi's Island DS is probably one of the best semi-sequels to a game that a third party developer ever made. Seriously. It may not be THE YS2, but it can definitely pass itself off. It's pretty hardcore. Though, it is difficult (in a good way, seriously, there aren't many difficult games). I never did manage to beat the last level, but it is a great, well-made game. If you haven't played the first, you should play it.

Doesn't sound half bad. Considering all the other Sim games at the time, I wouldn't have been surprised if they went in that direction. Of course you can start disasters like... er, I better not touch that. Maybe have the chemistry room blow up or a teacher fall asleep. And I'm betting the school basketball mascot will be a llama.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's a game called School Tycoon which I used to own, and yeah it's pretty much how you described it, however, it lacks certain features of Sims games that it should have. And it does have a disaster thing though.

I think the only "Water Temple" I've really hated is the one in Majora's Mask.

I'm like a Zelda noob (Didn't beat OoT, never played MM) but I didn't think the one in TP was that bad...well maybe it was. I can't remember. ;_;

...And in English, to boot!

I'm pretty sure that's a ROM patch...I could be wrong. Notice the weirdly spaced "Gold" and "Toto". That's what English letters look in the Japanese games.
