Title: Processors
Post by: megamush on June 04, 2008, 01:52:42 PM
I'm planning to get a new laptop and I was wondering which processor is better.

The one I'm looking to get currently has AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core, is this one good?

Right now I have Intel Pentium Dual-Core, is this one good?

As far as I know, there isn't a lot of software that can take advantage of 64-bit processing.

Depends on the application.  I recently bought an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB) and am happy with my purchase.  It runs four process at once faster than either of my old computer could run a single process.

I was going to do this

But ended up going with

The whole PC (minus the monitor) cost me a little over $500.  I could have done it for less, but I wanted a better graphics card, more/faster memory, Windows Vista, and didn't have time to build my own.  I also had a $300 coupon.
