Which last name best suits mario? I posted this because Mario Mario is kinda a weird name. Who's last name has the same word as the first name?
-
i thought I'd post something since I feel sorry for the guy because no one has posted anything. Anyways I like his name as it is. That is original and should be left the way it is. Changing Mario's last name would be like changing the formula for coke. ^-^
-
Just because no one has posted anything doesn't mean we hate him.
I like Mario Mario. I wish I could figure out Wario's last name, though.
-
I say he HAS no last name (like Eddie and Lou on the Simpsons XD), because "Mario" as his last name sounds ridiculous, regardless of it being true or not. I would've voted "NO last name," but that wasn't an option.
-
Mario Mario. Because someone has a strange last name doesn't change his last name. I'd assume Wario's last name is also Mario. Wario Mario. That's kind of fun to say.
I know someone from my middle school named Mohammed Mohammed. No, I don't know if I spelled it right.
For the person who posted out of pity, keep in mind that the thread was made at 9:30 AM (U.S. Eastern time) on a Saturday. Not many people are going to be awake at that time to reply, especially since it is even eariler in other parts of the country.
-
I read somewhere that Wario and Mario were cousins, meaning Wario could have a number of different last names, but more than likely it was "Wario Wario", but I'm going to have to start thinking about that a little more, but anyways I really don't mind Mario's name being "Mario Mario".

Mohammad is spelled Muhammad. I personally think Mario Mario suits him. It something about him that just is a double Mario thing as strange as it may seem.
-
If it was differnt from Mario Mario they wouldn't be called the Mario Bros. now would they?
-
Well, Mario is sorta the main charicter.
-
Yes, but but take my name "Mason" it wouldn't be right for me to be called a Mason bro. because you can only use last names at the end of call someone like that, you can't call me Brother Mason, but you can use my last name.
-
Mohammad is spelled Muhammad.
I knew I guy named Mohammad. He was in my 3rd grade class.
-
Well, I don't know. The "Mario Bros." is a big indication that Mario is Mario's last name. I always refer to Wario and Waluigi as the "Wario Bros.," meaning Wario is Wario Wario.
-
"Wario Wario?" Wario Bros.? ...my head...
-
I think it's best as Mario Mario because of the deal in the SMB movie:
"What's your name?"
"Mario."
"Last name?"
"Mario."
"What's your full name?"
"Mario Mario."
"OK, what's your name?"
"Luigi."
"Let me guess. Luigi Luigi?"
"No! Luigi Mario!"
Or something like that.
-

Sapphira, you are the most beautiful creature on the face of the earth right now.
-
Sapphira, you are the most beautiful creature on the face of the earth right now.
Huh? Why did you say that?
-
Best as it is. It's not common for a person's surname to be identical to his/her first name, but I think "Mario Mario" fits this Italian plumber.
"Mario Miyamoto" WTD? I understand that it's after the creator, but why would an Italian have a Japanese surname?
Also, think of the humor opportunities with an Austin Powers or James Bond parody with Mario starring as Austin or Bond!
"Name's-a Mario. Mario Mario."
"Let me guess, Luigi Luigi?"
"No. Luigi Mario."
LOL I need to see that part, no matter how bad the movie is!
-
Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, has stated that Mario's surname is indeed Mario. Sapphira is wrong (beauty notwithstanding).
-
Mario Mario. Shigeru Miyamoto even said that he agrees with that, and who knows more about Mario than the guy who created him?
-
... and who knows more about Mario than the guy who created him?
Mario does. We need to ask him.
Huh? Why did you say that?
Because, for a moment, it was true.
-
...
Which last name best suits mario?
Notice the question doesn't ask what is his last name.
"Mario" as his last name sounds ridiculous, regardless of it being true or not.
I just love how everyone keeps misinterpreting what I say and then goes against me, when they don't even correctly perceive what I say. Jeez.
DeadAwake, ahaha, wtd
-
Sapphira ought to go back to her original posts and make them bold, and then quote what she wrote with the bold there first.
I like him without a last name. Giving him a full name is too specific, and hints at a past instead of the present. To be honest, I prefer less information. Like, if you were being held captive by some giant spiky turtle with fire breath, and you're suddenly wisked out of that prison by some random italian plumber, and you're running through the foliage with hundreds of mutant mushrooms and hammer-wielding terrapins in pursuit, would you really stop to ask, "Oh, before you save my life, could you tell me about yourself, it seems so much more important?" Why do you think Peach doesn't marry Mario at the end of the game? Because they've only seen each other for a few seconds. A kiss seems like a very generous thing to give him. If they're making "Mario Parties" and "Mario Golves", they might as well make a "Mario Acquaintance" for the people that think it's so improtant to know every little detail about some fictional character solely placed in the game so the player can has something legible to move around.
And I don't really mean all this, but I do prefer no last name. It ruins the suspense, that's all.

I like the way this man thinks.

But then her post would be edited so people wouldn't know if that was in fact what she originally posted.

Mohammad is spelled Muhammad.
As an Arab, let me inform you that it does not matter how you spell an Arabic/Islamic name with the Latin alphabets, as long as you get the pronounciation right!
Anyways, as for what I believe best suits Mario as his surname, in my opinion, I think I'd go with the official: Mario!
Seriously, fictional characters seem a lot more elaborate when they own a surname! It's make them seem so great!
However, as much as that is my opinion, I'll always go calling the Mushroom Kingdom hero as none other than Super Mario!!

But Muhammad is pronounced "Mu-ham-mad". I'm Muslim, but not arab. meen dooma, ha fatha, meem shudda, daal socoon. Anyways, I've started to agree with Sapphira. Mario just plain sounds better! XD
-
Mario Mario. Shigeru Miyamoto even said that he agrees with that, and who knows more about Mario than the guy who created him?
For once I agree with Vid.
-
But Muhammad is pronounced "Mu-ham-mad". I'm Muslim, but not arab. meen dooma, ha fatha, meem shudda, daal socoon.
Yes. I agree. This is the only way to spell the name correctly: محمد
Sorry, I don't know how to type in nekkudot though...
-
82% of the people who practice Islam are not arab.
-
97% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
-
75% is a pretty good percent
-
For once I agree with Vid.
You've agreed with me plenty of times before.
-
Three out of four people make up 75% of the world.
-
Best statistic ever.
I have yet to vote in the poll.
-

Luigison, that's my new sig.
-
did the whole double name thing come from the movie or somewhere else?
-
..Mario Bros. is where it came from.
-
You've agreed with me plenty of times before.
Yeah, I think you're right. It's just fun to say it that way.
-
I'd say that Mario's last name should be Hero...
...
...
...
Maybe not...
-
"Mario Hero"? What kind of parents torture a kid like that...
-
You mean "What kind of person that started a family named Hero would torture their whole family line like that?"
-
You mean, the teacher would be like "Lei Hero, please report to the principles office!" and the kids would be like "Some hero..."
-
Oh wait, yeah... stupid me.
-
The maker or someone should have an e-mail address, so we could freakin ask him. I think that would be a big help, yes...
-
If Shigeru Miyamoto had his email address on the Internet, he would get FLOODED with questions like that.
-
And stuff like "When will SMRPG be on the GBA?" and "Who are Mario's parents?" And "Where's Twilight Princess?!?!" He'd be spending so much time answering stupid emails that he'd bnever have time to work.
-
Yeah your probably right, just a stupid thought I guess. :)
-
I wonder if Mr. Miyamoto's English is good enough to answer back to his Western fans in the least...
-
Mario Mario. It's what makes Mario unique. Although many people just address him as Mario or SuperMario. Usually I address all of my friends by their first name. (Except for 1 of them because his name is Anthony and there are 2 in my class.)
-
Well I have something to say for Mario Mario. They always say Mario Bros., even when Luigi is there. So that would mean that Luigi's last name is Mario, same as Mario's being Luigi's brother.
-
Mario Mario is and always will be the best.
-
I call him Mario Jumpmen.
-
I only call him Jumpman when I play Donkey Kong on my e Reader.
-
There was also a JUMPMAN that wasn't Mario, and has been having games ever since MARIO was called MARIO.
-
Mario Gallery
-
I think Mario Jumpman is the best choice.
-
Super Mario is a good name.
...Or Mario Toadstool, assuming he had time in between Bowser's kidnappings to marry Peach in the first place.
-
O_o
I thought Mario was a man and Peach was a woman!!!!!!!!
-
Mario Gallery
Not funny. >:(
-
it was not a tragic idea because mario had his start in Game & Watch after D kong.
-
That's the most asinine I've ever heard.
-
okay maybe it is but it does sound funny and brings back memories.
-
I don't think it does either of those.
-
well that's because your only fourteen.not 62 like me.
-
62? I don't believe it.
-
you don't have to believe the truth you just have exept it.
-
I find it hard to believe when you don't ever capitalize the first letters in all of your sentences.
-
Fairemaster must be going senile. :o
-
My grandfather is 74 and he ain't senile.
-
i didn't vote Mario Miyamoto because he's not japaneese he's Italian. We also don't want to disrespect his creator.
-
1. How does that disrespect him?
2. What DID you vote for?
-
He didn't. He just came to this thread to act like a fool.
-
1. How does that disrespect him?
2. What DID you vote for?
because he created mario and it would be an honor to name it after him and i voted for Mario Mario.
-
I hope you realize that I know your secret.
-
Secret? I Have no secret unless your a peeping tom.
-
You're Fairemaster on an alternate account. Admit it or I'll tell the Mods.
-
I'll tell the Mods.
you're threatening me.
-
You deserve it. You broke a very important rule. As if it wasn't bad enough the first time you came here.
-
The Chef:
We have no proof that stairmaster109 is fairemaster on a different account. You can't accuse him of anything until there's proof. You were right.
stairmaster109: If you are truly not fairemaster, then I'm sorry. You've come at a bad time. A member named fairemaster was banned just before you came. Granted, there are several similarities between you and fairemaster, but that won't prove that you and him are the same person. This no longer applies. See below.
If you actually are fairemaster, then go away. You were banned for a reason. Come back when you know what you've done and are able to behave better.
-
He's banned now. He asked me in a PM not to tell anyone about his alt. I said that even if I didn't, the Mods would find out about it anyway. Serves him right.
-
Come back when you know what you've done and are able to behave better.
You crazy? I don't think he'll ever learn his lesson.
-
Why does every one call me another Fairemaster:(?Ask Chef!
-
The Chef posts too much. Don't worry too much about him.
-
:O I do not!! Well....... maybe a little. Sorry about my accusation, coolkid. Although I think your reaction was a bit abrupt, if I do say so myself.
-
Sorry about that, coolkid. Earlier we had some trouble with this guy called Fairemaster. After we banned him, he made another account. Let's just say we banned that alternate account faster than Mario could eat a whole batch of pasta.
-
Ummm, by not having a last name, it helps to sheild wheter or not he is Mushroom or Human. Which is important because it adds depth to the plot and creates mysteries surrounding the Bros. orgins and their relations with Wario and Waluigi. And it's shorter to write.
-
I vote Miyamoto!
-
If they changed his last name from mario it wouldnt be the mario brothers .....
-
NO! NO! No last name! Its find as just "Mario"
-
Wouldn't his last name be Italian, like Mario...Corleone, or something?
-
Is "Mario" not an Italian last name?
-
No, it's an Italian first name. That part's obvious.
-
Why change the name, man? Sure, Mario Mario isn't the most normal of names, but the Mario franchise isn't exactly known for its everyday, ordinary, wow-that's-really-not-original names. Psh, quite frankly, Luigi Mario doesn't sound that bad, either.
-
I think Mario Jumpman is the best choice.
Wow. Someone agrees withe me about calling his last name Jumpman. I pronouce it jump-MEN, not MAN.
-
Nah. I like to think Jumpman as Mario's Brooklyn nickname.
-
Mario should have his first last name
-
Nah. I like to think Jumpman as Mario's Brooklyn nickname.
XD!
I pretty much like Mario Mario, but Mario with no last name sounds fine too.
-
I wonder if he has a middle name. Probably not.
-
What if it was Mario! He would be Mario Mario Mario
-
No it wouldn't! It would be Mario Mario-- oh, I guess you're right.
I just think of him as plain old Mario. Giving him a last name doesn't seem to be important in any of the games. And here's something no one said! How do you like the sound of "Peach Mario"? Or "Mrs. Mario Mario"? No wonder they've never gotten married yet! If I were her, I'd keep my own last name. And is his name ever established as "Mario Mario" in any of the games? I know they did it in the movie, but what about one of the games?
-
Probaly not
-
And here's something no one said! How do you like the sound of "Peach Mario"? Or "Mrs. Mario Mario"? No wonder they've never gotten married yet! If I were her, I'd keep my own last name.
Well, what if they got married and did it the other way around. Mario could be Prince Mario Toadstool.
That pwns. You have to admit it.
-
He wouldn't be Prince Mario. He'd be King Mario and Peach would be queen. Queen Peach Mario... Weird. King Mario Toadstool doesn't sound much better in my opinion...
-
Peach would keep her maiden name for special royal purposes, but she'd still be a Mario.
