Steven9wii wasn't a troll, but an artist.

[Captain Jim will agree with me here]

Deadpool done right.  Yup, I finally saw X-Men Origins.

Don't worry; Ryan Reynolds is insisting on "Deadpool done right" for the Deadpool movie.

I haven't seen Wolverine; was Deadpool done wrong? The only way I can imagine him being done right is if his solo movie has him doing nothing but pulling psycho fourth-wall craziness constantly.

He lost his mouth after he actually became Deadpool. It can't get any more wrong than that.
Title: Re: What we need in this world
Post by: Turtlekid1 on May 15, 2009, 03:35:28 PM
He was good at the beginning when he "wasn't Deadpool yet."  He made wisecracks and wouldn't shut up.  But they did sort of make up for the wrongness by giving him a mouth again.  Did no one else see that ending after the credits?  It showed his hand coming out of some rubble and reaching for his severed head, which apparently has a mouth again.  Then the head said "shh" to the audience.  That was a good enough breakage of the fourth wall for me.

Yeah, that was only in some theaters. I got a different third ending.

Super Mario World High Definition Remix is something we need.

We need less of people trying to validate their existance by trying really hard to turn everything into a joke/meme. This goes for the whole internet.

If it's not already, it will be soon. It's impossible to make any statement now without somebody attempting to look witty by creating a topic in response to it.

Right, because every thread that's been "parodied" was created to make some profound statement. Glorb, you really need to take a step back and put things back into perspective. It seems like you're taking this whole internet forum thing way too seriously as of late. Especially for a guy whose post history is full of jokes and attempts at humor.

I mean no offense but I'm not going to mince words. Your responses to the Steven9Wii situation and now to these "parody" threads that've been going on since before you joined sounds more like someone complaining because people aren't paying attention to them. Whether or not that's the case is your business, but my unsolicited advice to you would be to take a breather.

While I realize I may be taking things too seriously for what they're worth, poor attempts at humor are one of my major pet peeves. These days, all it takes to get someone laughing is to rephrase something and spam it over and over again. As a result, someone who's not interested in seeing twelve iterations of the exact same joke by people who want a slice of the laugh-pie up on the front page will be annoyed. A bunch of nonsense sentences isn't funny (unless, y'know, it is). A bunch of other people copying the same style or otherwise riffing off the same unsuccessful attempt at humor isn't funny either. Steven9Wii was hilarious at first until he was proven not to be a bot. Then he started trying too hard to please everyone, and the only reason anyone laughed was to keep up the whole charade of him being funny.

There. That's my two cents; I'm going to try to avoid saying any more on the subject.

I'll have to disagree on one thing. Steven9wii did not ever make me laugh, not once.

Same here, but I can see how others could laugh at/with him.  I may not be a good judge of funny though.  I like corny puns and lateral thinking jokes.

I agree with both of you. I didn't laugh at Steven. The long posting kinda annoyed me, but this isn't the topic for that.

Your problem is looking at Steven9wii as if he were a comedian. I never laughed at him either. Steven was an artist, experimenting with what posts could achieve. He tried to make us experience feelings that no one else had inspired through a post. And you know what? He succeeded a few times.

Steven9wii gave us the most valuable thing there is. He showed us something new.

Throwing incoherent garbage around a post/putting gigantic spaces in between every word in a single sentence is NOT art.

Unless Lizard Dude is secretly a TV tropes follower.... (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TrueArtIsIncomprehensible)

Steven9wii was the greatest thing on this forums all year, bar none. Coming here now seems like just looking at the bland internet flotsam I keep feeling the need to avoid.

You want real art? Look at that James bot a couple weeks back. Completely unadulterated, untainted artistic vision. His posts were deeply textured, genuinely interesting pieces. And he wasn't even human. Then he got deleted. No number of hambulances or giant spaces or 2s could ever match the potential James had.

Um...Caterina's work is real art. Neither James nor Steven posted anything worthwhile/artful.

I didn't want Steven to leave because it was fun to make fun of him.

Philistine - a person deficient in the culture of the liberal arts, or a smug and intolerant opponent of the bohemian, one who exhibits a restrictive moral code.

I'm a republican.
Close.

Conservative - a person upholding traditional moral and religious values, opposing welfare, having a resistance to change and a tolerance for inequality.

More like two people who disagree each describing their own beliefs in more positive terms than their opposition. Here, let me try.

Conservatives: Small government, individual liberty.
Liberals: Big government, collective equality.

And incidentally, present-day Republican party: Too big-governmenty for conservatives, too mean for liberals.

CrossEyed7's definition is perfect.

Also, I don't think Chupperson is either democrat or republican. From what I can gather, he's a conspiracy theorist and distrustful of all forms of government.

Am I right, Chup, or am I terribly wrong?

I'm going to go ahead and say that you're almost completely wrong.
Title: Re: What we need in this world
Post by: PaperLuigi on May 18, 2009, 11:54:12 AM
How so? Here's a bit of evidence that allowed me to come to my conclusion...

PaperLuigi, I don't think you're paranoid enough.

No, the american government media is much more interested in cultivating a race of pliable couch potatoes. Thus they do as much as possible to make you sit in front of your TV getting fat with diabetes, distracted enough by non-news drivel not to notice.

Some people have brought up the idea that it was artificially created. Also, pharmaceutical companies stand to make a killing from the drugs they're shipping out all over the place because of it. Said drugs aren't sufficiently tested and potentially deadly. Government shouldn't be able to mandate vaccinations, etc. because we end up with the previous "swine flu" situation from the '70s where they started giving mandatory vaccinations and the vaccine killed people. I was going to say that Turtlekid may be onto something (but I retract that with his latest post), although I would substitute "media" for government, but then again the media that is promoting swine flu as a pandemic is all government-fueled anyway.
It's pretty funny though how we get a new not-really-pandemic every few years that just kind of dematerializes. Also I agree with the people who declare "swine flu" a misnomer because it isn't actually the same virus.

Knowing what's really going on doesn't make you a conspiracy theorist.

If the world needs less of something, take your pessimism over to that thread.

Also, the area of "conspiracy theroies" is probably one of the only ones I would agree with Chupperson in.
