I thought it was worthy of roman numeral, actually. : )

Mario Chat / So...Uh...Baby Waluigi?
« on: January 21, 2012, 02:15:14 AM »
I don't remember playing a game with him in it. I often see him brought up as a joke character for potential roster-stuffing on various message boards. (Okay; just on Game FAQs.) So I'm a little perplexed at how and why I found a plushie of him.

Is this counterfeit or something?

Well, I like what he has to say about game design and philosophy -- but I find his personality insufferable.  I don't want to read his personal blog or his diary. Everything he writes assumes I'm as interested in him as I am in the subject at hand and I can't deal with that kind of self absorbtion.

I'm not a fan of Tim Roger's writings...It bleeds of self importance, egotism, and is inefficient in his use of words. He could have taken out the paragraph about getting Mario 3, and all of the story about his girlfriend in Tokyo not liking the game, and replaced it with a paragraph on why Mario Galaxy failed his expectations and a paragraph explaining how Mario 3's level design relates to Mario land. But no -- he had to write about himself before he could write about anything else.

Anyways, that aside, I love Mario Land 3DS. It's one of those games that's brimming with fun in every level. You'd think that every video game would be "fun", but some are merely engaging, or entertaining. But Mario Land is fun all of the way through. The only "chore" or fetch quest the game has is finding all of the Star coins but that doesn't feel too chorish; it's fun to play through the levels again. I was also impressed that it didn't feel like a sequel to me, even though it was 'just' another game in the series -- it felt fresh.

Not at the Dinner Table / ~ Big Personal Announcement! ~

I realized that I was transgendered about nine months after joining this site, although I was already starting to feel some confusing things I couldn't quite understand back then. It can be a difficult thing to wrap your head around -- especially for the person experiencing it! But since 2001 I've known that my "self", or my spirit, is female in nature. My parents were not supportive of this, although I told them early on, and the town I lived in was a small Mid-West one that wasn't a good environment for that sort of thing. I ended up becoming uber-self repressed as a result.

I started dealing with it finally in college, and getting some help from a counselor...And wow, when I say I was self-repressed, we're talking a bunker a million miles underground repressed. But after I graduated college ('09) I started living life as female. I started dressing in feminine clothes and taking female hormones. I haven't been mistaken as a guy in public for over a year now so I guess they've done their job pretty well. (My voice was always really feminine -- I was always being taken as a female on the phone.)  I'm way happier since going through with this. No regrets. : )  I would eventually like to get SRS (Sexual reassignment surgery -- "The operation") but it's way expensive and I won't be able to afford it for some time...and even then there's like a year's waiting list.

I suppose this could have gone in general chat, but it's personal, and I know Mario attracts users of all ages, and this might bring up more mature subjects, so I thought I'd post it here. I also realize there's a 19-page post on homosexuality and that this  could be taken as controversial. Whatever. I've grown strong enough to weather criticism. Also, I made a vow to stay with the board 'til it goes down, and I don't want to spend another twenty years being referred to as "he" and "him". : P

So, in summary: Please use the feminine pronouns when refering to Chocobo. : )

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Kart 3DS Casting Call!
« on: January 09, 2012, 04:26:28 PM »
I invented a back story for Red-shell Lakitu in my head...

In my mind he's Green-shell Lakitu's younger brother who has been racing in small town dirt tracks in the Mushroom Kingdom. He's a so-so racer and is mostly gaining traction in his career through being related to the green shelled Lakitu, who besides being the Ref of Mario Kart races, has also become a celebrity in their world. I also see him as the Luigi of the brothers...

He's also top on the list of "most likely to be cut" for next season (Mario Kart title). If that does happen I imagine he'll meekly go back to his little dirt tracks and leagues.

Did I over think it? Maybe. : P

I kind of wish Kamek/Magikoopa would have been a secret character in this. You know...To make up for getting the boot from Mario Kart 64 back in the day.

One of the last papers I wrote as an undergraduate in college was about Birdo; It was a class on transgendered and inter-sex matters regarding literature and media.

At first I was hoping this was an Animaniacs related thread -- like maybe they tried to let them out again but a riot of people made them stop.

Mario Chat / I've had a Revelation: The Mother of Bowser's Children
« on: May 14, 2009, 11:08:13 PM »
Birdo.

Birdo and Bowser had a brief relationship prior to the beginning of Super Mario Brothers one. Her main power is spitting out eggs...So she spit out the eggs of Bowser's first seven children. However, things were not to be and Birdo and Bowser split up on bad terms. In between Super Mario Brothers 1 and 3 these children then hatched and grew up enough to be toddlers. It was during this time that Bowser realized his one true love on the planet is Princes Toadstool and he focused all of his attention on her. Birdo, on the other hand, fell into despair, and end up staying in the world of Sub-Con for a period of time.

The lives of Birdo and Bowser would not intersect again until the time frame of Mario Tennis 64. Birdo had returned to the Mushroom Kingdom and was once again playing the singles game -- as in, dating. (But also tennis.)  When Bowser saw how well she was getting on with Yoshi old feelings bubbled up to the surface and he was filled with jealousy. He made romantic overtures towards Birdo once more and they spent a week-end together. At the end of the week-end, however, it was once again apparent that they were not meant to be, and Birdo left. A few months later Birdo called Bowser and said she was pregnant.

So Bowser was left with another Koopaling egg. Inbetween Mario Tennis and Super Mario Sunshine this egg would hatch into Bowser Jr. After seeing what lazy bums his first children were he decided to take Bowser Jr. under his wing and teach him the ways of tyranny. Eventually Bowser Jr. asked Bowser who his mother was. Embarrassed about his romance with Birdo, he instead told Bowser. Jr. that his mother was the princess. Birdo is still seeing Yoshi off and on.

That leads us to today. Any questions?

Mario Chat / Re: Best size for Bowser?
« on: October 12, 2008, 01:14:12 PM »
I voted for "A lot bigger than Mario." I guess the best way I can verbalize my idea of his ideal height would be to say that if Mario was a normal sized human, I'd want Bowser to be at least a foot and a half taller, maybe two, depending on how slouched over he is. Enough to really let him loom over Mario. I am okay, however, with letting Bowser use a transformation spell on himself for the sake of boss battles.
