Author Topic: Piantissimo: What's up with this dude?  (Read 8236 times)

I am intruiged by this character, first of all he desguises his appearance with a (Horrible) Costume, and he can preform all the moves Mario can. He seems to be about as tall as Mario, also.

Which begs the question: Is Mario even human? Are they some sort of subspeicies?

I am also curious about that guy. He's one of the stranger characters in that game. Maybe he's some sort of inside joke by the designers?

(SPOILER) Also, what was up with the end of the game when it shows Piantissimo standing next to the Gadd Science Paintbrush?

I agree... I believe and continue to, that Piantissimo was an inside joke. You can read what some other people have proposed in the Mariology thread. It begins here.

As for the paintbrush scene, it's a cliffhanger. It strikes up interest, and mild amusment.

He's gonna be big, I can feel it. You'll see him in future games.

Mario is human.

Il Piantissimo?  I have my doubts.  Unless there's going to be a sequel to SMS, I don't think we'll be seeing our wannabe pianta in any major role anytime soon.

I agree, there's no way to be absolutely certain that the Mario Bros are human.  Although, I personally believe that both they and Il Piantissimo are.  I seem to remember Il Piantissimo having some sort of obsession with Mario (but I might be mistaken), so perhaps he worked out some way to imitate him.  Magic spell?  Devices in his shoes?  Who knows.

One thing I've noticed is that the Mushroom World seems to be filled with gifted individuals: the Mario Bros, Wario and Waluigi, Koopa the Quick, ect.  Perhaps Il Piantissimo is just another one of these individuals...who just happens to be a little bit nuts.  (easy way out, I know)

Is Piantissimo not the only African-looking human character we've ever seen being associated with the Mario world?

If a tree falls in the woods, do all the others laugh at it?

I know there was at least one african king in SMB3.

Dark skin does not make someone African.

Yeah. What about Aboriginals?

I know he's not african, I just didn't know how else to put it.

I try to be as politically correct as I can.

Italian people can be dark skinned, if they come from the correct part of Italy.
