Last year, I played through the five games of the WarioWare series and I quickly became a fan of it. I also like the characters that were introduced with the series, especially Mona, 9-Volt and Ashley (and Red), but also the other ones. Sadly, these characters had practically not any role in other games so far (except for Brawl, of course).
I would like to see that at least some characters of the WarioWare crew appear in future Mario sports and party games as playable characters. After all, Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong from the DK series also made it, and Diamond City already appeared as a track in Mario Kart Arcade GP.
What do you think? Should the WarioWare characters also appear in Mario games or don't they belong there?
Happy Easter to all! :-)
P.S. Yes, I know that the Wario games can be understood as part of the Mario series, too, but I speak about games that include Mario's name in the title, like Mario Party, Mario Kart and so on.
-
Well, I'm pretty sure Wario's motorcycle from WarioWare is appearing in Mario Kart Wii, but, it doesn't really phase me. However, I will get mad if they replace his overalls.

The motorcycle doesn't phase me, too, since it isn't a character. ;-) By the way, I've added a poll to the topic.
-
Same here. It's a pretty good idea.
-
I don't think Wario Ware characters belong in Mario at all. They look different and act totally different from characters like Yoshi, Luigi and Peach. Wario Ware Wario doesn't belong in a Mario game either. I pray that they don't integrate Wario Ware Wario into Mario games, because then he'll stop wearing his overalls. That may not matter to some, but to a guy that grew up playing the Wario Land games, the overalls make all the difference. Sorry, but his Wario Ware outfit sucks.

I know Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/sml3) isn't a "WarioWare" game, but it fits in the Wario and Mario universe and has both characters in the title. Wario might not be wearing his Warioware outfit, but he is still Wario.
Mario appears in all WarioWare games and WarioWare appears in Mario games like SSBB. Would you take the Mario microgames out of WarioWare or the WarioWare level, characters, stickers, trophies, and Subspace appearances out of SSBB?
I think a WarioWare track with microgame effects in Mario Kart would be cool.
-
I wouldn't mind if Diamond City was made into a track for Mario Kart, but that's it. I'm not really interested in mini games, so I'm not very familiar with WarioWare or its characters. I don't care if the WarioWare characters join the roster in spinoffs. The only Mario spinoff series I care about is Mario Kart, and I'm sticking with Yoshi as my main.
-
As cameos, yes.
-
Sorry, but his Wario Ware outfit sucks.
I hate the overalls. They're why Waluigi still isn't cool. He's still in the stage of his mid-life crisis when he thinks, "If I look like an evil version of a hero, I'll be popular with the kids!" Wario's moved on. There's no personality in the overalls, and that's okay--you don't even need a soul to play Mario Party. The WarioWare outfit works for an insane man obsessed with money. So when distinguishing between the two, I call one "Overalls Wario" and the other "The Only Good Wario." I'm glad I don't have to push any buttons to get to The Only Good Wario after selecting him in Brawl.

On the subject of WarioWare characters, they don't belong in Mario games.
-
WarioWare is the only reason Wario is good at all. Well, that and maybe VB Wario Land. WarioWare characters and settings do not work within the Mario framework. Although, I wouldn't mind WarioWare stuff in a game like Mario Kart, I suppose.
-
Mini games are just not doing it for me, and neither is Wario's biker outfit. I'd like to see him set off on another treasure hunt in his classic attire.
Wario World 2: The Search for More Money.

Hey, that's fine, I respect that. But I think Wario had plenty of personality before he changed outfits. Clothing really doesn't define a person's personality anyway. Wario acted greedy and power hungry years before he put the Ware clothing on, and because I was extremely used to the overalls (due to the fact that I actually played and loved Wario Land) I hate the Ware outfit. It's too fruity/flamboyant for Wario in my opinion. For me, pushing a few buttons to get to what I call "The Only Good Wario" is worth it.

He doesn't wear his Greek fisherman hat for most of that game, either!

Well, play a WarioWare game and see if you like microgames. They're a lot more fun than minigames.

Not to be off topic but am I supposed to be seeing half-opened eyeballs in his goggles? And what is that on his belt?
-
I think (I hope) the half-open eyes are intentional.
-
I'm pretty sure those goggles wouldn't fit anyway, so why not make them even more useless?
I don't remember enough from WarioWare cutscenes to know whether or not he ever uses them.
-

Though I like the WarioWare series very much, I have to agree that it's very sad that the Wario platformers became rare since WarioWare. I wish for Wario Land 5. Master of Disguise is good, but not as good as the Wario Land series.

Indeed, as far as I know, he never uses his goggles in the games. The same goes for Mona and Spitz. By contrast, 9-Volt never removes his helmet including the goggles...
-
This'd be just like asking if characters from Donkey Kong Country belong in the Mario series.
They're fine, but only work best in games like Brawl when put together. I wouldn't mind seeing a WarioWare character besides Wario in another Smash Bros. game
-
.. Master of Disguise is good...
NOT!
-
No. Heck no. It just doesn't seem right, they're... apparently, I don't believe the Wario franchise is part of the Mario franchise. I STILL don't believe Waluigi should be considered part of the Mario franchise.
But if they did appear, I'd like to see Dribble and Spitz. Characters I liked most from the first game. Also liked 9-Volt and the afro disco guy, but I could live without them. Never played any of the other Warioware games.
For some reason, I always thought Wario looked his best in the Greek fisherman hat. Made him look like he was on safari. Since I hadn't completed Super Mario Land 2 by the time I saw Wario Land, I just assumed Wario was always supposed to look like that.
-
I see no reason why Warioware characters can't be welcomed in Mario spin off games. I'd love to have a game where both DKC elements and WW elements are included in Mario themed events.
-
SSBB?
-
This'd be just like asking if characters from Donkey Kong Country belong in the Mario series.
The difference is that characters from Donkey Kong Country (Diddy, Dixie, and the Kremlings) already made it into the Mario series.

QFT, all the way. Wario Ware is the reason they never made Wario Land 5.
-
I like both versions of Wario, and I wouldn't mind if characters from both series made appearnces in the opposite series (kind of like how Wario is in his 'Ware outfit in Brawl, but at the heart is still the Wario that I've come to know and.. love.. or hate.. or..)
As long as it's done tastefully, and not in a way that would harm the reputation of both franchises (9Volt replaces Toad, and Pyoro is helping Mario rescue Yoshi! Egads!!)
On a side note: If Nintendo ever wanted to do a remake of Wario's Woods, the Wario Ware characters would fit nera perfectly into that. Just keep Toad as the hero..
Also, what does QFT mean?
-
Also, what does QFT mean?
it's short for, "Quoted for Truth"
-
Wario Ware is the reason they never made Wario Land 5.
Wario Land 5 would've been awesome. Sadly, we got Master of Disguise instead.
I'm not saying the Wario Ware games are bad, because they're not. I just really hate his outfit. Pink jeans with an extremely tight blue shirt screams "too flamboyant," especially for Wario.
I still think the Wario Land games were the best Wario games ever. To anyone who has never played a Wario Land game, pick one up at a Game Stop or something. You're missing out if you've only played Wario Ware.
-
And I will be the first in this thread to totally disagree because I can barely scrape together any fun in Wario Land games at all.
-
I liked Wario Land 3 well enough, but it seemed like a game that should have come out before Wario Land 2.
-
And I will be the first in this thread to totally disagree because I can barely scrape together any fun in Wario Land games at all.
Well, how long have you played them? Seriously, most everyone else found them fun. You're just one of the select few that didn't like them I suppose.
-
Oh, I like to think I gave at least Wario Land a decent choice. A couple worlds' worth, at least.
-
Wario looks like a gay stripper in his WarioWare getup.
Don't get me wrong, WarioWare games are awesome, but I like his classic outfit better.
-
A gay fat guy?
Those don't exist.
-Lizard Dude
-
*ahem*
There's one standing right behind you. Jerk.
-
Way to be a Max Vance.
Joke killer.
-Lizard Dude
-
It's fair game if the joke isn't funny.
-
You know... I wonder what people would say if they made a Wario Land-style platformer that featured Wario in his 'Ware garb. I mean, he can be seen wearing his overalls in certain parts of WarioWare, right?
-
All this talk about Wario makes me want to light him on fire or squish him into a pancake. But sadly Wario dosent do that anymore. Nintendo tryed to mix WarioWare with Wario Land but we got the horrible game Wario Master of Disguise.
-
Er, I really doubt MOD had anything to do with Wario Ware.
-
I wanna change my vote!
-
Is it really that big a deal? The actual discussion is more important than the poll in my opinion.
-
NOT!
I was thinking ofMaster of Illusion for a second there(and still agreed)...
Wario looks like a gay stripper in his WarioWare getup.
Don't get me wrong, WarioWare games are awesome, but I like his classic outfit better.
Well, if you remember the beginning of Mega Microgame$ (been playing it frequently on vacation), he's in his traditional garb before he sets out on his motorcycle.
-
Yes that is true.
Regardless of how gay his outfit is, WarioWare is a great game.
-
WarioWare is awesome. The characters are kind of annoying and the cutscenes feel way too much like an anime to be enjoyed (depending on your taste in anime, this may or may not be a good thing) but the games are very fun and challenging. It's probably the only game I'd play on a long car trip.
-
Er, I really doubt MOD had anything to do with Wario Ware.
Then why are you constantly playing little Mini game things whenever you open a chest?
-
Because Suzak was trying to make a touch screen gimmick. Have you ever played WarioWare? The microgames don't seem too similar to the chest things in MOD to me.
-
I hope that's in right place here: I've recently read in Wikipedia that Pyoro (the roundly bird) is a direct parody of Kyoro-chan, a mascot for a Morinaga chocolate brand in Japan. Both Pyoro's name and appearance are a parody of this character, which couldn't be more obvious. Watch this opening of the Kyoro-chan anime series, then you'll understand:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPXi0A6vZlw
OMG! I didn't except that...
Some people here surely already knew this, but according to the Google hits, this fact seems to be quite unknown outside of Japan.
-
Wow, that's quite a find. Sounds like we need a trivia beat on this.
...or is that what we have the Wiki block for?
