Is there any particular significance behind eggplants in (Nintendo) videogames? There's those eggplant guys in Kid Icarus, eggplant enemies in Wrecking Crew, the eggplant you catch in Ice Climbers, and, of course, "Kid Eggplant" in Chibi-Robo. Are these all just one big cameo reference to when the purple foodstuff first appeared in an NES game? Are eggplants popular eatin' in Japan? I suppose I could just look all this nonsense up, but I figured I'd like to hear what you thought about the whole thing.

Obviously, it's because the Freemasons control the video game industry.
-
I really didn't think much of the coincidence. When you think about it, eggplants are a pretty weird crop, I don't think they're very appetizing, but then again I've never tried one.
And Glorb still fails to make me laugh.

It's so nice of you to point that out. Been taking lessons from Chupperson?
-
Ooh, burn.

Eggplant Parmesan is the greatest food on the planet.

Some things are considered inherently funny, as to what, depends on the culture.
Like Rubber Chickens used to be "inherently funny" here in the west.

Maybe the people that make the games just really love eggplants and want to share that love with the world!
Why is it called an eggplant, I get the plant part but why egg?
-
Ever get a good look at the insides of one? Eggish, I've been told.
-
Well you've been told wrong. It's because the ones common in North America at the time they were named were colored and shaped like eggs.
-
You mean off-white and round? Well, how'd they wind up oblong-purple? Different breed?
-
Maybe they weren't ripe.

You're on the internet. How hard is it to look up information like this?

I like to belive that back when the NES was out they made alot of diffrent games so they could see which ones had the best sales and cept Ledgen of Zelda and Metroid but left Kid Icarus and Ice Climber out becuase of the not as high sales. Which later have had refrences just to show they still remember thoughs games. (I dident include Super Mario Bros becuase Mario was already thier mascot no mader what happend)
Oh yes and you know when your bord out of your mind when you fight about eggplants.
-
Ledgen
Uh...huh...
On topic, let's not forget about the Whiskered Eggplant in Mario Superstar Baseball...

I considered that, but I figured that since I'm currently a member of an online social community, I might as well communicate socially.
But, yes, I did do a little looking around, and I haven't had any luck yet. There's the Japanese eggplant, so that's probably all there is to it...
