Title: Banjo-Kazooie
Post by: PaperLuigi on April 03, 2006, 07:30:30 PM
This topic is sorta like GG's Pokemon topic, instead, I gave tribute to Rare's greatest game, Banjo-Kazooie. I don't know if I'm the only fan here, so I guess I'll find out soon. Have you gotten all the Jigsaw pieces? Musical notes? What was your favorite world? Have you gotten the secret eggs and Ice key, thus unlocking the Stop 'n' Swop menu? (Yes, it's possible, 'cause I've done it.) Have you completed the Bottle Puzzles? Just explain everything right here, or you could come here just to talk about everyone's favorite bear and bird! Keep in mind that this is a Banjo-Kazooie topic, not a flame war over the Mario V.S Banjo-Kazooie thingie.

Finally I find somebody else who like Banjo-Kazooie! I love the two games. I have beaten both completely(notes, jiggies, powers, etc.). I didn't really like Grunty's Revenge(GBA) too much, though. The N64 games were just way to fun!

Although, I must say-- I haven't played a Banjo-Kazooie game in such a long time... The last time was a couple months after Banjo-Tooie came out. I got it on Christmas along with Majora's Mask, and I kept playing it until I beat it three times. Then I gave it to my cousin. I can't figure out why they never made a sequel to such a great game. Grunty said at the end "I'll see you again in Banjo-Threeie!"... But they never made one. I heard rumors, though, about Grunty being just a spirit/ghost/wisp/etc. I think they should make Banjo-Threeie for the Revolution.

Sadly, this won't happen. Rare was sold to Microsoft, so every Rare game (besides Donkey Kong, of course) will be for the........groan.......XBox 360. If BK3 actually makes it there, I will have no choice but to purchase the system. Banjo Kazooie is just too good!

I turned my Banjo-Kazooie disease into "You Know you are playing to much Banjo Kazooie" when........

1. The urge to play more of one of Rare's greatest games, Banjo-Kazooie, just won't go away.

2. You take up a banjo AND a kazooie as your favorite instruments.

3. You actually speak the words "Eekum Bokum and Guh-huh" as if they were used in a conversation.

4. When putting  together a jigsaw puzzle, you time yourself and flip the pieces around.

5. When you put together a jigsaw puzzle, worlds seem to open.......

6. You actually found the green, yellow and blue eggs plus the ice key! (Yes, trust me, it's possible, I've done it!)

7. You unlocked Bottles Revenge.

8. Your names are Ice Mario or Subdrag.

9.You've taken up the job of a Shaman, live in a skull, and chant weird words to transform your friends into animals (or a washing machine)

10. An ugly witch stole you for your good looks.

11. You consult the neighborhood mole for training.

12. You wear tight yellow shorts and a blue backpack, no matter the weather.

13. A really rude bird lives in this backpack.

14. You used to be friends with a monkey and you road race-karts together.

15. Your house is actually much bigger, with multiple worlds and rooms inside.

16. You collect musical notes, but you never actually use them to play with your instrument.

17. Your pet breegull can lift a 400 pound honey bear farther than any airplane could.

18. The locals include a sea hippo, talking camel, magical.......Jinjo, and anything, including inanimate objects, with eyes.

19. Everything around you talks, even the shoes!

20. You opened your lair, let the hero in, had your weak as heck minions fight him, gave him the chance to collect all the moves and items to become stronger, held an easy as heck quiz show, fought him without using your ultimate moves up front, fell off your house and landed under a rock that you could have moved yourself, and then came back 2 years later, nothing but a skeleton.

I heard they were making a Nintendo DS platformer Banjo-Kazooie-style.

I love Banjo Tooie, but I don't have the original. I could beat anyone at all minigames, heh.

You want me to get rid of it? I can if you want.

Anyway, you should get the original. The sequal was awesome, and harder, but the 1st just had that charm.

Yeah, I had it. Lost it, though... I only played a little of Banjo-Tooie as a rental, and it was pretty good. And I did, in fact, get all the Stop 'n' Swop items. But I never knew what they were for... And I still want to know. What were they for? One was in the cave of Shark Food Island (I think that's what it was called), one was in the temple in Gobi's Valley... The key was in... ugh, I can't remember the names!! But it was in the Walrus's cave, past the Jinjo.

Ooh, Sapphira'll be pleased with this thread. :P

Yes, I own Banjo-Kazooie, as well as Banjo-Tooie, and Banjo Pilot. I've gotten 100% in the first game, though I'm one jiggy shy of getting 100% in Tooie.

Ah, Banjo Kazooie. One of my personal favorites. Yes, my brother and I have unlocked the SNS menu, and have been regular visitors at message boards all about SNS. Anyway, I own both Kazooie and Tooie, and I think they are great games.

The key was in... ugh, I can't remember the names!! But it was in the Walrus's cave, past the Jinjo.

It was the Ice Key, in Freezeazy Peak, in Wozza's cave. The code you would have to enter: Now you see a nice ice key which you can have for free.

Hmmmmm......I'm 100 % done in the first one about 3 times over..........and I guess I never really got into Tooie. It was just too different from the first.

Yes, I remember it now... You'd enter the codes in the sandcastle in... Treasure Trove Cove. But if you used too many cheats (I liked using the infinite underwater air because I could never free Clanker), Grunty would threaten to erase the game. Does she really do that?

To the extent of my knowledge, she won't.

Ah, I can barely even remember the games, but I do remember when Gruntilda threatened me with the codes. After I kept putting in cheats(like, 100 or so), it did reset the game.

I've never played Banjo-Tooie, and I only once rented Banjo Kazooie.  I loved it but couldn't beat it.  I think the farthest I got was some world with polluted oily water, and a freakin' impossible boss (I giant box that splits into consecutively smaller boxes...someone out there can probably provide a name).  I was surprised at how hard the game was...the same thing happened with Diddy Kong Racing (I rented it but couldn't beat it).  On an only slightly related note, I WAS able to beat Donkey Kong 64.  I think in a previous topic I claimed that Super Mario 64 was better than Donkey Kong 64, but thinking back now I'd have to change my opinion.  Donkey Kong 64 was fantastic, as were all games I've ever played made by Rare.  But they no longer make games for Nintendo... *sobs*

Oh yeah, I hated that level. I always died by accadently falling into the water. I also fogot what the level is called. It was the habour that had one huge boat in the center. Personally, I think it's harder than the last level.

My favorite Mumbo Jumbo form was the bee!
Title: Re: Banjo-Kazooie
Post by: BP on April 04, 2006, 07:28:43 PM
I remember that boss, he was in Rusty Bucket Bay. I can't think of any name for the box guy...
Yeah, being the bee was the best thing ever. Click Clock Wood was quite possibly my favorite level. Dang... now I want to play it again! Thanks a lot, guys... grumble grumble...

Boss Boom Box was the name. He was pretty easy, but in Grunty's Furnace Fun, he presents a challenge.

My favorite transformation was the walrus. I just like walruses, so naturally........

I haven't heard of Banjo-Kazooie in like 5 years.  It was a pretty cool game, for that time anyway.

Longer than that, man... Last time I saw it advertised was on a Keebler commercial, when the kids on the commercials still believed in elves. They've faded into legend... with only ElFudge as reminders... So long ago.

I used to be able to beat Banjo-Kazooie in under 10 hours with all collectables. I used to be unhealthily obsessed with that game, heh.

My favorite 3D platform game of all time (yes, I'm aware that SM64 exists).

Rusty Bucket Bay = PURE EVIL, especially that one Jiggy in the ship's propellors. x_X

I was never able to 100% complete BK by a few Jiggies and Notes, and in BT I was able to get everything but that blasted Cheato page from Canary Mary's RACE OF EVIL in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

This past fall, I had the desire to play through BK and BT again, and to THIS TIME 100% complete each of them. I would not allow myself to go on to BT until I 100% completed BK first, too. Finally, I DID 100% complete each one! 'Twere two great moments of joy, especially getting the propellor Jiggy in BK and that Cheato page in BK. I nearly fainted with exhaustion and joy with those.

BK and BT are both among of my favorite games, but I have to say I like BT so much more. That one is such pure and utter awesomeness and fun. <3 <3

I also own Grunty's Revenge, but that game was very mediocre--an especial disappointment after the greatness of the N64 hits.

Everyone I've seen who's played BK with any serious always tells me that RBB is such a hard world -- I never had any problems with it except for maybe the pink Jinjo, and I always used to just get EVERYTHING else in the level first and suicide on that one because the camera wouldn't let me swim out of that corridor in time. The propellor is easy when you Talon Trot EVERYWHERE like I used to.

I've found Rusty Bucket to be difficult (and has caused me to stop playing for long periods of time). Though when Sapphira played through B-K and B-T last Autumn, I decided to play through them again myself, getting 100% for the first time in B-K, and coming closer to 100% in B-T than I ever had.

Yeah, but you used cheat codes you didn't earn. ;P
I only used the cheats Cheato unlocked for me after I found him or his pages. Those were earned.

I also Talon Trot everywhere. It's much easier and faster, I find.

I don't consider a 100% run legitimate using cheats, even if Cheato unlocked them.

** SPOILER ALERT**
If you haven't beaten Banjo-Tooie 100%, meaning done ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING POSSIBLE in the game, please don't read this post.

I like how you can turn Kazooie into a dragon because she can breathe fire. Also, she sounds funny when you Talon Trot with the cheat code that makes Banjo and Kazooie run faster. There's other secret stuff that makes me go :D, but I figure that's enough spoilers for one post.

I don't consider a 100% run legitimate using cheats, even if Cheato unlocked them.

The 100% run in B-K was achieved without cheats.

I used to be able to beat Banjo-Kazooie in under 10 hours with all collectables.

Oh, boy, you guys are gonna have a hard time believing me........I did it in 5 hours. I've put about 5 hours on it just running around since then, but after I had collected everything, (including notes and jiggies) and beaten Gruntilda, it read 5.

EDIT: I hate Rusty Bucket Bay, but I did manage to beat it fairly easy. (20 minutes or so)
Title: Re: Banjo-Kazooie
Post by: Insane Steve on April 08, 2006, 08:49:24 AM
Wow. That's impressive, actually. I think I had 10 minutes on the first world... RBB takes me about 30. However, as I said, it never gave me any serious problems and I can get the propellor Jiggy about 80% of the time I try for it. I quite like the level -- both its music and overall design.

I actually found that FINDING Rusty Bucket Bay was more of a challenge than most of the things you have to get in it.

Maybe, but since they still let Rare do stuff on GBA like DKC ports, maybe they'll get stuff on Revolution, too.

Whatever it'll be like, it'll most likely be on the Xbox 360. The Banjo-Kazooie series is still owned by Rare.

I can't really see a Banjo game selling on the same shelf as a bunch of XBox games. Microsoft just DOESN'T sell games like that. So unless the next one is Banjo and Kazooie in Dark, Barren Batlefields Surrounded by Exploding Barrels, we'll be saying farewell to the bear.

Guys, Nintendo didn't WANT Rare anymore. It's not like Microsoft stole Rare away from Nintendo. Nintendo thought they weren't doing as well as they were in their SNES/N64 days and with a lot of key staff such as Ken Lobb leaving the company Nintendo just said "ehh" and allowed Microsoft to purchase it.

And just look at Rare now. The three games they created for the Xbox consoles were Grabbed by the Ghoulies (a flop), Conker: Live and Reloaded (a remake as well as a flop), and Perfect Dark Zero (also currently not doing very well).

So, stop moping about Nintendo losing Rare, because it was doomed to happen some time anyway.

Mabey Banjo Kazooie can turn Rare around. Rare might be having a tough time (believe me, I've played the games Vid talked about and they all were complete crap) but I've noticed many fans on other sites really want this new Banjo game. Hey, just thinking positive here.

Banjo-Kazooie is probably one of the best series out there. It will be interesting to see what Banjo-Kazooie 3/Banjo-Treeie will be like on the Xbox 360. Hopefully, it'll make up for Conker: Live & Reloaded. I mean, the game had beautiful graphics and all, but the fact that the single player was watered down and the awesome multiplayer from the N64 version was replaced with an all new, piece of crap one made me grind my teeth. Chris Seavor obviously forgot what made the N64 version so great. Thank god he doesn't work on the Banjo games.
