Here's the best one to date. I was done soon after, but only posted here now because I have a more important announcement to make. Before I go to bed, a brand new LizCam Production will be up here.

Brace yourselves.

The Mattrix (.wmv version; smaller file and better quality)

The Mattrix (.mpg version; larger file and worse quality; solves Mac incompatibilities)

Sorry about using my "Matrix name", but it worked better for multiple reasons. ;)

The way you keep talking about your use of the archaic MPEG format in such a way that it makes Macs look bad is almost funny. But I shall not . . . argue . . .

Anyway, my whole family (minus my older bro who is in California) has now seen this latest movie of yours, and we all love it. Super good job, Lizard!! You were funny, the choice of sound/music was great, and you did a really good job with the editing. Thank you for sharing that with us!

I like "Nintendo" and "BennyHillLD," but so far "O Fortuna" and "The Mattrix" stand as my favorites. Your movies are a lot of fun to watch, and they make me wish I had a bit more time to make some more of my own.

I'm really not trying to make Macs look bad, but the program that I compile the movies with only makes .wmv. So then I slap it into another program that makes .mpg. I'll have to look into converting to DivX .avi or something.

But Macs are actually superior in video/photo editing, although I don't really know why. That just seems to be the accepted fact I've seen everywhere.

There are probably a lot of reasons, but my brain has become fried, so thinking is no longer an option. I'll instead take advantage of Time magazine's latest issue by quoting the final paragraph of an article it has on Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple:

In Silicon Valley, being wrong is a common side effect of being innovative. Jobs has been synonymous with the kind of ingenuity that's at the forefront of the tech industry. Everything his company does is scrutinized, often imitated and sometimes even stolen by competitors. (Windows is the most notable example of the highest form of flattery; Wal-Mart's launch of a download-music site is the most recent.) The mouse, how your computer's desktop acts when you point and click at folders and files, wireless Net connectivity, flat-panel displays and DVD burners—these are just some of the things that Jobs was the first to get right for a mass market. He baked them into his Macs, which forced the PC world to follow along. What's next? Jobs will say only, "What drives us is delighting customers." He's definitely right about that.

Yeah, I've always thought that Apple and Nintendo share the same role in their industries. They make all the great, innovative stuff, but other companies steal it and make more money off of it.

Plays fine on my computer.

EDIT: I believe a problem has occured because of a faulty upload that was filled with interruptions and server disconnects. I've reuploaded the video in one, constant, deliciously-smooth stroke and may have corrected the problem.

Oh, thanks for the reminder, Lizard Dude! X_x

. . . wait, I have seen this before! Or I tried to watch it once, at least. The only Mac software I've come across that can play the .wmv format is Windows Media Player for Mac OS X, and it doesn't do the job very well, at least not on my machine. The audio is fine, but the video is so choppy that I have to guess what exactly is going on. So probably when I tried to watch it before, I foolishly got frustrated and stopped the movie early.

Even without much video, though, it's actually worth watching/listening to because the song is good, and your encouragement to keep going near the end was great. Also, I really like the music that plays during the credits; what is that?

The only comment I have about the visuals is about the dude sitting in the chair. I find it funny that he's even there, and he reminds of David for some reason.

As for "Walking in the Footsteps of Our Childhood," I was able to get it to play just fine, but I never remembered to come back here and leave any feedback. >_< That movie was a lot of fun! It made me wish that I were with you guys in OK, and I really liked the ending. I was glad to see more of Chup's neighborhood, too. Nice idea, filming outside like that. ;P

I don't have any recollection of "Song Concerning Deezer," so I need to listen to it again . . .

Nice jobs, TEM and guys. :)

Nope, the video quality is horrible on my machine, too. And I just got Panther. (Though, that has nothing to do with anything, I just wanted to say that.)

Though, there are times when the video quality is nice, but that's usually when there isn't much movement of things. The audio is just fine, though.

Wow, Lizard Dude, your videos are amazing! I thought I was the only person who held the N64 controller like that. Now I know I'm not so weird afterall. I used my right midle finger to hit the Z button...you?

Edit - I just watched the video again, and, yes, you clearly hit the Z button with your right middle finger. I wonder if Nintendo knew some players held the controller that way...

TMPGEnc can convert WMV into AVI. When you set the compression settings, simply choose DivX as the codec. For audio you should probably choose MP3, as it's the most common audio codec in DivX videos.

Note: When you open the source video, you have to set it to show all files. It doesn't show them by default even though it recognizes them.

What?! You were the complete inspiration! Or have you already forgotten Meet Watoad 1 & 2? The brother with the Santa hat and knives? The unphased father figure?

The idea to film yourself watching it was brilliant. I almost filmed myself watching you watch it, but figured that would be overkill and not overwhelmingly interesting.

P.S. This is the first time it has been announced, but Meet Us contains a subliminal message and a certain #tmk member gets a "hidden" shout out in S.T.I.D.

Oh, oh . . . WOAH!!! Dang!! I'm stupid! Yeah! I mean, dang it!! >_<

Okay, well, first of all, I had sort of forgotten Meet Watoad 1 & 2 because I hadn't watched either of them in I don't know how long. So none of my "dance" moves in them were on my mind. Even so, the Santa Clause hat did remind of my brother sitting on the kitchen sink, and although I had no inkling of a connection whatsoever, the dude in the chair did bring to mind my dad at the computer in Meet Watoad 2 a little bit. In addition to that, when I showed my bro Meet Us tonight (before I read the recent posts here), he kept commenting on how your dance moves looked a lot like mine. "There's only so much you can do when dancing, I guess," I said with a shrug.

Suffice it to say, I didn't quite realize just how similar they were. After refreshing my memory on the Meet Watoads and then re-watching Meet Us, I could see plainly that they were indeed "the complete inspiration." And you guys did a bang-up job! XD I'm surprised by how well you imitated me and resultantly also a little embarrassed that I totally failed to notice. *>_<* From both versions of my sink-seated brother to the spin with the peace sign to the goofy hands-waving-at-the-head move, you guys had it down. I'm thoroughly impressed. (And I laughed a whole ton more, you can be sure.)

I'm actually not very surprised that I didn't notice on my own, though. Tonight, for example, my dad and I were watching part of an old miniseries called Shōgun, which has a lot of unsubtitled Japanese in it. Although my Japanese is still not good enough to understand movie Japanese (movie English is usually difficult for nonnative English speakers to understand, too), I was at a definite advantage over my dad. Even so, I had to ask him several question to understand everything that was going on. This acute example of what normally happens when I see a movie with a more-than-simple plot should make it clear that for whatever reason I'm much more dull than usual when watching moving pictures.

Suffix, as far as I know everyone else used QuickTime to play it. I think MP4 is a standard format, but for some reason it seems to fare better in QT just as AVI seems to have more of a home in Windows Media Player.

This is what Wikipedia has to say, anyway:

MPEG-4 Part 14 or *.mp4, is a file format (a so called container) specified as a part of the ISO/IEC MPEG-4 international standard. . . . Apple's QuickTime file format was the start point design of the *.mp4 file format. Although still very reminiscent of each other, *.mp4 has changed and been improved in many different ways apart from *.mov that they are really not the same file format anymore.

Thanks, Markio. ^_~

It feels good to have a movie-editing project complete. Not only is it fun to watch the polished—or at least finished—film, but the editing can become somewhat tedious and tiresome as time fails to stop passing. For me time has finally ceased to fail, meaning that my latest project is done, and I feel some sense of relief (and accomplishment, I suppose).

This actually wasn't a huge project of any kind, and I've made only one mention of it before—yesterday-ish (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=8866.msg399429#msg399429), actually. Unlike my three previous videos, which were goofy projects of my own filmed with a digital camera, this one is a goofy project of my church's filmed with their super-nice DV camera. Really, it doesn't involve anyone here on any level except that Watoad (me) helped with the planning, acting, and editing. I just happen to be uploading a small version of the movie to the Internet for my coconspirators to see, and it's convenient for me to post a link for potentially interested bystanders here as well.

Please note that the intended audience of this movie is college students attending a Christian worship and social gathering. Add that to the fact that it is intended to be a promotional video, and you might realize that you have no real reason to download and watch it. As always, that's cool if you don't; I just want to warn the potentially harmable bystanders from being offended or bored.

Dang, why do I type so much for something so little? I think I have problems. Here's the oversized file you've already waited too long to decide that you don't want to download:

The oversized file. (http://homepage.mac.com/wyse/The%20Chronicles%20of%20Black%20Lake.mp4) (91.8 MB)

Oh, wait. There's another thing that I have to say. Hmm, I should have planned this post better or something.

My apologies to the Mac crowd with which I have always affiliated, but I have to step across the line a little tonight. I used iMovie to do the editing, and it disappointed this time around. Perhaps I'm ready for something a bit more advanced because I ran into multiple situations where I just didn't have the level of control that I needed, and it was quite frustrating.

Probably the worst thing was exporting the completed film, which I never managed to understand. It took me forever to get the settings right for the version linked above, which is larger than it should be because everything else I tried looked like garbage. And I've yet to successfully export a full, loss-less version for displaying on my own computer. I guess iMovie just doesn't handle high-quality video very well.

There you have it. Apple disappointed, and I don't care to stand up for them for the sake of standing up for them anymore. I'll wait until I'm appointed again before I stand back up.

Ahahaha, that was awesome! XD
Very nice job! (And I totally cracked up XD) It reminds me of announcement/promotionals my church has done before. I loved the Darth Vader theme playing at the end.

Watoad is...Edmund! XD

Yeah, that would certainly be nice, but even Final Cut Express is $300, which I don't have. The professional applications run well into the thousands.

I'm glad you liked it, Sapph! It'll probably be funniest to people who know the actors, but I guess there's some general humor in there amongst the intense low budget-ness, too. :P That particular music selection at the end was my dad's idea, actually.

Yep, you got it! Nice job.

Waitaminute...
You swore...? You...actually swore...? When I first watched the video I was like "............WTD!!??" but then I thought, "Naw, he couldn't've..." I replayed it and listened carefully, and it didn't sound like you did, like you said "in blazes" or something else. Plus I couldn't actually believe that you would, well...swear. It's, like....not in your character (even if it is in "Edmund's")...and the video is done for your church, by people in your church...
But then you told me you did say...certain words... I don't understand... How...? Why...?
Watoad...and church...and swearing... the latter one doesn't fit with the other two...

It was essentially a really amusing introduction to Black Lake Bible Camp using Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe style to introduce it with music from various movies such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, even Monty Python and the Holy Grail-- Which is what made me laugh even more than the counting person stopping at 8.

I really don't care much if a person DOES swear. I actually thought Watoad, ahem, Watoad's character said "Blazes" as well, until Sapph IMed me saying he- his character actually did swear. I told her to not make a huge deal out of it, as it technically wasn't Watoad himself saying it.

Oh wait... I guess they aren't that big. I'll just have to wait a little. Maybe go read while it downloads.

Speaking of getting kicked out of a library for laughing too hard... something like that almost kinda sorta happened. At I library I logged on a computer and then went to the site OC Remix and listened to the song "Bubble Bobble Hillbilly Rodeo Remix". Immediately I wanted to laugh. As I continued listening to it it became harder not to laugh until finally I had to cover my mouth so that I wouldn't lose it. I felt so uncomfortable because it was so quiet in the library and there was a girl sitting at a computer next to mine. But now I can look back and laugh (and listen to it right now on my computer XD).

Yay, my first movie!

http://kontek.net/LizardDude/Vidgmchtr%20POPS%20Concert%2005.mov (~15 MB, ~13 minutes in length, thank Lizard Dude for putting the file up)

Okay, you don't actually see me in this one, you just have to assume I'm there (which I am). This was recorded back in February of 2005, around this time (so, pretty much a year ago). The concert I'm in is called a "Pops" concert. The band I'm in (Symphonic Band, white shirts) combined with another band (Wind Ensemble, black shirts). I'll be headed to Wind Ensemble next year. The piece we played is called "Selections from Phantom of the Opera", and it was arranged by Warren Barker. It begins with a little skit in which an auction is held (I'm acquaintences with the guy who plays the auctioneer). After the first item was sold (The "Figure of a monkey...playing the cymbals" was really a panda squeak toy. The guy who played the auctioneer joked about it just before we went on stage), a guy on the keyboard plays an organ-like tune, and the auctioneer tells the story about a chandelier in pieces, which was connected to the tragedy of The Phantom of the Opera.

The band then cuts in, and it's just about 9-10 minutes of us playing through the piece, with a guy playing the Phantom cutting in a couple of times. The guy who played the Phantom currently likes to ask me "Why aren't you practicing?" whenever I had a free period which I spend in the band room doing nothing.

I'll have this year's concert up in a day or so. I'll edit this post when I do (and you'll see me more).

Haha, that's not what I meant. I was going to make a video of video games. I was going to be playing Super Mario Sunshine, then make it into a story. My friends and I would talk and have a little story backround thing. Ugh, it's better done than explained.

Well, I'll be "in it", but just my voice. The camera will just be completely focused on the TV screen. Or I might just record the TV screen with my DVD player so it doesn't have a blur, etc. Then just add on some sound clips.
Title: Re: LizCam Productions

You could always put a lamp in front of the camera, then stand between the camera and lamp so your face almost completly blocks the camera's view of the lamp. This way, the camera's iris will close so much that your face will appear almost completly black. I took some example pictures and posted them here.

I'll let Watoad speak for himself:

On Valentine's Day night I got up in front of maybe 600–700 students at the end of a church-like service to say a couple of verses from Hebrews in Japanese. I spent a long time memorizing the verses, but sadly my mind went completely blank when I got up in front of everybody. So I took advantage of the fact that pretty much no one could understand me and said some random stuff in Japanese. It was terrible, really, and I was quite angry afterwards. But I am now the only one to have pulled off a fake benediction. (Which I'm not proud of, but oh well.)

And here is... a video of it!

I want to be famous like Vid! Say "Khold is my best friend and she is the best person in the world!" in your next video! Then say "Khold is better than me in every way possoble." Then end your video with "Khold RoxorZzZ!"

I have some things to say about those videos:

-Sapphira looks bountifully less strange with glasses on, although she didn't look strange much to begin with.
-Jenni is my hero. But not because she put down Vidgmchtr.
-Shiny sparkly things are indeed likeable.
-It would be strange if Sapphira mentioned me. Perhaps insulting, depending how she worked it in, and for what reason.
-Nose rings like the kind Jenni had make me think of a zit made out of diamond.

Come to think of it, Sapph kind of reminds me of Peach. I don't know why, but when I was watching them, I got an image in my head that covered Sapph's face with Peach's. Mabey it's the blonde hair. XD

Khold: Ahaha, yes, we DO have weird conversations. All the time. It's awesome. XD
It wouldn't be art if you couldn't use a camera! Well, okay, that class is really laid back. Plus it was before class actually started. And hey! My jacket's not heavy; it's lightweight! And it's still winter! And I wear it all the time! :P

Markio:
- Are you saying I look "more normal" with glasses than without?
- XD (I told Jenni you said that, and "XD" was her exact response as well)
- \:D/
- I have mentioned you to her before. I've mentioned a lot of you. We talk about our online lives a lot, as we both have them. But you meant if I mentioned you in a video, eh?
- I think the same thing, too.

Khold again: Ahaha x_X

The Sapphira car videos always give me the impression that they are going to end with a crash.

... in the next video Sapphira walks 20 miles ...

Actually, Sapphira, my best friend who passed away and I used to have even stranger conversations. I would say "What's up?" and he'd always say "What do you think is up? The sky?" Then we would go into weird little chattings about the sky and gravity for an hour-and-a-half somehow.

Good times... XD

Wow, movie number 2 from Vidgmchtr!

http://kontek.net/LizardDude/Vidgmchtr%20POPS%20Concert%2006.mov (http://kontek.net/LizardDude/Vidgmchtr%20POPS%20Concert%2006.mov)

(~25 MB, ~16 minutes in length, thank Lizard Dude for hosting this one as well)

This time, I can be seen in this movie. Unlike last year's concert, there wasn't a skit preceding the piece. The piece we did was "Medley from Miss Saigon", and, like the last piece, was arranged by Warren Barker.

The camera is zoomed in on me a lot of the time, but it shifts to other musicians as well as the conductor. You can also see a few familiar faces, as they also took part in last year's concert.

At one point in time, around the last piece, you can see me looking at someone while I'm resting (you can't see me while playing, anyway). The horn player 2 seats to my left started talking to me. You can see me replying, but you don't see her at all.

Her: Mike.
Me: *Turns to her*
Her: When you get up to those high notes (She's referring to a high F#, very difficult to play on a horn), if you can't play them, DON'T.
Me: ....I can play them.
Her: ...But if you can't, DON'T.
Me: ........Okay. *Turns back, and continues to mutter to himself* I can play them......I can play them.

I did play them correctly. She had her doubts, because last year when we were in band together, I mostly played lower notes, rather than high ones.

I do regret the fact that my father caught me on camera muttering to myself. I also seem to make these very odd faces, which I don't normally make at all. Meh...

Also, for the people who were too lazy to click on the link I gave you two pages ago:

I meant to post this several weeks ago, but, well, didn't. >_<

Presently Watoad is in Malawi, Africa, with a team of four others from his church, doing missions at an orphanage. He left two and a half weeks ago (June 19) and will be there for two months. He returns (home, probably not to the forums) August 16.

About two months ago, a promotional video was made regarding this for Deputation Sunday at his church. (World Deputation is his church's missions program.) Before either of us left Washington, he said I could share the video with you guys. Here's Watoad's commentary:

Quote from: Watoad
I'm not featured in it as heavily as the previous ones [videos] (and I wasn't involved in making it), but you'll at least be able to see what my Malawi team looks like. . . . Although it's only a minute and a half, this is my favorite video produced for the church yet.
World Deputation Promo (http://homepage.mac.com/wyse/Dep%20Sunday%20Promo.mpg) (21.3 MB)

What an incredible opportunity! Please pray for him and his team (and the other teams, as well). They could use it, and I know it'd be very appreciated.

I forgot to link to these before, so...

http://max.vance.googlepages.com/vidgmchtr (thank MaxVance for hosting them)

This page contains a few videos I made on my last day of classes (June 12th) to show the people of TMK uhh....my friends.
They're all short, and some contain my teachers and friends. I only turned the camera to myself in a couple of the videos.
(I'll write transcripts for a few of them, as some of the dialogue is a bit hard to understand.)

And that video with Watoad was PURE AWESOMENESS.

The "GIANT VIDGMCHTR HEADER" on that page that Vid linked to is there to compensate for that being hosted by me. It used to be smaller and just said "Vidgmchtr", but I changed it after someone in #tmk mentioned it. Vid also had a video of his walk home, but apparently Google Pages won't accept an upload of more than 10 MB.

Watoad's video was wonderful. I hope he and his team do well in Africa.

We've been talking about Guitar Hero a lot in #tmk the last few days. I made a vid for there of myself playing Psychobilly Freakout from Guitar Hero II. I've done better and I've done worse; it's just an average play. Earlier in the day I had 5-starred it for the first time.

Nice dude. Was that on expert?

Regarding your first video: Were you the Bucket of Rock guy?

How are these tournaments structured? Mostly elimination? Points-based? All Guitar Hero 2, or have there been ones that are Guitar Hero 1? I'm not about to take a trip to Bozeman to go play a tourney, I'm just asking about general Guitar Hero tournaments. Skill levels? Only Expert? How can I find tourneys in my town?
Title: Re: LizCam Productions
Post by: Lizard Dude on May 11, 2007, 10:06:07 AM
Yep, expert.

Yep, that's me.

Both of those were single-loss elimination brackets using Pro Face-Off mode. I've also been in tourneys that just used highest score on a certain song to determine the winner and not direct competition. That way people could play any time during the day at their leisure.

I've only seen GH2 tourneys, but that's just me. The popularity skyrocketed around that time.

Tournaments might have non-Expert sections, but if you can't play Expert, go back to rock school.

I don't know how to find tourneys in your town. It's easy for me now because every time one happens, about ten people message/call/tell me.

I just picked up GH2. Lizard Dude, you can beat Jordan on Expert? Have you 5-starred all the songs on Expert? That would be insane.

Who's singing the "Brief Conversations" theme song? It's pretty good.
Title: Re: LizCam Productions
Post by: Lizard Dude on May 18, 2007, 04:13:28 PM
I can beat Jordan on Expert. 4-star, but I could probably bump it up to 5 if I worked on the non-solo parts. I'm pretty poor at comboing them. I've 5-starred everything except Beast and the Harlot and Misirlou on the main setlist. Bonus songs not 5-starred include Six, Jordan, and one or two more that I can't remember off the top of my head. Don't know if I'll ever finish because I'm kind of cooling off until GH: '80s.

Brett sings "Brief Conversations".

Ah. My friend plays on 360, he has yet to 5-star Hangar 18, Six, Jordan, Gemini, and I think one or two more. Odd thing is, he 5-starred Beast and the Harlot and hasn't even beaten Jordan yet.

I can't talk, though. I'm just playing through Expert to unlock all the songs and I am consistently getting four stars, with the occasional five- and three-star songs. This is all first try no practice, though.

Also, have you gold-starred any Hard or Expert songs? Easy and Medium are cake to gold-star
Title: Re: LizCam Productions

Someone 5-starring Beast and the Harlot and not Gemini boggles my mind. I'm sure he hasn't 5-starred Misirlou.

I don't play Hard. On Expert I've gold-starred Surrender and Soy Bomb. I don't really try for those though.

Yeah I think Misirlou was one he said he hasn't five-starred yet.
