I need help with installing Portal maps. I tries to install the map "Portal Playground v1". Google it if you're unfamilar with this map. The .zip contained 3 files, a .bsp, a .bns, and a .tga. Upon opening the .tga, QuickTime poped up showing that the .tga must have been the icon in the bonus map section. I put everything in the C:Program Files/Steam/bobbysq(friend me!)/portal/portal/maps directory and it half worked. The map shows up, but can't be opened unless through the console. Is this my problem, or is it the mapper's?

I don't think Portal is as mod-friendly as some of the other Source games (eg: CSS, TF2, L4D). From my experience, opening it from the console is the only way to go. It's more Valve's problem than yours or the mapper's.
If my son could decimate Lego cities with his genitals, I'd be [darn] proud.
