Yes, that is a good idea.  Most other forums have this feature

The New Posts/No New Posts/Closed Topic icons are kind of buggy and could also use a key at the bottom of the Main Menu (where you select a forum to go to) and the Forum Pages (like General Mario Chat and Story Boards)
