FINNALY!!! After 8 years of waiting Wario gets a new Wario Land game! And its on the Wii!
http://wii.ign.com/articles/877/877073p1.html
I don't know if this is a new Wario Land game and not another Wario Ware game thats made for the Balance Board just using Wario Land as a title but hopefuly its a new Wario Land game.
-
What, no Kingdom Hearts Wii in there? I've always thought the Wii remote could be used for awesome Keyblade control.
-
When I read the topic title, I was thinking of the drink called shake. Now I'm thirsty...
-
I'm a pretty huge Wario fan as it is, so this sounds really exciting.
-
When I read the topic title, I was thinking of the drink called shake. Now I'm thirsty...
Sure, but... for a Wario shake? Who knows what kind of grisly lumps would be in one of those?
-
when I read the title I read "Wario Land Snake"
-
Another potentially humorous mis-read:
"Wario? Do you copy? Wario? WARIO!?"
-
I can see the slogan now.
"Shake your booty, plunder theirs."
-
Hey, that's not bad...
Maybe they'll have Wario transform into a werewolf, because that's the cool gimmick right now.
-
I hope this game is good.
-
Considering how small and simple each minigame appears to be, I'm wishing for a Wario MegaMicrogames-like game that combines all minigames from all games in that series (except maybe the Touch ones unless they map the rotation aspect to the rotation of the Wii remote). 200 just isn't enough.
-

Apparently WLS will be played by holding the Wii Remote sideways and shaking the controller in various directions triggers different moves. Given the Japanese release date it's likely we'll see it at E3 with a new title.

It's 2D! Shaking the wiimote along with 3D platforming could get a bit frustrating. And if Wario World taught me anything, it is that I like 2D Wario much better.
-
Reminds me of another game I know thats on the N64... SHAKE SHAKE!
-
Ooh! Ooh! Lemme guess! Mischief Makers!
-
It's looking promising... do we know who's developing it? (we all know what happens when Nintendo gets too lazy to make their own installments in the series... *coughMasterofDisguisecough*)
-
What, no Kingdom Hearts Wii in there? I've always thought the Wii remote could be used for awesome Keyblade control.
No. After finding the Subspace Emissary too Square Enix for it's own good, I really do not want a Kingdom Hearts game on the Wii. Another Paper Mario? Mario & Luigi? Ok.
On the topic of Shake, I having major deja vu of Mischief Makers...
-
What the heck does SSE have to do with S-E????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!1/?1/1/1/1/?!/?!1/?!/!
-
What do you think the - stands for in S-E?
-
A hyphen. Yes I know there's not a hyphen in the company name.
-
I've always found "Squeenix" to be a good abbreviation (mostly because it sounds funny to me).
-
I drink your Wario shake. I drink it up!
-
What the heck does SSE have to do with S-E????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!1/?1/1/1/1/?!/?!1/?!/!
FF7 story writer.
-
I drink your Wario shake. I drink it up!
Thought of it, didn't say it.
-
How did I forget that????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!1/?1/1/1/1/?!/?!1/?!/!
-
"My Wario Shake brings all the boys to the yard..."
-
Vincent Vega: A five dollar Wario shake?! That better be one ****ing good Wario shake.
-
Now made with 90% more garlic and comes with a free microgame! Only at Mario and Luigi's Pasta Bar.
-
Um, excuse me? You can get it only at Wario Land. The title says so.
-
FF7 story writer.
You forgot Kingdom Hearts.
-
What's the more well-known, more widely-played game here?
-
What's the series that's had an installment on a Nintendo system and would therefore be more pertinent here?
-
What's the game that came out after most people here had learned how to read?
-
What's the game that all these people are referring to?!
-
What's the series that's had an installment on a Nintendo system and would therefore be more pertinent here?
Final Fantasy has had way more installments on Nintendo systems than Kingdom Hearts if that's what you're trying to imply, though the pertinence argument is laughable in any case.
-
No, I'm trying to imply that FFVII was never on a Nintendo console...aside from the characters that were in Kingdom Hearts, which really just shows how pointless this argument was in the first place. This is why I don't usually post after 1 in the morning.

Here's a small boxart:
http://jeux-france.com/Webmasters/Images/71881520080605_233546_0_big.jpg
Can you see the long-haired woman with the baggy pants on the left side, above the logo? The coloring is different, but otherwise, she surely is Captain Syrup, don't you think?
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg293.imageshack.us%2Fimg293%2F448%2Fcaptainsyrupkf6.png&hash=5d39dc0b90eb08af20a68214c296b2ebf8119866)
-
I just realized that Wario is drawn the same way there as he was in Itadaki Street.
-
Full name is. Wario Land: The Shake Demension. Well atleast for Austrailia.

I definitely see the resemblance.
-
News guys - it is indeed Captain Syrup. Here's some info from the Mario Wiki page on Wario Land Shake:
Within an Ancient Globe (an old, giant globe exhibited at a museum), there is another world called Yuretopia (translator: “yure” = tremor/shaking). Yuretopia’s peace is shattered by the marauding pirate Shay King. Queen Melfull and her Melfull subjects are imprisoned. Not only that, Shay King claims the legendary treasure “Deldel Purse,” which spits out coins whenever it is shaken. Captain Maple Syrup, the female pirate, observes Yuretopia’s crisis from the outside world. Setting her eyes on the legendary treasure but with no desire of doing the dirty work herself, she steals the Ancient Globe and sends it to Wario. True to form, Wario prepares to raid the beleaguered kingdom when Queen Melfull escapes to the outside world in hopes of finding help. Beseeched by the Queen to become a hero to the kingdom, Wario sets off to Yuretopia where the promise of vast treasures beckons
Wario Land Shake[1][2] (or Wario Land: The Shake Dimension)[3] is an upcoming game for the Wii video game console. As of now, hardly anything is known about the game, except that it is a Platformer game, like the previous Wario Land games. The game also features the return of Captain Syrup, although her role is currently unknown. It is also known that the game will have twenty levels and animations drawn by hand and that the Wii Remote will be used to make special movements (such as shaking enemies to get coins, find secret places, and more)[4]. It is the first game in the Wario Land series to be released since Wario Land 4 in 2001.
This looks very promising - definitely better than Wario: Master of Dissapointment. Handrawn graphics? That sounds pretty rad, actually. :)
-
I didn't think they did hand-drawn anything anymore, except for box art.
-
And ironically they don't do that hand-drawn either.
-
These days, hand-drawn just means "looks drawn".
-
And that's why I'm grateful for artists like Hayao Mayazaki who don't actually rely on computers for their drawings.
-
P.S. Digital cel doesn't mean the images didn't come from drawings at some point.
-
Eruope releash date has been made. Wario Land: The Shake Dimension (Nintendo) - September 26
Whats taking so long for a U.S date?!

Captain Syrup is back!
Everybody! Do the "Revival of an awesome character that dissapered" dance!
Wooooooooooooooooo!
'Stops dancing'
Now about Wart...
-
I will never understand for the life of me why they refuse to put that guy in any games. Besides a questionable cameo in Link's Awakening, he never shows up. I forget... was he even a trophy in Melee? A trophy and/or sticker in Brawl? He's 100% owned by Nintendo, for goodness sake.
-
Swing your arms up from side to side! Come on, it's time to go, do the Captain Syrup!
-
PUT YOUR ARMS TO SIDE TO SIDE! Oh wait thats a diffrent dance... YAR HAR SHIMIRIDY YOU ARE A PIRATE!

Well, I don't think Miyamoto likes him that much, so forget about him showing up in a major mario platformer. However, I don't see why Camelot has looked over him - they've put all kinds of crazy characters in their games, so why not Wart?
-
I don't think Wart really had an impact on the Mario universe (as far as storyline is concerned) since living in the dreamscape of Subcon. However, Captian Syurp has been a pain on Wario's side for two Wario Land games which make it more than likely that she had a chance to get him again.
Wart is awsome though! :)
-
New screens of the game!

And the American logo I put on the first post.
Looks like they wanted it to looks like a cartoon. Looks nice.
-
That first screen makes me finally understand the whole title of the game.
-
"Wario Land: Taking waggle to a whole new level."
I believe that was one of the first name ideas for the game.
Anyway, I'm somewhat interested in this game.
-
The game looks promising, the only thing I'm a little worried about is that it isn't developed by Nintendo. A major plus for having Captain Syrup in it though!
-

Is anything these days? Well, anything that doesn't involve expensive, Apple-white peripherals and/or Miis.
That, and they're cheating us out of widescreen again with those sidebars (whether they function as a quasi HUD or not! Then again, I've heard 2-D games don't work too well in widescreen with decent clarity). Guess it sucks to be a plasma screen owner now!
And now that all that griping is over with, a compliment: Those are some kick-A graphics.
-
The game looks pretty cool. Nice job on getting these screenshots Linkin!
-
This game is looks alright.
-
I just saw new scans at Nintendo Wii Fanboy showing two story cutscenes... and... I was about to scream: "New Mario anime please! North America Localization! No 4kids pleeeease!!... Or Localisation of "The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach..."
...That would be... aweeeeeesome.... Or... completely terrible.
-
The graphics are decidedly DS-ish, but I'd rather have that than trying to stretch graphics quality beyond their capability and make them look unpolished.
-

If that ever happens (localization of GMtRPP) It would probably be dubbed by NoA, and Mario and Luigi would probably be the only characters that sound right. (I don't want Cookie Monster Bowser coming back. He's better off doing grunts, growls, dark chuckles, and roars)
-
There might be a slight chance of Nintendo localizing GMTRPP, since they're bringing the Ocarina of Time manga over here later this year. By the way, here's something:
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.imgsync.com%2Fdata%2Fimg%2F6205844wii_WarioLandShake_pkg01.jpg&hash=9d8ff445012b8e8d9f2d951b2f3d84b71b2ee159)
-
Wario enjoys looting way too much.

Why couldn't Harvey Atkin come back?
-
Why couldn't Harvey Atkin come back?
That would be cool! He did a really great speaking Koopa
-
Ah! CrossEyed7, I didn't know the US boxart was out! Well, here's the Japanese one for comparison:
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fgonintendo.com%2Fwp-content%2Fphotos%2F4902370516708_2.jpg&hash=0a2927a7d599be1f36051c608b79e41d73404ccd)
-
It's like a Where's Waldo, except it's a Where's Captain Syrup, except she's easy to find. It's also like a way better than the American boxart, as expected.
-
The Japanese get all the good:
Artwork
Uncensored/Glitchy games
Special Editions.
-
And rightfully so (the games get made there, after all, and they have less of a stereotype as being violent/angry videogame-obsessed).
-
And rightfully so (the games get made there, after all, and they have less of a stereotype as being violent/angry videogame-obsessed).
And that is the reason why I am sick of all these "ultra violent" gore-filled games that American/European developers are so obsessed about (I'm talking about Gears of War specifically, although God of War is amazing because of its epic story and developed characters). I am also sick of the plethora of WW2 FPS games that are released every year. How many times do we need to kill Nazis before it gets boring?
Back on topic:
Is Wario Land Shake a direct sequel to the Game Boy Wario Land games (the ones with Captain Syrup)? Or is it a spin-off title similar to Wario Land 4?
-
Why is Wario Land 4 a spin-off?
-
It isn't.
-
Exactly--I guess a better question would have been "why does Mario Maniac think Wario Land 4 is a spin-off?"
-
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rwlj/prologue/index.html
Take a look at this video-enabled website, linked by n-fani in #TMK this very night. It's hard to tell what's going on, but Wario Land Shake It is looking good.
-
Awesome.
-
Japan gets it in 19 days
-
The japanese are lucky.

It came out in japan today
New info:There are five continents with five levels four regular levels and one boss level. After beating the boss you must buy a map of another continent from Captain Syrup. You can go in any order of continents depending on how much money you have.
-
Man, even Europe got a better boxart than us. What's up with that?
-
The japanese are lucky.
I don't think luck has anything to do with it.
-
Man, even Europe got a better boxart than us. What's up with that?
Europe has to get SOMETHING better than North America once in a while, right? Like the Hidden Mansion.
