Title: Diamond/Pearl Pokedex Map Question

What exactly does it mean when a flashing area on the Pokedex map (indicating where a Pokemon is) is red? I think it has to do with Pokemon that are found in trees, but... got an idea?

Your hunch is right. The orange/red flashing symbols indicate that a Pokemon will only appear if you slather honey on a tree, use sweet scent, etc.

The Pokemon games are notorius for not explaining things like that...
