Title: What actually happens when you beat Luigi's Mansion?
Post by: Glitchy on December 31, 2008, 05:50:41 PM
By beat, I mean complete the game with all gold paintings. I've heard many things but I actually never found out.

Note: I wasn't really sure what section this goes on so bare with me.

You get the best mansion.

The mansion at the end doesn't really have anything to do with portrait frames, just the money you collected. I've achieved the A ranking mansion and don't have all the gold frames.

You can go see the paintings, but I guess you know that. Other than that I don't really know.

I actually didn't even know about, or rather never saw anybody go to, the gallery until a few months ago.

I had no idea that you could get gold frames.  How do you get them?

Suck up a Portrait Ghost in one effort (the more Large Pearls, the better).

Actually, they only drop one large pearl and it's when you take off 90HP in one go.

I heard it shows the credits.

Just something someone told me.

WARNING: Ending Spoilers. Read only if you really really really really really really really really really really... really really really really really really really really really want to know.

You get a mansion portrait depending on how much money you collected but the hidden mansion you get after completing the game is just a mirrored version of the original... oh wait the PAL version is mirrored due to their complaints at Nintendo for laziness.

I thought Hidden Mansion was somehow improved with different stuff rather than the ultra-minor changes the USA version got.

It was basically Hard Mode for us in the U.S. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it is better than nothing. Mario games should have difficulty settings to really achieve the "suitable for any player" policy... though, you shouldn't have to unlock them.

That being said, I don't usually play though the Hidden Mansion because when I replay LM, I'm just there for the ride. I'd love to play through it in the PAL version...

I agree and it's the same way for Super Mario Land and Super Bros. I want the PAL version also.

What is the differance between the regular mansion and the hidden mansion?
I've never been able to figure that out.

In the case of the American version, ghosts are faster and Luigi takes more damage, but the Poltergust has more suction power. It's good for getting gold frames.

Just out of curiosity, is Mario actually permanently rescued upon defeating King Boo, or does Luigi's Mansion follow the all-too-common route of sending you back to the title screen after the credits without offering a chance to save, and therefore barring the player from actually "beating" the game?

You save after beating King Boo then you start another game in the same slot.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about what happens when you get all gold frames on every portrait ghost, and beat the game.

I think it's the same thing but I've never done it so I wouldn't know.

You find out Bowser is really King Boo. If you collet all Boos, deafeat every boss and enimes, get a lot of money, etc, you will see the mansion is yours. There might be a squeal to Luigi's Mansion for Wii or upcoming consle Wii 2 or japan is Us.

If there is a Luigi's Mansion 2 I will weep glorious tears of joy. ;u; <3

I'm so aggrivated at myself. I wanted to play the game SO BADLY last night. So I took back my GCN controller from my neighbor (she was borrowing it for kart) and plugged it in to find....I sold Luigi's Mansion.

..I'll probably end up buying it AGAIN lmao.
