This may be just begging for trouble, but I have to say Sonic.  When you get down to it, Mario is just a fat old man, whereas Sonic is a fine-tuned athletic machine! (yes mr. coach kline...)

Actually, with the new partnerships between Sega and other companies, we could see Mario and Sonic duke it out later on.

 Heck Sonic wouldnt even have a chance. All Mario would have to do would be to fry him with one fire ball and he'd be a bunch of ashes.

It would be a tie.

Imagine what it would be like if they were to meet in some strange place, still as rivals, and have to work together to accomplish something. It wouldn't be easy since they wouldn't trust each other.
