Find reading too tedious? Want to find a new way to enjoy a book? Well meet READER ACHIEVEMENTS. With this completely arbitrary list of goals, you may never find yourself sulking at the hands of paper and words ever again!

Uploaded on request by users of #tmk.

....Yeah, I guess that's it. The achievements were made by various #tmk participants, of which I can't remember each individual person. The Achievement's and their scores are not exactly final, so feel free to point out an injustice of points.

EDIT: Updated file.

EDIT2: Added new achievements + Small fixes

When was this made? I sure wasn't around for it.

I like how there's an achievement named after me. :D

Rao, Fifth, Captain Jim, Bird Person, MSM, and I were all involved in this. The whole idea stemmed from something Rao said about not understanding why someone would reread a book, followed by me mentioning rewatching a movie or replaying a game, followed by BP comparing it to a game with no replay value, followed by Fifth saying something about 100%ing a book cover to cover, followed by BP saying you get an Achievement for that.

Ones I came up with:

The Real Wizard (which was a reference to how people draw a connection between Harry Potter and Tim and think one is a ripoff of the other; also, it was only supposed to be ten points)
Off to Never-Neverland
Dream Collector
Fan-F***ing-Tastic
True Fan (easiest to do with Dune or The Lord of the Rings)
Pessimist and Optimist (I imagine the former would be much easier to earn than the latter; these came up shortly after I described Fahrenheit 451 to Rao.)
Clumsy (reason for the purchase part being underlined is so that you can go through all the neat hands-on stuff; it doesn't count if you don't)
Filthy Rag
Waluigi (the connection is left as an exercise to the reader)
Magic: The Story Arcing (suggested immediately after Magic: The Gathering)
Libraries & Lizards (same line of reasoning)
Neckbeard (tangent to that line of reasoning; triggered a discussion of hatred of this type of facial hair)

At one point, Rao asked about if there was one for reading the LotR books, and I suggested a name - High Fantasy - but I guess it got overlooked. A few others didn't make it into this sheet.

Other things of note:

- F-Bomber was originally going to be FUUUUUU--. Also, it'd be incredibly easy to get - just read House of Leaves or Watchmen. This also applies to Filthy Rag.
- MSM put the freaking apostrophes in the plurals when TPBs were mentioned, not me.

The Chef, this was after you went to bed on Tuesday, and went over an hour into Wednesday.

Achievements I contributed:

Reliving Your Childhood
Music Lover
The Wizard of Oz
Detective
Trespassers Will
Brass Potato

I'm sure I threw some more out in #tmk that night, but I guess they got overlooked, or I just have an overactive imagination.
What's your problem, Cambodian?

F-Bomber shouldn't apply to Watchmen; there aren't that many swears, and not one instance of the F-bomb.

Anyhoo, here's a rundown of my achievements unlocked:

Before you Start, Author Authority, Always remember your first, Off to Never-Neverland, TLDR, Conjunction King, Fan-tastic, Grammar Nazi, True Fan, I'm Your Huckleberry, Reliving Your Childhood, Wordthless, Man of God (well, not all of it), Pessimist, On an Adventure, Technophile, Parchment Professional, F-Bomber, Clumsy (those books are ballin'), Filthy Rag (does normal porn count?), Waluigi, Play Time

My suggestions for achievements:

Klatuu Verata Nikto - 100 RP - Read the Necronomicon
Thick-Skulled - 20 RP - Read a how-to book all the way through and manage not to learn anything
Paying is for suckers - 15 RP - Read a magazine cover-to-cover in a store and leave without buying it
Playing is for suckers - 15 RP - Read a strategy guide for a game without playing the game itself

In no particular order:

Watchmen has enough swears to count - it doesn't matter that it doesn't actually say "****," that's just the name. Thick-Skulled would be a serious pain to determine. The first one there is a pretty good idea; the icon needs to be a chainsaw. Filthy Rag requires reading. I have most of the Achievements, personally (lacking Dream Collector, Optimist, Magic: The Story Arcing, Detective, Brass Potato, Man Of God, the dictionary one, and Ye Of Little Faith). Paying/Playing Is For Suckers could be pretty neat (Paying could also be gotten with comics), but you'd lose the latter if you later played the game.

(By the way, I'm pretty sure "Before You Start" is supposed to be for reading a prologue rather than an epilogue.)

Flat Planet - 200 RP - Read every Discworld novel
R'dTFM - 5 RP - Read an instruction manual
Uh-oh... - 10 RP - Read a video game's instruction manual that is longer than 100 pages
Picture Book - 10 RP - Read a graphic novel adaptation of a standard book
Prose In Motion - 10 RP - Watch a cartoon adaptation of a book
Thespian Studies - 10 RP - Read a screenplay

Wow, this is crazy. And looks fun. Clever touch with the "fan" related achievements looking like Sonic's icon. :P

Two suggestions. Not exactly sure about the point values.

Next Please - 20 RP - Read every book in a series (with at least 300 pages each or on average) exactly one book a day for the same amount of days as there are books
Confused Saucy Child - 50 RP - Read one of Shakespeare's plays, without any prior knowledge of the play, and fully comprehend it

The achievements I have are...

Before You Start...
Author Authority
"Seriously..." (not sure about this one, but I might have read over a million pages in all the books I've read in my life)
Always Remember Your First (well, obviously)
Conjunction King
Authentic Author Addition
Fan-tastic
Fan-F***ing-tastic
Wordthless
Man of God (does that mean the whole Bible? If so, I don't have this)
You Snitch! (I once attempted to play Calvinball...)
It's a Magical World
On an Adventure
Parchment Professional
Magic: The Gathering (not entirely sure)
Play Time
We went to see them for the first time in 5 years because they were going away for 3 years.

Reading is for losers. These should be called Reader Failures.
