Is this like the Y2K scare? I'll be at Costco stocking up on toilet paper.

I've read through all of the NES Mario sections and there's a bunch of cool tricks and hidden things that aren't listed, plus some of the games have absolutely no playing info. to them besides the date the game came out, etc. What do you plan on doing about it! But really, can we submit ideas to the mods or anything to expand the sections?

Game Help / Super Mario Bros. 1 points
« on: March 28, 2008, 07:04:00 PM »
What's the purpose of keeping points? I know when you finish the game it shows you your total and I know good ways to score points but seriously what do you use them for? In other games, video and otherwise, points = rewards but in Mario 1 is it just a record of how thorough you played the game?

5. June Challenge: From June 1st to July 1st, one member and I must brainstorm and post a topic that gets at least 120 replies or 1600 views within a month. We only get 2 chances to make a topic, and one of them must make it to 120 replies by the end of the month. This is the 2nd of the 3 most difficult challenges.

Easy. Make a topic about seXXX.

Game Help / General NES help
« on: March 28, 2008, 03:56:36 PM »
I have a few games that don't work. The system works, the games don't seem to be missing any contacts or have any loose parts rattling inside. I cleaned them but to no avail. I tried different ways of putting the games in. I gently coaxed and pleaded with the nintendo gods. I tried 'restart' at every possible interval you can have a game after you insert it. The screen flashes different colors like lime green or blue for instance and at some point a flicker of a messed up picture comes up and/ or a half note of music that repeats with each flicker. That's the best I can get it. Does anyone know

-if maybe the system does have something to do with it
-what causes these games to not work
-what if anything I can do to fix it

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. That is pretty pointless. I'd rather have a frog that'll pobably get you killed jumping on land.

Game Help / The anchor in Super Mario Bros. 3
« on: March 23, 2008, 07:09:59 PM »
When you collect a certain amount of coins in each level the mushroom house appears. I don't know what the anchor in the even levels does. I've used it and nothing happened, I came back to the spot later and explored and for the life of me I have no clue what it's good for. I'm guessing that if you get a game over then you can start at where you used the anchor but never tested this theory..if you've getting the mushroom houes you probably wouldn't need that sort of help anyways right? So what does it do?

After browing a few thousand games on ebay (I'm pretty sure I have an essay to write) I found one called Destiny of an Emperor which looked really close, and then found the one I was searching for which is..

ta, da da da!

Dragon Power.

:-)

Recommended to all..

and thanks for everyone's help.

It's something extremely close to Nazo no Murasame-jō and Hydlide in the setting but neither one. Is there some other games that look a lot like these two? Thanks for your help by the way. I'm going to check these two out anyway b/c they look pretty good :-)
