For those of you who celebrate Christmas, and assuming you get/have a tree, how do you decorate your Christmas tree? Anything else interesting about your tree? How do you decorate anything else in or outside your house? Pictures could be cool, as well, if you guys want.
As for me, we have a traditional/standard-looking plastic tree--about the height of the room.
As for decorations....
-Variety-colored tiny lights. They can flicker if set to be that way.
-Red ribbon tied into bows (do NOT go there, LD! I didn't say gift bows!)
-Candy canes
-Tons of ornaments of all different, unique kinds
-Red beaded garland
-Precious Moments angel at the top
At the base of the tree is a circular red cloth (could be blue now; my mom may have made a new one, but I can't remember, and we're not done decorating, so...). We used to have three "Christmas bears" underneath the tree, but now we have a ceramic/glass nativity which family friends of ours gave us.
We have all kinds of other decorations around the house, which would take forever to tell about, so, um...yeah.
Outside, we used to have plain white bulbs hanging from the roof (boring, but better than nothing), but ever since we've moved, we haven't done that. ;_; We have a wreath on the outside of the front door, and a bow with jingly bells hanging on the inside doorknob. Lately we've hung wreaths outside all the front windows. In the front lawn, we have a simple plastic lit nativity of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus lying in a manger. We used to put white mini-lights around the bushes.
I think that's all for me. I might post a picture(s) later, once we have stuff done.
-
Ha, I was thinking about making a thread just like this! We have garlands, some net lights out in the yard, and most importantly, the tree. They say pictures are worth a thousand words, so I think I'll take advantage of it.
Oh, and I lied about the net lights being up. They're still waiting.
-
I think we're getting a new tree this year. Stupid cat last year...
I'll put pictures. Later.
-
Hmmm. That reminds me of this: http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=7039.0
-
I still have that dodecahedron net.
-
Well, I still have that picture of me at 5 years old, standing by an old Christmas tree, holding up one of my presents. I'll link to it a bit later.
We've had two christmas trees so far. The first Christmas tree we used was very fake, and was given to us by an old relative. The branches came in different pieces and it'd take mom (the only one who cares about decorating the house in Christmas stuff) at least a day to put it together as well as decorate it. She doesn't like colorful lights, but we always told her we liked them more than normal lights. We used to use a ton of decorated glass balls as decorations, but we stopped using them and started putting up crafts mom made on the tree instead. Mom always put an angel on top instead of a star, which I always protested against because I think stars look nicer than the angels she always put up.
We threw away that old tree a few years ago. We now have a pre-lit tree that doesn't take long to decorate. This year there is a large red ribbon hanging down from the top of the tree (No angel, no star). No colorful lights, just white ones with pictures of all of us inside of ornaments.
Outside, we have a mirror ball that's turned on every night, and from inside the house it looks like it's snowing outside. No religious decorations (Sorry, Sapph. :P)
Now, that picture: http://hometown.aol.com/vidgmchtr/myhomepage/5yearoldvid.jpg?mtbrand=AOL_US
-
My tree looks different every year. It's fake or real alternately.
This year's tree:

Edit: I was getting redundant.
-
Who ever said you couldn't fit a family in a tree was wrong .........
(edit) I won't be having a tree up, but we will have dinner and all that good stuff.
-
My sister thinks smelly garlic would be a good ornament. Personally, I think those things with the stuff on them would be good.
-
I just do the regular plus. Garlic, ordinary ornaments, and this year I'll have turtles!!!!!!!!!!! Is this a good turtle? (^.^)
-
Every year, my sister and I would get 1 new ornament to put on the tree, along with all the previous years and red bulbs. Last year, we got the ornaments, but instead of put all the decorations, I helped my father do a really nice job of having red ribbons down the tree, with a few colored lights. Then we have an old ceramic Santa by the base
We don't do much around the rest of the house, except my mother just HAS to put bells on all the doors. It gets really annoying on Christmas Eve. We always have a party for family, and everytime people arrive, there is the obnoxious jangle of 15 large bells banging around.
-
When I first started to scroll down to TEM's pic I thought his house was on fire.
-
I just watched a famous, somewhat old movie called A Christmas Story for the first time. About two-thirds into it, I thought of making a topic called "Let's See Your Tree," where we could post pics of our Christmas trees. Looks like Sapphira basically beat me to it, though. :::P (Might I get an alien smiley for that?)
Assuming I remember, I'll take a picture of our tree sometime after I get home and after we have a tree of which to take a picture.
Speaking of burning houses and trees . . . (http://homepage.mac.com/wyse/tmk/tree-fire_755.wmv)
Note: The linked video shows a fire department test that demonstrates how little time it takes for a burning, indoor tree to consume a room in smoke and flame.
-
Oh, so that's how it works, huh? (I'm referring to the Subject line.) Sorry, slow learner here.
-
This year we got a new tree. It's pre-decorated, but we're stubborn rednecks so we decorated it anyway.
-
Pre-decorated?!
-
Watoad, you just saw A Christmas Story for the frist time?!?!!?!?!? OMG! Isn't that hilarious? I mean the movie and the fact that you've just seen it for the first time and call it an "old movie" when its based in the 40s but was made in the 80s! Hahahahahaha! Just stare at "the" title I have.
-
I haven't seen that movie, either.
And do you even know what "delusional" means?
-
I think it means overused in a wrong way.
-
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delusional:
A delusion is commonly defined as a false belief, and is used in everyday language to describe a belief that is either false, fanciful or derived from deception.
In other words, you don't even know what nostalgia means.
-
A Christmas Story was shot in Cleveland. Good ol' C-Town.
-
My poor tree. It is ever so meager. It looks so terrible. :(
-

Hey, movies from the 80's could be considered old.
-
I can't say it's extremely old, because that was only shortly before I was born, but then again I'm 13, that makes me kind of old.
-
Positively ancient.
-
Nostalgia means from the past or home sick or something. Give me a break. I'm underaged!
-
You know what hapens to underaged members...
-
I put my Mario ornament up that I printed off from one of Luigison's threads last year!
What I usually do is in this order
-Put on the top ornament
-put on the lights
-put on the bought ornaments
-put on the homemade ornaments (The glued bean reef from kindergarten XD)
-last but not least light everything up!
Oh yeah, my family used to use a fake tree, like ever since I was 2, but then we started getting real ones when I was 13.
-
I doubt you can see it, and it's sideways, but here's our tree. I decorated it!
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi25.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc52%2FBirdPerson%2FTree.jpg&hash=1ac459f6bf7de47d53e33d7a096aa5ff)
This one's a lot clearer. It's the tiny school tree in my classroom. There are lights, but they're the blinky kind. Not good for pictures.

-
I love the antenna ball.
-
I've lost so many antenna balls in those car washes. Guess what I got on my tree? Turtles!!!!!!!
-
I honestly would have guessed that you'd say there was nostalgia on your tree this year.
-
Lol. That would be one cluttered tree. What am I even talking about?! I should go to bed already.
Right now we only have several small trees that are decorated (because there's not enough room in the inn... I mean, house) but they still look good. We used to have a big tree we got from the barn and put together all the branches and I used to like that but eventually I started to get sick of how long it took. But decorating it was always fun. The family would string lights around it, golden string, little ornaments, and other things. I don't know if we'll ever get the big tree back some time. Our barn is tore down so now we the tree in the basement.
My favorite tree is the one my grandma has. It's one of those cool silver trees that has a rotating light under it so it changes colors. Anyone else have one of those? They pwn!
Watoad, do you think you could put a warning next to your last link? I think I didst see something that I did not want to see (I did want to see it but... I really shouldn't have). Maybe it's not always that way but you never know.
-
!! ??? Huh? I'm sorry! >_< If you found that video to be unpleasant because you don't like to see someone's house burn down, then don't worry: That video was a test and demonstration by a fire department, not a real case of someone's house burning down. But I'll still stick a disclaimer about what the video contains since you ask.
If you were referring to something else, then please post again to let me know.
-
In Germany, they put real lit candles on their tree.
-
In Soviet Russia, the trees put real lit candels on you.
-
Oh dear.
-
If I can't find a spare can after frying up some bacon, then I pour the liquid fat into my mouth. That way it's better for the environment, and I can use the frying pan again later.

I'm sorry too. I guess that I was taken somewhere else than the original destination. A pop-up was blocked on my computer (this may have been the original linked site) and then I came to a site called Compfused or something that had pictures of girls whose clothes were getting attacked by random gravity. That's the only way I know to say it without offending myself and others.
-
Yeah, the link redirects you, but I was able to find the intended movie.
-
Glad I never clicked it.
-
Oh, dang!! >:( I'm really sorry about that! I was using a friend's PC when I posted the link originally, and it downloaded like normal when I clicked it. But now I see that it's redirecting like you say. What a bummer . . . :-[
Well, if it isn't too late, I've uploaded the video to my own web space and changed the link to match. I'm sorry for the junk you had to go through already. Feel free to click or not to click the new link (it's 100% safe).
-
Clothes getting attacked by random gravity? Now I want to see it!
(Dunno, that just sounds really cool for some reason.)
-
Mom wanted to use gold beaded garland this year... The red garland is zigzagged across the drapes. ::)
The some of the lights strands flicker, so it was hard catching them all on.
In light... (http://kontek.net/starhaven/christmas/xmas05-tree1crop.png)
In darkness... (http://kontek.net/starhaven/christmas/xmas05-tree3.png)
In...flash (http://kontek.net/starhaven/christmas/xmas05-tree2.png)

Random gravity is no laughing matter, LD. It attacks random objects and hurls them in random directions at random times for random reasons. Nothing is safe from it's mysterious and destructive random power. Scientists are studying this force and just now realizing how powerful it is, but also how uncontrollable it is too. It's believed that it may somehow be connected to the power of Blow'dup, but that's just a theory that has yet to hold any value as of this time.
Koopaslaya: Now that's a cool tree! I like when they glow red like that and make the room look warmer.
Sapphira: I'll look at those later, since they're so big and I have to go to church soon. But I'm sure they're cool!
-
I set mine on fire and stare in awe at how cool it looks, then repeat until Christmas ends kupo.
-
kupo?
-
He adds that word in every one of his posts.
-
Maybe I should add turtle. Wait! I know why he does it! He must be an Animal Crossing fan! You know, they say something at the end of their messages.
-
Why does he say "kupo" on all of his posts? Despite the above post, I still don't get it...
-
Read above post of mine.
-
I don't even know what that means.
-
In Final Fantasy, Moogles (also called "Mogs") say "Kupo" at the end of their sentences.
-
Wow, What an interesting conversation kupo. -_-
-
I thought it was Animal Crossing, turtle.
-
It took me until Christmas Day to get you pictures of our tree because it took us until Christmas Eve night to decorate it. XD Merry Christmas!

This is the least decorated tree that we've ever had.

Warp factor 10?! She can't take it, Captain!
(Photographer's note: Of the six pictures posted, the only one altered with image software is the red ornament one—I cropped it.)
-
MY EYES!!!!
Wow those are really cool!!
Is that your tree that you messed around with on the computer?
?
-
What. The. Hecks.
Very cool effect. I would guess, Koopaslaya, that you get up to the lighted tree and move the camera around wildly while taking the picture.
We had Christmas at my sister's ex's house this year.
The tree! (http://www.kontek.net/deezer/xmas2005_1.jpg)
The ham! (http://www.kontek.net/deezer/xmas2005_2.jpg)
The Engrish! (http://www.kontek.net/deezer/xmas2005_lavalampengrish.jpg)
-
Our Christmas tree fell over... :'( Sixteen ornaments broke, including my Mario one!!!
/me runs off crying.
-
Deezer is correct. What you see in those photos is exactly what I got from my camera.
Nice Engrish!
-
Poor Khold...
Watoad and Deezer: I didn' read after the WARP SPEED 10 in Watoad's post, I am still used to the big Sigs, therefore I just skipped it.
-
That's really sad, Khold. X( And a Mario one broke too. X( X( That's like, all I can say, I guess. :(
-
I was gonna get Mom and Dad to let me put home-made Pokemon ornaments all over the tree(complete with a Jirachi/Deoxys tree topper!), but I ran out of time to make them. Our house has 2 trees: the big tree and a littler tree for my room. I put the home-made topper on my tree, plus I got some factory-made Pokemon ornaments and pretty lights that go out if you shake the extension cord.
-
Here's a pic of me, like, pwning the tree. (http://www.kontek.net/LizardDude/Pwning1.JPG)
-
@_@
Oh, and nice goatee.
-
I'm not going to comment on this one...
-
Ahaha! Awesome pics, Watoad!
Deezer's tree looks precariously balanced... The Engrish... XD
:( Khold
WTD, LD x_X ...Is it me, or does he look a lot older, or something?

Accidental shot, but it looks cool (http://kontek.net/starhaven/christmas/xmas05-02.jpg)

...Just having fun with my new camera... ^_^;
-
Deezer's tree looks precariously balanced...
Indeed, it was leaning. BTW, it was my sister's ex's tree. :P
-
Deezer's tree = the tree in the picture Deezer took...er...posted :P
And yeah, that's what it looked like to me.
-
I made "Taste the Rainbow" my background.
-
I tried to do that with my tree, yet the completely white lights made it look awful. So then, I gave up.
-
LD's shirt makes it look like he gained weight or something.
LD's goatee makes me think, "I should grow a goatee."
-
To all the pics of random blurry lights, I say zzzzzzz. Boring.
-
All right. Time for revival, no? Though this topic is of 2005 trees. Was there no posting of trees in 2006?

Click that one for its full size.
-
Darn! I must beg Dad to get the fake tree from the basement so we can set it up next weekend. Hopefully that'll happen, and then I can get pictures.
P.S. There's no click available to click, BirdPerson.
-
Ah, right. I meant, "Right click -> View image."
-
The Astroturf shavings our fake tree is covered in seem to get thinner and thinner each year, so we compensate by adding more ornaments and lights. I predict by 2009 it'll just be a polymer frame with $500 worth of decorations all over it.
-
You know, real trees aren't so expensive (Save Mart sold ours for twenty dollars). They smell really nice and don't have color-coded tabs, either. The only problem with them is that the branches way down at the bottom are pretty flimsy, so everything winds up at the top, as if the angel is sucking them into her dress with a vacuum. Twenty dollars for a tree to wow your family and make your living room smell fantastic is a pretty good deal.
I'm really against those all-white fake trees with blinking ornaments already on them... I refer to them as "Christmas-destroying robot trees." Remember the scene where Charlie Brown infiltrates their base to rescue the hostage?
-
My dad and I got a new artificial tree. We think its pretty enough without decorations. It's white with blue LED lights built in it.
-
All you dudes with your fake trees and store-bought trees are SO cute.
I cut mine down from the forest today. It's probably taller than my house.
-
Paul Bunyan made his fake tree by scooping a large pile of junk out of the ground to make the Grand Canyon. True story.
-
No... Paul Bunyan made the Grand Canyon by dragging his ax behind him as he walked. I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with Christmas trees.
-
Paul Bunyan was an extraterrestrial.
-
My mother has been using the same fake tree since I was just a baby. It's nicely shaped, and more importantly, easy to decorate because it's small. We keep it on a table with a nice red tablecloth.
Now my aunt on the other hand has this gigantic tree with all sorts of fancy decorations, including a winter village at the base made of resin or something.
-
I noticed that underneath my tree are some curiously-shaped packages that seem to be a box the size of a Robosapien one (yesyesyesyes), and something shaped like a, erm, cucumber. *ahem* Yeah.
