Title: Super Mario's Wacky World
Post by: missingno on April 16, 2008, 11:16:27 AM
Here's a bunch of videos I found of levels of a canceled CD-i Mario game known as Super Mario's Wacky World. I didn't see any info on it on TMK, so I figured I'd share this discovery. Naturally, most of you will realize at the point where I had said "CD-i", that the game is pretty bad, and the levels are really bad, you can't die basically. It's basically if Super Mario World was remade with poor watered down levels, but then again that's probably why it was canceled. These are all the levels I found.

We already have a thread about this.  And I think some of us already know about this game.
It was only 30% done when the project was shelved. I think it was canceled due to technical limitations.  I personally believe that it might have been a decent game.
Mario can't die in those footages because the game was in the alpha stage.  The dieing mechanics are omitted or not yet applied during this stage for testing

Oh I wasn't sure, because I'm still fairly new to the forums. It definitely has potential, shame it wasn't made.

Aw, some of those levels looked cool. Love that the Koopa Troopas are in different costumes.
Looks like something that could totally be made in GameMaker though.

Perhaps you should use the Search feature.

Yeah, it feels like I've been here much longer than three months, and I didn't start posting until late January, since the activation took a while to send.

Perhaps you should use the Search feature.

For everything except the hidden page  :-\

The lack of smooth programming and Bright, colorful levels gave it a decidedly UN-Marioish feel.

...did I just say "Marioish?"

Bleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah. EVERYTHING about that game was bad, apart from the music.

And the music is exactly the same as in Super Mario World. It had potential maybe, but knowing Philips, it'd probably work out fairly bad. The scenery's nice though.

I only watched the first video. The backgrounds look like an MS Paint disaster and the guy was jumping all over stuff that wasn' t even there half the time (maybe that was because it was unfinished, but I've got a feeling it wouldn't have been too polished anyway in the end). I didn't hear the music, but it's probably nothing special.

The music that you would hear is exactly the same as in SMW. No difference at all whatsoever. And it's always the stage theme that takes place outside. They even play it in castles and caves, which sucks, and at some points, they add the Yoshi beat to it, even though Yoshi is no where to be found. It'd be at least better than that if they had worked on it a little bit. But definitely wouldn't hit the Mario potential.

That's because that was the only song that was programed into the game before it was canceled.

It probably would've just mimicked the other SMW tunes, though.

Actually, the MWW soundtrack simply plays through the entire SMW soundtrack, going silent after the ending theme.

Pretty odd...it looks like it was made with Game Maker and Paint.
