Granted, it's one site's opinion, but what do you think? To put it broadly, I think some are missing and some that aren't should be.

OK, so you should play SMW, SMG, and even MKDS, but not SM64 and SMB? Ludicrous is the only word for this.  Pac-Man CE, however, I agree is only barely unqualified enough to not be included on the list.

Pac-Man Championship Edition must be really good if it's better than SPAC3 INVADERS EXTR3ME (which I hear is coming to XBLA soon, so those of you with 360s will be able to play it in glorious 1080i).

Where's StarCraft?

Seriously? They chose Final Fantasy X? ...
And no, I'm not pushing for VII.
Anyway, I find this list to contain almost none of the games I consider "essential". Waayy too many American games and uninteresting games that look like everything else.
That was a joke.

Final Fantasy VI is the best in the series anyway, at least in my opinion. This list had a few games that I would consider essential, however there are a lot of new games that really don't seem all that long standing. There's a difference between a very good game and a game that you must play. A game that someone must play has to be at least somewhat appealing to everyone--since it's regarded as a must-play for everyone--so I don't understand why there are so many sequels on that list. While I may not have played it, Metal Gear Solid 4 really doesn't seem as much as a "must play" when compared to the first game in the series. Also, Super Mario Galaxy is more of a "must play" than SM64?

Just a few random, less justified gripes include Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare but no Halo? How does that happen? Did a twelve year old who got a 360 last Christmas write this list? Also, no Chrono Trigger? And, lastly Mario Kart: DS? There are so many better unrealistic racing games than this that it's not even funny. And they were debating whether or not to include MKDS or Burnout Paradise. That's just hilarious.

Most of those games on that list are either:

1. Good, but not great.
2.  Boring games that are overrated to the extreme.
3.  Just there because of Nostalgia.

You don't have to play any sort of game before you die, this seems like a "The best games ever" list in disguise.
Victory... is my destiny!

That's why top game lists are never accurate; if your list doesn't have SMB, Zelda and SM64, it's attacked by everyone on the internet.

This list is my opinion and shouldn't spark debate. If you say "Your list is flawed because you forgot to include such and such," chances are I'm going to respond with "I don't care, make your own list if you feel that way." Props to anyone who asks that question word for word.

1. Super Mario Galaxy (Wonderful platformer and the true sequel to SM64)
2. Metal Gear Solid 2 (I used to do speedruns on this game...twas awesome)
3. Metal Gear Solid 3 (sneaking around, not getting caught, and shooting bad guys is the stuff of legends)
4. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Not my favorite Metal Gear but still an amazing game)
5. Mega Man 2 (presented the fun, riveting idea of playing extreme rock-paper-scissors)
6. Super Smash Brothers Brawl (best multiplayer fighter)
7. Super Mario Brothers (not much to say, just a wonderful game)
8. Sonic the Hedgehog (not much to say here either, just an awesome platformer)
9. Wario Ware: Mega Microgames (crazy fun at a super fast pace)
10. Diddy Kong Racing (not really innovative but fun nonetheless, some argue it's better than Mario Kart)
11. Legend of Zelda (same as SMB and Sonic)
12. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (greatest game ever in the eyes of many)
13. Halo 3 (best online game in my opinion)
14. Super Mario Kart (best Mario spin-off title)
15. Mario Kart 64 (sequel to the best Mario spin-off title and my first game)
16. Paper Mario: TTYD (great RPG and riveting story line)
17. Donkey Kong Country (great 2-player adventure)
18. Star Fox 64 (finest rail shooter out there)
19. Star Fox 2 (get the ROM fellas, it's a great game)
20. The Sims 2 (it's fun to play God sometimes)
21. Mother 2 (amazing RPG, very challenging and has a great story)
22. Mega Man: Network Transmission (very challenging, actually)
23. Donkey Kong 64 (A huge and insanely fun game)
24. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (getting all the masks is hella fun and a good challenge)
25. Star Fox Adventures (sue me)
26. Banjo Tooie (same with DK64)
27. Kirby Super Star (like Donkey Kong Country, it presented an amazing two player experience)
28. F-Zero GX (highly underrated and overlooked racing game)
29. Viewtiful Joe (innovative and super fun)

30. Last and probably my favorite game ever...Banjo Kazooie. This game truly has everything a great game should have and still entertains me to this day.

Why don't we make our own?
Personally I think it's a bad idea because I'm not going to read any posts that have big giant boring lists.
