A few years ago, my mom had a friend who was not the brightest. She "enrolled" (read: started taking online classes) at the nearest Le Cordon Bleu. She was so happy to finally be "pursuing her dream of cooking" (she was the sort of person who called everything she did "pursuing her dream") that she needed to tell absolutely anyone she saw about it. She also liked to include various facts about the school whenever she talked about it. As a result, I got to hear her tell everyone she encountered about how she was learning to be a chef, and that "Le Cordon Bleu" means "chicken with ham and cheese."

It doesn't mean that. It means "the blue rope." Chicken Cordon Bleu is in fact the name of a dish made with chicken, ham, and cheese, but it has nothing to do with the cooking school.

I don't see anything funny or interesting about the ad though.

What has happened is a basic French word was reappropriated by thirteen-year-old 9gaggers, and now someone found its proper usage funny.

No, it was just that the advertised school is supposedly "#1 in the nation," yet they have been kind of obscure, and apparently it's online courses. (read: online recipe book)

And Mario fansites usually have nothing to do with cooking.

Kinopio is the ultimate video game character! Who else can drive a kart, host parties, play tennis, give good advice and items, and is almost always happy??

I didn't WTD with that ad because I know the guy is really 74.  It's not a photoshop.  I've read about him and on a related note am now taking testosterone.
